Care Homes Owned by Cuerden Developments Ltd in Greater Manchester

My daughter Chloe has been at Berkeley for almost 3 1/2 years altogether. Over this time, she has been treated with respect and dignity. The staff who care for her each day are wonderful and I class some now as friends. They know Chloe inside out and always respect her wishes. I am so greatful for the care and love they have shown her and my mind is at rest, knowing she is safe.

I think its a nice, clean, well run place and all the residents seem very happy. The staff are extremely approachable and are glad to help my only concern is the ongoing problem with the lift it needs a brand new one.

After having the stress of dad having to be moved to a challenging behaviour unit, I couldn't have wished for a better placement, all staff and managers have been amazing not just with dad but with our whole family, they absolutely go above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble. They have all been so helpful and caring and I can approach any of them and ask anything and have found everyone to be extremely helpful, it's such a calm happy environment, and I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they do. Desperately need a new lift putting in as soon as possible though.

Also the new family room that has just been added is lovely touch for family's with little ones.

One lady is especially kind and thoughtful.

I think it's amazing how even those who are in the advanced stages of dementia are still included in activities. Other care facilities could learn a lot from Swallowfields

The staff at Swallowfields have shown unwavering patience and care towards my father. They are amazing and a credit to their profession. I live far away and staff are always at the end of phone which is reassuring. They also make a good brew when I visit!

My husband has been a service user for over 2 years during which time his dementia has worsened. The staff are very kind and caring and put up with a lot in a sensitive way. They are quick to react and sort matters quickly and quietly. He is involved with activities with the full support of staff. I feel happy he is safe and well cared for.

I don't sit at home worrying if my husband is being looked after. I know 100% he has the best care I can ask for. When I walk in and he is sat with the carers and he has a beaming smile from ear to ear that tells me how happy he is too.

The overall care for mum is really good. They try to engage her in all activities. She is encouraged to try different foods and always cater for her needs. On the whole she is much more settled in Alexandra Grange and we as a family are more reassured.

From our initial meeting and viewing the home all the staff, from the manager to the cleaners, are all very professional and friendly. From what I've seen and my dad tells me its that everyone is helpful and respects his dignity and privacy. His room is pleasant and the lounge areas are good social areas. The home may need some TLC in places but this doesn't affect the care received.

My dad has resided at Swallowfield Gardens for around 3 years now and he loves it here. After experiencing previous care home settings that were not the right fit for him or his specific needs, all the staff at Swallowfield Gardens are person centred and experienced in their individual roles. He loves it here and there are loads of individual activities in house and external to suit each person. They always include families/friends with whats happening in the care home and provide regular family meetings in person and share minutes from these.

All residents have a key worker. My fathers key worker, was always on hand to make sure all his needs were met and if I had any questions about his care these were always addressed quickly putting my mind at ease when it was time to leave after a visit. If you have to put a family member into a residential home you should consider this one.

The smell of urine was really bad, rooms not cleaned, bedding not changed regularly. My husband was upset most of the time he was there. He was in to get him walking after a hospital stay. No proper attempt was made, it was left to myself and my daughter to get him mobile.

Absolutely brilliant care from all staff. I can finally settle knowing my dad is safe and being looked after. My dad feels happy there; he's alot more company and made good relationships with all staff.

Swallowfields is a friendly and inviting home. Staff can't do enough for the service users. My husband really enjoys the meals, which look inviting and satisfying. They do numerous activities to stimulate the residents. My husband is happy and content at Swallowfield.

After 6.5 years at Alexandra Grange following a severe stroke my mum passed away in her room with my sister and myself with her. She had returned from hospital 2 days previously for end-of-life care. There are no words to express our massive gratitude for the staff at this care home. they care. They know their residents. They are there front and centre. The carers domestic and laundry staff are simply the best in their field. They know every single resident and all of their individual needs. The atmosphere is one of calm with music and the radio playing. There is laughter too. They work hard and if there is anything that we have needed to address it is sorted. On 7th January they said goodbye to mum. The two night carers at the end were compassionate professional and simply wonderful. Thank you to the most amazing people. Thank you for giving mum the love and respect and forming great bonds with her You have our hearts.

My dad didn't want to leave. Following his stroke, my dad was sent to Alexander Court until he was ready to receive care at home. He loved it and in his own words, they couldn't do enough for you. Yes they were understaffed and at times this was noticeable but they carried on with a smile on their faces and got the jobs done that needed to be done. My dad's gluten-free needs were catered for as other personal care needs and we had no complaints at all during his 6 weeks. Now his home care is another matter which is why I am writing this review. If only he could have stayed, the level in comparison is on another level.

Got to say when I heard I was coming here to continue my post-op recovery I was quite worried. After being here for a week I have been really impressed though. I am what many would consider a difficult patient as on top of a lot of problems with recovering from my leg operation I also have two chronic conditions which mean I am unable to eat 90% of normal foods. The nurses have been great, the staff have also all been great and the physios have customised a recovery program much better than was happening in the hospital post-op ward. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alexandra Court to anyone considering coming here.

Please do not allow your relatives to stay in this place. Apart from the physios, there is no level of care. My mother was left several times in the cold bathroom with little dignity, they treat patients with contempt. She left early after begging and pleading to go home. In her words, she couldn't understand how human beings could treat other human beings in that way. The place is dirty with substandard furniture and bedding. You wouldn't leave an animal in this place.
