Since day 1 we have been more than happy with the care at Locharwoods. The home has a very homely feel and staff treat the residents with curtesy and compassion at all times.
From the manager and assistant manager to the care team all the staff are approachable, kind and understanding.

I really can't express what a lovely little gem this care home is.As a nurse I've worked in a few so have a lot to compare but genuinely feel this home is one of the best.From the minute I walked through the door I knew we'd got the right place for mum.The staff are so kind and compassionate from the
managers right down to the cleaners and handyman.Smiles all round when you enter and really can't do enough for residents and relatives alike.A lot of thought is put into the activities and they arrange ,visiting hairdressers and choropidists .Mum said she loved the wholesome ,home cooked food and the little treats the cook provided from time to time.Nobody wants to be in a home but I think mum actually enjoyed her time there and felt pampered and cared for.
She's home now ,rejuvenated and much better,a lot being due to the love and dedication given by all the staff.
We still talk about her time there now ,with fond memories.

Locharwoods of Formby is a wonderful, caring and brilliantly led and run residential care home with amazing staff. It is a "home from home" with room for 18 residents each with their own personal rooms. You can bring your own furniture and things to make it feel more personal and cozy, however the
furniture that is provided is of very good standard.
They have a lovely lounge, dining room and conservatory leading out to a secure, private and pretty garden with a covered seating area.
Each resident is treated with the most care and compassion making sure that their needs and dignity is respected at all times.
Management lead the home well, making sure that they adhere to standards and compliance and replace and repair things when needed.
My Mom has been here 3 1/2 years and they have treated her kindly making sure her health and also her emotional needs are looked after.
The care staff really get to know the residents and have their best interests at heart, and try to keep them safe.

All the staff at Locharwoods, Formby, are very kind and thoughtful. They genuinely care about my mum and they are interested in her and listen to what she has to say. The home itself is lovely, warm and cosy with a real homely feel. This home has been a godsend for us. It has a beautiful garden and
is in a lovely location. My mum is treated as an individual, with respect and courtesy.

Fabulous Jubilee Celebrations
The team at Locharwoods Birkdale ensured that the residents and guests enjoyed a fantastic celebration for the Jubilee. The garden looked incredible with bunting, flags and a spectacular display of plants.
The day was enhanced by great entertainment, dancing and
delicious food. Thank you for all the hard work and effort involved in planning such a glorious celebration.

Mum has recently become a resident and the whole team at Locharwoods Birkdale have been fantastic. The home has everything required and the outside space and gardens are excellent. Despite mum being in very poor health the team have cared for her with great dignity and do their utmost to ensure they
try and make her smile each day. It is clear mum is in great hands. However, probably what is often not considered, is how brilliant the whole team are, and especially the manager, with mum's relatives. They keep you up to date with everything that is going on and even send photographs when mum is having a good day! The manager has been excellent in completing the necessary admin and forms to help get mum's funding. I couldn't speak highly enough of Locharwoods Birkdale.

Nan moved into the home from another earlier in the year. Nan is living with dementia but has really settled in well at Locharwoods and comments how nice the staff are. It’s been a very difficult time the past year but the Manager has made sure we’ve been kept up to date regularly via emails.

My experience of Locharwoods of Birkdale has been exceptional particularly over these last few months with the Coronavirus epidemic. The manager and all the staff have gone above and beyond to care for all the residents keeping them as safe and well as they possibly could. Where relatives and friends
have been unable to visit their particular relation/friend the staff have stepped in spending time with the residents and putting in place activities for all that want to join in and this has definitely helped with the mental side effects of Covid-19.
I feel extremely grateful that my very good friend is at Locharwoods. It gives me peace of mind knowing that he is so well cared for.

My aunt has been resident in Locharwoods for the past 3 years and I have been very impressed with the personalised care that she has received over this time and the caring attitude of the manager and staff, particularly during this very difficult period of lockdown. It is a very homely care home and
the residents do genuinely seem to be regarded as being part of one big family. The thought, effort and imagination that has gone into entertaining the residents and helping them cope with the restrictions and anxiety over this period has been most impressive and the regular updates for relatives have helped significantly with managing the uncertainty. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to other families looking for a caring environment for their relative.

As a family, we would like to thank you all, the caring lovely staff at Locharwoods of Birkdale, their Manager, for all their excellent care and their compassion they have shown our aunt over the last seven and half years she was in their care. Our aunt was so well cared for and was very happy living
at Locharwoods of Birkdale it wasn't just a care home it was her family for the last seven and a half years. We have nothing but praise for all they have done for our aunt. Also the care and kindness they showed us as a family. We would highly recommend Locharwoods of Birkdale care home to anyone looking to place their loved one in a local care home. Their loved one will be treated with dignity and respect and made to feel part of the Locharwoods family and well cared for.

Can’t speak more highly of Locharwoods of Birkdale, they have been outstanding in their care towards mum, each and every member of the manager's “team” maintenance included give 100% and more and genuinely care and this has been invaluable during this very difficult period of “lockdown". With regular
updates via email and social media they have been amazing in keeping the residents entertained with a whole host of activities, it’s provided complete peace of mind to us seeing how happy mum is and just how well she is cared for. Thank you the manager and all your fabulous team.

Locharwoods is a very comfortable and cosy care home. The team are truly dedicated and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. The care provided is very much a 'home from home' style and I really cannot fault it. Visitors are made very welcome and when we visited as a large family group last
year for my Dad's 90th birthday we were all made to feel very welcome. There is a lovely garden which is very well maintained all year round and a lovely conservatory which allows views of the garden even when the weather is not so good. There are activities every weekday and annual events such as Christmas and Easter are celebrated thoughtfully. My mum continues to live here after my dad died peacefully here in December and the staff have been very tender with her to help her through a very difficult time. I cannot thank them all enough for looking after my mum and dad so well.

My mother has had the best care love and attention we could hope for. She has been enabled to retain her level of independence and adapted to her personality. She is treated respectfully at all times and considers this her own home. Staff go above and beyond to be caring and friendly. Always professional.
The environment is lovely, modern and homely at the same time. It is kept to the highest standards of maintenance and consideration is given to individuals needs. My mum smokes and a gazebo has been erected so she can sit outside in comfort. The food is homemade and modified for individuals should the need arise by offering choice.

My grandma received lovely care at Locharwoods of Birkdale. She was well cared for until she passed away. The staff were all very patient and kind and led very well by the manager.

is something that is clearly apparent and it shows in so many ways.
Locarwoods Care Home is truly a home for those who reside there, they are like one happy family all getting on with each other and looking out for each other.
The staff encourage and get a high level of involvement in organised activities both in the home and external outings to the theatre for example, and this is a great boost for my mother and well appreciated.
As a son, I feel so assured that my mother is being looked after and cared for by people who care and genuinely go 'the extra mile' in all aspects of her care. Keep up the good work you are all very special people.

My mum has lived here for 1 month. Staff are fabulous care is absolutely wonderful. Locharwoods is always clean and well-maintained manager and owner were of great support to enable my mum to move in. Overall I sleep well knowing my lovely mum is in safe hands.
