My mum came to Hillcroft from another care home - where her personal care was non-existent. She moved to Hillcroft, and within a couple of days, she seemed settled and had a shower and her hair done. The care she received is excellent, even down to her clothes all matching, etc, which would be so important to Mum.

This is a well run, friendly home with supportive staff who know how to look after their residents. The accommodation is purpose built and makes good use of a difficult site. My mother in law is very happy here.

Hillcroft gave my mum loving consistent and compassionate care.
Mum was there for approx 5 years. Never a worry for us she was cherished by the staff. We had moved Mum to Hillcroft Carnforth to be nearer me and because of the loving nurturing staff at the home.

Thank you. This home cares. It's a wonderful place. I would and do recommend them.

Review of Hillcroft Nursing Home (Carnforth) from L B (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 4 December 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My grandad has been here since June 2023 on the oak unit after an unpredicted accident and almost 6 months in hospital. Whilst it took him a while to adjust after being independent for so long the staff really were/are so patient with him. He is allowed to be as independent as possible, the staff are so friendly and approachable to my grandad and family members and try their best to engage regularly on visits and give updates every time I come to visit. Placing him here is easily a great decision our family has made after reviewing multiple homes. Cannot begin to thank the staff enough for the care he has received.

Excellent home, the love and care given to my father was great! The rooms are clean, smart and warm. All carers are brilliant and helpful. For a short while, the home felt like a second home for myself and my wife and siblings.

Review of Hillcroft House from Sheila H (Respite Resident) published on 8 November 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Outstanding care in Hillcroft House. Extremely clean and comfortable with excellent food.
Most impressive features are the staff who all offer constant help and encouragement often before requested.
Their attitude to long term residents is patience, humour and genuine affection, knowing what each individual will thrive on.
The atmosphere is always positive and cheerful and grumbling simply doesn’t happen.

It is almost impossible to put into words my admiration and gratitude to all concerned.

The staff at Hillcroft House have gone over and beyond to make my mother's residential and nursing stay as comfortable as possible. They have also been brilliant with me, both over the phone and during visits - which helps a lot when you see someone declining.

The home is spotless, food good and plentiful, laundry very efficient and the staff are open to all suggestions...It's also a lovely location - would highly recommend.

Overall Experience
My mother was the first resident to move into Hillcroft House, Galgate and was there for a number of years until her recent death. All the people she came into contact with there treated her with dignity, respect and love.

I live far away from the home but whenever I visited I was welcomed and in the final months, particularly, I was kept well informed and allowed to be close to my mother. The compassion shown was just right and so welcome at this very difficult time. My mother never had cause for complaint and I would have no hesitation in recommending the rooms, the facilities and the staff.

Review of Hillcroft Nursing Home (Lancaster) from Edward T (Son of Resident) published on 4 January 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Caring, devoted, motivated staff led by example from senior nursing staff and manager of which I can't speak too highly. My mother has severe dementia and can exhibit challenging aggressive behaviour. Hillcroft staff know how to best manage this while retaining her dignity as much as possible. They genuinely care and treat her with affection. I often find staff chatting with her one on one when I arrive unannounced.
Food is wholesome home cooked and sufficient, catered for individual needs.
Visitors/relations are always given a warm welcome. I am always informed of any issues with mothers health.
Very occasionally a Lounge can smell of urine. This is not surprising given the unpredictable behaviour of some residents. Staff take measures to ensure this is not a routine state of affairs and is not as evident as other Homes I have visited in my working life.

My brother and I are confident our elderly vulnerable mother is in a caring loving environment.

Overall Experience

After my dad was given notice to leave another home we were lucky enough to get him a place here and can only say wonderful things. The best thing about the place are the staff, every one of them. He was very sad and lonely in his previous home but now at Hillcroft, he is always chatting to one of the staff. They all seem so well trained in dementia care which results in a happy home, happy residents and such positive staff. Even when dad is having a bad day, I always leave knowing he's in the best possible place, which is such peace of mind. The food looks lovely and I'm always offered a cup of tea while I'm there. I also feel if I had any concerns I could talk to the manager and she would listen (although I've never had to). There's always a lovely welcome on reception too. I used to dread going to see him at his previous home but look forward to my visits now. Thank you to all Hillcroft Lancaster staff.
