Overall Experience

No hot water - took 2 weeks to get sorted
Loss of clothes. Left with less than mum had.
Kitchen - needs cleaning desperately. 2nd floor manager told my mum after being there for 2 hours "settle yourself down". Took 2 weeks for mum to have a bath.
Certain members of staff absolutely brilliant, some not so.

They need a proper manager who sit down with the relatives and explain things and get details. This never happened.

Water in residents rooms and bathrooms and shower rooms are set to a temperature to ensure our residents don't suffer burns or scalds. I have an open door policy and none of these other concerns... I am delighted that the activities at derwent care have improved significantly.

Over the last few months I have noticed an increase in a range of activities available to residents. It is brilliant that there are now two activity workers focusing on providing activities both group based and individualised. I am hoping that this remains the situation from now on

My mam was admitted to the care home on 5 June 2026 after a period in hospital following a stroke. Her stay was short as she unfortunately died on 30 June 2026. I cannot say this enough - her care while in the home was amazing. Me and my family are truly thankful for this and cannot recommend Holly Lodge enough.

Overall Experience

My mother was recently in Derwent for respite care, initially we were very weary about the whole process but the brilliant staff at Derwent couldn't have made the transition any smoother, they were very supportive and couldn't do enough for us as a family. The care my mam received was exceptional, the home itself is lovely, very clean and welcoming. There was always plenty of activities taking place. As a family we can't thank the staff at Derwent enough, we will definitely be returning to Derwent for any future respite care.

Everyone went above and beyond to make my Nana feel welcome during a difficult transition. The room was spacious and well equipped with facilities which still assured my Nana had some independence.

Overall Experience

Our Dad became a resident in the care home in February 2026.We found the home very clean and well looked after , the management and staff were very friendly and supportive towards our Dad .Also treated with care and Dignity we have seen .Plenty of Activities going on and Dad has settled in well , food and drinks is well presented and Dad eats well and put on weight.
The bedrooms are lovely and spacious and well thought of. Good Value of money

My wife had excellent care, was very happy with everything and can not fault anything about the home. This is my first choice if my wife needs to go back into a home, as she was only on a respite. I am on OCP myself and could also stop in this home if ever I needed to.

Outstanding in every way! I know my family member is being cared for and loved when we cannot be with her. Staff are amazing, food is fantastic, the home itself is beautiful with a bar and cafe area, always immaculate. My family member always looks happy, always lovely and clean, hair done, and well dressed. The management and staff are all hands-on and make a fantastic team. My wife Carol has been in your care since December last year and I am very pleased to see she is settling in which is nine weeks now. She has Alzheimer's but your staff are so supportive and caring so much thanks to all of your wonderful staff. I feel much more comfortable knowing that she is being cared for very well.
