Dad has recently moved into care, so it's been a new experience for us all. The team have been so kind and clear explaining everything to us. They always welcome me when I visit with a cheery smile and Dad is full of praise and appreciation for all the care he is given. It's been a very positive experience
for us all and mended many previously fraught and unhappy parts of our family relationship.

My mother moved in Leighswood in May 2025 after she broke her leg in two places at her previous care home and was not doing very well there. She has dementia and is incontinent/ can't walk since May it has been a long process but I believe had she not moved she would not be here nearly a year later
waiting the birth of her great-grandson. Leighswood are very caring and it's a very homely environment, not clinical as mums previous home. She has gained weight and is now eating meals herself which is thanks to staff for excellent care and patience. Amazing.
Reply from Becky Anson, Deputy Manager at LeighswoodThank you for your kind words, I will pass them on to the team. We too are pleased that Mom is doing really well here. Regards Becky. x

We were very apprehensive about mom going into a care facility but Shire Oak House soon put that to rest. We visit mom twice a week and are welcomed every time. The staff and management are very polite and welcoming. Mom's daily needs are met attentively and we are kept up to date either when we visit
or via a telephone call. If we have any questions regarding mom the staff are happy to help and if they can't answer'will find the answer for us with no hesitation. Mom has been in the home for 18 months now and is very happy and in her own words, she feels safe.

I cannot begin to extol the virtue of this care home, its management and staff. - words are not enough. The love and compassion given to my cousin in his last few week of life was fantastic. There was a genuine warm feeling whenever I visited, not just to him but to other residents also, nothing was
too much trouble for the staff and management. All I can say is that if ever I need care home, I hope it would be this one or one like it.

My mother was placed in the care home on a D2A placement but the experience was not good.
The care home was "clickly" with some residences being favoured over others by staff and management.
Some staff (not all) were seen and heard to be stern with residents, my mother aired concerns to me that she
was scared of some staff! My mother had dementia and displayed outbursts of anger and frustration particularly to her family. My brother witnessed a staff member scolding my mother saying "don't speak to your son like that he won't come again!" When l heard that l was appalled, that was my mom's worst fear and would never happen, little did she know!
The day my mom was moved (not enough words here me here). I asked if l could come and pack her belonging up. When l arrived to go with her to the new Nursing home her personal possessions, clothes, photos of her grandchildren had been placed in black bin liners and put by the front door for us to collect our way out!
Reply from Becky Anson, Deputy Manager at LeighswoodThank you for taking the time to review our service. Your Mother was only with us for a 3 week period last August/September and unfortunately, she didn't present, nor did you mention that she was fearful of some staff otherwise we would of supported her and alleviated her concerns. It is a shame that the specific interaction you mention between your mother and the staff team has been taken out of context. If you contact us, we are happy to discuss this further. We are aware that you chose not to communicate with some members of the team, but we can arrange for you to speak to one of the senior managers. We are sorry that you feel that it was not a pleasant experience for you as a relative; we have never had this feedback before. We take the comments seriously and will take them on board to ensure moving forward we do not fail to meet anyone's expectations. We wish your Mother well in her new home. Kind Regards, The senior management team.

My mom has been a resident at the care home since October 2023 following a diagnosis of early onset dementia. From the very beginning, the care she has received has been outstanding. Every member of staff goes above and beyond to ensure she is safe, comfortable, and treated with dignity and respect.
Any issues or concerns are dealt with immediately and professionally, which gives me great reassurance.

I visit my mom daily, and over time the care home has truly become a home from home for both of us. I am always greeted with a friendly smile, and staff are never too busy to answer questions or offer a listening ear. Their kindness, patience, and genuine compassion make an incredibly difficult situation much easier to cope with. I have complete confidence that my mom is cared for as an individual, and I am deeply grateful to all the staff for the support they provide every single day.
