My mum moved to The Oaks in May 2025, moving from another care home which couldn't address her dementia needs. From day one The Oaks has been a significant step up for mum in terms of the care that she receives from both nurses and carers. Due to mum's dementia she can be a challenging resident, but
the nurses and carers seem to have got her 'sussed' and know how to make her time at The Oaks as good as they can. I would recommend The Oaks to anyone seeking a caring and professional home for their relative.
Reply from Samantha Crawley, CEO at The OaksThank you ever so much for this wonderful review. The team will be very happy to read this and to know the impact they are having on you and your Mam's life. Supporting people living with dementia to live well is key to our ethos and we are delighted to see that your experience has been so positive. Many thanks S

Dad has settled in very well at The Oaks. The staff are all helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We are able to visit freely and have even had chippy tea nights with Dad and other family members. Overall we are happy that Dad is happy at The Oaks.

Mum moved into The Oaks 4 weeks ago, after being in 3 previous institutions.
I can't believe the difference in her since she moved in. She still has her challenges, but she says she couldn't have found a better place to be. She says how kind the staff are, and they treat her like an adult human.

Staff are very attentive, kind and always helpful and responsive in relation to my mother's needs. Nothing is too much for the staff in delivering care; they treat my mom with respect. All interactions demonstrate they understand her needs in accordance with her personal preferences. Mom has expressed
many times that she is happy and feels cared for. The management team have been extremely supportive and always available to provide advice and assistance.

Overall, I can honestly say that I wouldn't want my Godmother to be anywhere else; The staff are welcoming, friendly, humorous and attentive with some staff highly commendable.

The patients are encouraged to socialise and to join in the activities, which are generally tailored to dementia patients,

(though I have enjoyed a few myself!)

The rooms are spacious and can be made homely with personal items. Furniture can be moved for the residents' safety and personal needs. My only grievance is that the room often smells unpleasant (urine), and I have occasionally had to clean the food tray.

The food is usually of a high standard, with some yummy desserts and often alternatives offered.

When there is a full quota of staff, things run well, but there have been occasions where carers have been delayed due to shortages.

Whenever I have raised an issue, it has been dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.

Inspite of the odd niggles, I would highly recommend The Oaks.

My Dad became a resident of The Oaks in April and from my very first interaction with the staff, I had a wonderful feel for the place. I live overseas so can't visit Dad as often as I'd like, but when I have visited, Dad has been well taken care of, the facility is very clean and modern and the staff
are wonderful and caring. Dad is thriving since being a resident at The Oaks, and I believe this is down to their care and attention, and him being fed regular meals with a lot of his favorite foods. The home offers lots of daily activities for residents which I follow on social media, so even though I can't be there often, I do feel connected to what is happening. And, of course, I phone regularly, and the staff are always wonderful and helpful, even running the phone up three flights of stairs so I can chat with Dad.
Reply from Amie Archer, Customer Focus Lead at The OaksWow! What a beautiful review not only for dad but towards our team and home - it has been a pleasure to heave dad living here with us and we appreciate your trust in us when you can't always visit. Thank you again for your positive feedback, we will be sure to pass this onto our team x

My nanna has dementia and is very vulnerable, life at home got difficult and we as a family had a look at several care homes and the oaks stood out, she was settling in well however on the open day as a family we all visited and I noticed that my Nan had a massive bruise on her left cheek and ear also
going round the back of her head which I told my aunt about and she wasn't informed of any incident that had happened to my Nan, there was no mention of any accident that was logged in the accident book. On that week my aunt asked if I could visit my nan for the week as she had a well needed break during this time I came to visit at different times, one occasion my nan was in bed without a sheet on, another occasion my nan was in bed and her bed linen smelled of strong urine, during meal times my Nan wasn't encouraged to eat in the dining room she was left in her room , my nan would also hide under her blanket out of fear of being hurt, we left milkshake and it was still there the next day.

This care home isn't what it seems my friends mom was a resident here and she was given all her meals in her room instead of encouraging her to the dinner hall, dirty underwear left in her shower by carers, several bruises on different occasions without explanations, dirty bedding which was changed
by relatives and then no sheet on the bed, milkshake left for hours and not replaced, a major incident happened where my friends mom was brutally attacked by another resident which led to hospitalisation and she's been terrified covering herself and crying because she's clearly been hurt multiple times and nothing has been documented.

My Mother was at The Oaks for 4 weeks. During this time my Mother had 2 alleged falls (not witnessed ) only identified injuries when I bought to the homes attention my mothers bruising I had discovered and then this was put down to "it must of been from that fall that nobody witnessed" and yet they
were getting my mom ready every day but nothing documented about bruising it was severe, I have photos . The last incident my Mother was attacked by another resident not witnessed but in my Mother's room was a supposed to be "safe place". My mother ended up in the hospital for a month after this attack, we are broken that this has happened to our Mother & 3 incidents in 4 weeks 2 trips to A&E & also paying £6,400 for the privilege of our Mother to be covered in bruises. WOULD YOU PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE? Staff do their upmost best on the First floor however can not monitor each resident all the time & due to complex needs Insufficient staff level

Nothing is too much trouble and your attention to detail is excellent. Communication is also superb

My Mom became a resident of The Oaks during August 2025.
From my first initial meeting with the team I was made to feel reasured regarding all of my worries about the transition of Mom's care.
On the day Mom arrived she was welcomed by all with open arms into her new surroundings , her huge smile
gave me the sense of her happiness that we had not seen for a long time......
Mom has been looked after by this incredible team of laundry ,catering ,carers ,nurses , activity & events , reception management who go over and above to make Mom's journey the best we could ever wish for.
My daughters and grandaughters shared a magical experince where a shopping day was created for the residents to spend role play £1 notes on items from stalls ranging from a variety of items.
After Mom's first few weeks , i recieved a beautiful picture of Mom enjoying a glass of prosecco sitting in the sunshine on the patio celebrating National Prossecco day.....
Well done The Oaks you are truly amazing.

Beautiful, welcoming home with plenty of space for residents to move about. Excellent views over the surrounding areas. Relatives and friends made very welcome. Private areas to sit with residents both inside and outside. Drinks available for visitors which is much appreciated when travelling long distances.
The staff are friendly and caring. Residents are very well cared for and happy. The home is very different from any other I have been in and took me a while to embrace it. The activities are brilliant and the home seems to focus on fun, laughter and living in the moment.

The Oaks is a wonderful home! Modern, beautifully furnished, well kept and clean. All staff from house keepers, laundry, kitchen, carers and management, are very caring, lovely, friendly, and happy people (they rarely waiver even towards the end of long challenging shifts). They all do their very best
for the residents and often go beyond. The carers are just incredible with residents, supporting them in all their daily needs and engaging with them. On my husbands floor there is lots of chatter & exhubrance (along with quiet times) with the carers often leading impromptu singing & dancing from the dining room much to everyones delight! I find management team are also approachable very supportive and will listen and act on any concerns or requests to the very best of their abilities and are led by a wonderful and manager. The activities leaders also get a special mention for all their lots of inovative & enjoyable ideas.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at The Oaks. My sister has settled in well and takes part in lots of activities. Where she lived before , she spent a lot of time on her own. Making the decision to move her was a huge one but I am so happy I did. Although I don't live anywhere near,

Mum had tried respite at another home locally and before choosing a long term home we encouraged her to try The Oaks. She initially booked a month's respite but after 2 weeks decided to make it her permanent home. Mum found the staff to be very caring and the atmosphere more calm. She definitely prefers
the food and is finally gaining weight. She absolutely loves Ted (the resident dog). Her room is lovely and when visiting all the staff are very welcoming and friendly.

We are generally very pleased with the quality of care provided, especially during February when our friend's birthday celebration was thoughtfully personalised in a particularly meaningful way.

Our friend also thoroughly enjoyed a trip out with staff to a local cafe.

All staff we have met have

generally come across as being sincere, proactive and professional. They are friendly, caring and accommodating. That has been apparent on each visit, typically from the moment we have arrived at reception when we often receive a warm welcome. So it is no surprise to us that our friend has frequently expressed happiness with living at The Oaks.
Reply from Amie Archer, Customer Focus Lead at The OaksIt is always great being provided positive feedback from a friend or relative of a person living in The Oaks, but to also have that fantastic feedback from the person living here too is amazing - thank you for your review, we love to hear that you receive a warm welcome from our whole team and you can see your friend settling in well to the home and a expression of our person centred care directed to them. We hope that yourself and your friend continue to feel happy with the care here at The Oaks.
