Nan moved here back in November 2025 & since then has made such good progress in all aspects. She no longer suffers the pain of loneliness, she's interacting & engaging with other residence & regular activities. For us as a family, this is so reassuring & gives us comfort. I've witnessed continued high
standard of care towards Nan but equally balancing that with promoting nans independence. Which is great. Nan speaks very highly of all the staff, she's very fond of them all. She's thoroughly enjoying the singers & bands that come in.
Daily & weekly menus are great too. As much as Nan doesn't eat great portions, she does enjoy what she eats & always praising the meals she get served.
Nans been moved rooms & I would say if there's any room for improvement it would be with the cleanliness. Her first room was absolutly spotless, however her current room doesn't quite stand up to the same standard.
Reply from NAOMI DELVES, New resident liaison at Harpwood HouseThank you for your kind review. We're so pleased to hear Nan is happy and that this is reassuring to you & your family.
Supporting each person at Harpwood to feel secure while maintaining their independence is central to our approach, so it's very meaningful to see this reflected in your feedback. I'll be sure to share your encouraging comments with the team.

It's also wonderful for us to know Nan is enjoying activities, entertainment and meals. Seeing her settle in, grow in confidence and share more of her awesome personality is a pleasure for us all!

Regarding cleanliness, please feel free to speak with me regarding the cleanliness of Nan's room so I can ensure it's addressed promptly. Our maintenance team will be available to resolve any refurbishment or decorating concerns, and our housekeeping teams are always there to help with any tidiness and hygiene concerns you may have. We'll do all we can to ensure Nan's new room is up to the standard you expect.
Best wishes,
Naomi

My father and mother stayed at Whitstable house during a difficult time at the end of my Dads life when he was suffering from advanced dementia and Alzheimers. The staff at the home cared for them with kindness and careful attention. They were treated as individuals and with respect. Communication with
the family was good, both in person and through their online portal that had regular updates throughout the day.
I felt that my parents were in a safe environment and their medical needs were being well met.

I was a resident in Harpwood House for one week following a total hip replacement.
I found the staff very calm, friendly, helpful and caring. I was surprised that no member of management staff came to see me and a lot of the staff did not seem to know why I was there. I was given incorrect information
concerning payment of my account, which was annoying.
When I arrived, I was not clear that I was expected, and nobody seemed to know when I left.
I feel the admin side needs to be more professional.
Reply from NAOMI DELVES, New resident liaison at Harpwood HouseThank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and for your kind comments about our care team. We are so pleased to hear that you found the staff calm, friendly and supportive during your recovery.

We are sorry that parts of your experience felt unclear or frustrating, particularly in relation to administration and communication. We always aim to ensure expectations are clear, and we regret that this was not your impression during your stay.

We have reached out to you privately to discuss your review in more detail and to clarify a few points, as some aspects may not have been fully clear at the time. We believe it is important to address any concerns directly and transparently, and we welcome the opportunity to do so.

Thank you again for your feedback, which helps us to continually review, improve and evolve for the benefit of our residents.

I was so happy to have found Harpwood and be able to move my mum in. Everyone has been professional friendly and helpful and I feel like I have support and help to get me through this emotional and different journey after many years battling and trying to cope alone. She has a lovely suite and view
and although due to her dementia there are still hurdles to jump and it's hard to step back a little I have confidence that she is in the best place for us to get there now.
Reply from NAOMI DELVES, New resident liaison at Harpwood HouseThank you so much for this heartwarming message. This transition can be an emotional journey, and we want you to know that we are here for you every step of the way. Our team will continue to do everything we can to support you and mum as she settles into her new home. With warmest regards, Naomi.

Harpwood House is a care home from home!!
From the moment you step through the entrance the love and compassion for the home is shown by everyone from management, staff and residents. Which in turn gives the family's peace of mind and visits so very enjoyable. I always go home with a smile on my face.

Since my Dad arrived at Dover House his care has been great. Compared to my Dad's previous care home, Dover House is clean and modern. The general layout of the care home is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and the communal areas are maintained to a high standard. Most importantly, the staff are professional,
friendly and always welcoming.

The team at Harmonia are quite simply amazing. My father had very severe dementia but remained physically quite strong and we were unable to find any care homes that could meet his needs and keep him safe despite trying several that apparently specialised in dementia care and challenging behaviour.
Dad eventually ended up in hospital and was discharged to Harmonia in February 2024 - the team there quite simply saved dad and us, his family. Dad was able to move around the home and garden as he pleased but with sympathetic supervision so that he didn't feel restricted. They keep residents entertained with appropriate activities including gardening- we still have a plant that dad grew from seed. He loved the delicious home made food! Harmonia's team gave him the most wonderful, genuinely loving care right through until his final, peaceful days in Jan 2025. We cannot thank them enough for the love and care that they provided dad and support for us as a family through a really awful time.

I cannot recommend Dover House highly enough. From the very first interaction, it was clear that this care home is a place where both residents and families are treated with the utmost care and respect. The staff are not only highly professional but also incredibly warm and compassionate, the environment
is clean, comfortable and well maintained. The dedication and compassion shown by all staff gave us peace of mind knowing our mother was in such good hands. Truly a wonderful place!

I consider myself lucky to have my Mum staying at the home under such wonderful caring staff. All patients here have extra needs and complexities, but I have been consistently impressed by the genuine caring nature and patience of the staff, I feel a sense of commitment and joy in what they are doing.
The home is well led and genuinely has an ethos of wanting to serve their residents well. I work as a GP locally, and have been to many residential and nursing homes across Kent. I can honestly say this is an excellent place. There is also lots of tech - cameras and sensors in the bed to also monitor your loved one. The entertainment programme is dynamic and varied, the staff (carers and nurses) really know the residents well. The care is the most important thing, but so is the beautiful setting as well. I love the European model of the dementia village where people have their own apartment in a real house, but the security and company of the hub - this place is truly legendary!

After my experience with another care home I was sceptical about coming to Dover House but they have proved me wrong. They are considerate, kind and quick to help if they can. Whilst I enjoy the activities provided I would like there to be a wider range. I would like the range of food to be wider, particularly
for the two main options of the day.
Reply from Nomusa Muhlwa, Registered Manager at Dover HouseThank you, Susan, we shall ensure the head chef comes to speak to you about food as we have two options and a comprehensive bar menu should anyone not fancy the main meals. We shall also continue to look into activities as a lot of disruption occurred with lift issues and unexpected situations such as illness can sometimes affect activities. We endeavour to continually improve in this domain.

My wife has been a resident at this home for the past 5 months. She suffered a stroke and has severe mobility and communication problems. She has received not only a high level of care, but the staff have been very patient and built trust and mutual understanding with her, patiently working with her
to understand her immediate needs and wishes. They have also been extremely considerate towards family and friends who are indirectly affected by the position she finds herself in. Even the staff not involved directly with care or medical issues have been fantastic to deal with. Any institution is only as good as the staff and we feel that the staff here have been wonderful. The activities rating is not ticked as she is bedbound and unable to participate in the events that have been laid on for residents.
