Based in Stepney Green, East London, Westport plays an active part of the local community. The beautiful 41-bed home provides respite care and long-term care for people who require residential, residential dementia and end of life care.

The dedicated team, many of whom live locally, work in partnership with each person who lives at the home, and their loved ones, to encourage residents to keep active and plan their own daily routines; making their own choices and supporting people to remain as independent as possible. The home is a place of freedom and respect, where people are supported to have a life well lived, each and every day.

I must say I was really impressed with the whole experience. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the property was very clean, tidy and easy to get around. We had enough privacy to have some quality time with my nan but the security to know there was always someone around if we needed them. Most
importantly my Nan is settled and seems very comfortable.

As a family, we had viewed 4 or 5 homes in the East London area. From the homes viewed, only one of the care managers bothered to visit our home, in order to ascertain our mother's needs. During this home visit, it was clear Westport's manager had a deep understanding and empathy toward our mother's
needs. This gave us great reassurance for a possible placement within Westport. This initial feeling turned out to be spot on, as we couldn't be more pleased with how the first week's stay, has gone. Any slight teething problems were sorted as soon as a word was had with the manager. Efficiency is the name of the day.

My mum has been at Westport for almost three years now. The care and support she receives are excellent. Mum has dementia and the care staff treat Mum with dignity and respect, they are very experienced, helpful and understanding of her needs. There are many activities in which Mum engages, enjoys and
which are suited to her. The care staff were brilliant during the Covid lockdown and activities still continued. Covid restrictions meant that, for her own and others' protection, Mum didn't have the freedom she had, but this was managed very well. When restrictions were lifted, Mum continued to enjoy the freedom to go into areas of the home including the lovely garden; she enjoys feeling helpful e.g. is not restricted from helping in the kitchen if she wishes. If Mum wants to go outside of the home for a walk, to the shops or to the park, the care staff are always willing to escort her. Mum is very happy at Westport, she says she feels part of the family. I am very pleased with Westport.

My mum has been at Westport Care Home for over three years and it has always been evident that it is a person-centred care environment. Every resident is special. The staff and residents are one big family who cares for each other. It has a homely environment every time I visit my mum who looks happy
and stimulated. The communication is efficient and clear and I get regular updates on my mum's day whenever I ask. The activities are endless so I feel a lot of managing takes place to ensure the residents have fun. My mum is happy and responsive on visits and on the phone which means a lot to me and my family. Well done, Westport.

My mum has been a resident since May 2019.
And I am extremely happy with Westport with the exceptional care the staff give her. Mum's happiness and her progress and seeing my mum happy is all that matters to my family. The care provided for my mum has been nothing but exceptional and the carers are

I'd like to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am for the care and support my mum-in-law is receiving from all the staff at Westport. Her room is lovely, clean and tidy with her personal pictures in it to make it feel more homely. The staff are extremely kind, lovely and helpful taking great
care of her and making us feel very welcome when we're able to visit. Her health and wellness is paramount with excellent service. The staff take great pride in their daily workload, with activities such as painting, making things, baking, as well as everyday chores like laundry and washing up to help keep the residents stimulated and active if they wish to participate in.

My neighbour moved into Westport at the start of the year when she had been severely neglected in her home by carers.
I can’t tell you how happy I am with the care she is now receiving. Her hair which was matted before has been brushed through patiently by one of the workers. She looks well, has put
on weight and is very content in being at Westport.
The staff go above and beyond to make her happy and to meet any families requests. It makes a real difference to be a part of a home where the carers really do care.
The home is always organising activities and keeping the residents entertained.
The home is always clean, and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Westport to any family.

Visiting this home is a delight. The manager is incredible and goes above and beyond and in her absence her deputy steps in her place with the same attitude. That nothing is not important that they do not stop what they are doing to talk to you. I love that this as home from home.

I am very pleased with the care my grandmother receives at Westport, the home has a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are kind and caring, and the manager is also very caring and attentive. They recently did a lovely birthday party for my grandmother which she very much enjoyed.

I really enjoy visiting my brother here. The home is just like going into his home. The staff are so welcoming and have been since he first arrived. I like that there is not a lot of different staff and he knows all of them now.

Rajiv Mungur

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

Originally from Mauritius, Rajiv came to the UK and did a Diploma in Hospitality Management and Guest Relationships in 2004. I joined Excel Care as a Unit Manager in 2015 and managed one whole floor which consisted of people living with Dementia. Rajiv was well-positioned to meet the challenging needs of people living with Dementia and built empathetic relationships with the patients. In 2019, Rajiv was promoted to Support Operation Manager for the same company which required a high level of delegation and people management. In June 2023 I was promoted to be a home manager for Westport Care Home.

Lekshmi was a nurse in a native place in Kerala India. Lekshmi came to the UK in 2008 and completed her NVQ level 4 in Health and Social care. Lekshmi started her career with Excel Care Holdings in 2008. First, I worked as a team leader and progressed to senior, and now, I am a deputy.
