I am very happy with the care being given to my uncle. Compared to his previous care home, he appears well-kempt, cheerful and happy in himself. He states that he likes it here, he's able to move about freely and the staff are very nice and fit. He enjoys his food and sleeps well. He is happy that his
partner visits and spends time almost daily. He has gained weight compared to when he was first admitted. His family abroad are seeing him via Whatsapp and recent photos taken and are very happy to see the positive change in his appearance and well-being.

Mum has been here for a couple of months and settled in well. She loves dancing and has been to the seaside. The staff are always very friendly, no matter what time we pop in. Mum likes the food and has made friends here. She has spent a lot of time in the garden and has taken up activities she had
given up some years ago (crocheting/knitting/dancing).

I visited my mother-in-law and both the deputy manager and the member of care staff were very welcoming. The deputy manager and member of staff were both able to be very informative about my mother-in-law's situation. I could see that she was well-cared for and that she was being treated with dignity

I am happy with the care. The only thing that I am unhappy about is that when my family member is sick they don't let me know straight away.

The staff are very helpful and attentive, always willing to support my dad. The home is very clean and well maintained. During the first few months, my dad struggled to settle in but the staff have done the best they can to make him comfortable, which we have noticed as a big improvement to when he
first arrived at the care home. We are now content with the care being provided for my dad and are happy with our choice in choosing this care home.

My name is Nicole Smith, and I am honoured to serve as the Senior Lead Nurse at Waterside Care Home. I joined the team in 2023 to support the launch of the Avon Unit, bringing with me over seven years of nursing experience spanning acute hospital care, care homes, and specialist palliative care within the community. Being part of the Avon Unit’s development from the ground up has been both a rewarding and professionally enriching experience.


Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for caring for others—particularly those with complex needs and at vulnerable stages of life. My background in specialist palliative care has taught me the importance of dignity, empathy, and personalised support, which I strive to uphold in every aspect of my role.


As Senior Lead Nurse, I am responsible for leading the nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality, and person-centred care. This includes administering medications, managing complex health needs, mentoring junior staff, and developing comprehensive care plans. I also work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure we provide a compassionate and nurturing environment for both residents and colleagues.

Hello My Name is Theresa, the Resident Ambassador here at Waterside. Having worked in the NHS for many years, campaigned with Friends Of The Earth, and worked as a Medical Secretary, I have the experience of getting to the bottom of what people need.


It is my pleasure to be a voice for the residents here at our home, and personally I believe that discussions are important for everyone. I endeavour to take into account the cost of things that we may want, whilst being reasonable and considering, will it be really useful, and is it worth it, as being organic, and fair trade is of interest to me.
