Home very caring, have been very strict with Covid rules to keep everyone safe. Can be a little difficult to see our loved ones at short notice, but hopefully now restrictions are lifted we will be able to visit more often again.

My main concern is the difficulty in booking to see my family member. Plenty of lovely staff members. Some more visibility of the activities might be a good addition to the programme.

Some staff are fantastic, some not so hands-on. It's a nice home if you have mental health problems or severe disabilities. But my dad is well and just has mobility problems and would've liked the company of the residents. Unfortunately, most have mental disabilities so he's unable to make friends. But overall, good, unfortunately, due to covid, not much is going on so can't comment further.

This is a heartfelt thank you from myself for the kindness, decency and care given during the time my sister has been here. It is in difficult times like this when our family needed you most. Every time I come, I am greeted with kindness and decency and on bended knee, thank you for being our family and being a loving sister to my sister. You are now our family, thank you and God bless.

Over the last 14 months whilst there have been restrictions in place my family have been fortunate we have been able to see mum via skype which has been really good. Whilst sometimes technology had not worked s a visit was not possible on the whole we had access to see mum. The staff have been very responsive to my mum's needs.

Since the Covid pandemic started, I would like to commend the Care staff, Housekeeping, Kitchen staff and Management and Supervisor for doing an amazing job in keeping Mum and other residents safe and themselves. Also, I would like to say thank you for organising video calls through the covid pandemic, which has helped me and mum to be able to communicate. I'm also glad now to be able to see mum in person and be able to hold her hand. It's wonderful to see that smile on her face and mine. Thank you all.

We recently had a Zoom call during lockdown with mum as this is the only way of seeing/interacting with her at the moment. The Home Manager was brilliant and arranged everything very quickly for us. She set-up the call, sent over the Zoom invite via email and it all worked seamlessly. It was really lovely to see mum and we are looking forward to when the home opens up again for visits. Many thanks to the staff for all your hard work, help and support, it is very much appreciated!

My name is Nicole Smith, and I am honoured to serve as the Senior Lead Nurse at Waterside Care Home. I joined the team in 2023 to support the launch of the Avon Unit, bringing with me over seven years of nursing experience spanning acute hospital care, care homes, and specialist palliative care within the community. Being part of the Avon Unit’s development from the ground up has been both a rewarding and professionally enriching experience.

Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for caring for others—particularly those with complex needs and at vulnerable stages of life. This includes administering medications, managing complex health needs, mentoring junior staff, and developing comprehensive care plans. I also work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure we provide a compassionate and nurturing environment for both residents and colleagues.

What I value most is the strong culture of teamwork and shared commitment that defines Waterside. I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents while supporting and empowering those I work alongside. Hello My Name is Theresa, the Resident Ambassador here at Waterside. Having worked in the NHS for many years, campaigned with Friends Of The Earth, and worked as a Medical Secretary, I have the experience of getting to the bottom of what people need.

It is my pleasure to be a voice for the residents here at our home, and personally I believe that discussions are important for everyone.
