The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Our relative appears to be happy and well cared for although she needs to see the hairdresser. Despite the Covid restrictions operations are running smoothly and we are being informed of visiting times. Unable to comment on activities and food as I have not witnessed
these.

The staff are very helpful, our relative seems happy and well cared for. We are kept informed if there are any problems with our relative, i.e. if she is unwell. Her room is well kept and is comfortable. Unable to comment on food and drink, activities or value for money.

Home very caring, have been very strict with Covid rules to keep everyone safe. Can be a little difficult to see our loved ones at short notice, but hopefully now restrictions are lifted we will be able to visit more often again.

I thought that the swab testing was excellent. Staff are very friendly and caring. Also they really cared for my father in his last days, especially the cook. He enjoyed the Food.

My main concern is the difficulty in booking to see my family member. Plenty of lovely staff members. Some more visibility of the activities might be a good addition to the programme.

Some staff are fantastic, some not so hands-on. It's a nice home if you have mental health problems or severe disabilities. But my dad is well and just has mobility problems and would've liked the company of the residents. Unfortunately, most have mental disabilities so he's unable to make friends.
But overall, good, unfortunately, due to covid, not much is going on so can't comment further.

Over the last 14 months whilst there have been restrictions in place my family have been fortunate we have been able to see mum via skype which has been really good. Whilst sometimes technology had not worked s a visit was not possible on the whole we had access to see mum. The staff have been very

My name is Nicole Smith, and I am honoured to serve as the Senior Lead Nurse at Waterside Care Home. I joined the team in 2023 to support the launch of the Avon Unit, bringing with me over seven years of nursing experience spanning acute hospital care, care homes, and specialist palliative care within the community. Being part of the Avon Unit’s development from the ground up has been both a rewarding and professionally enriching experience.


Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for caring for others—particularly those with complex needs and at vulnerable stages of life. My background in specialist palliative care has taught me the importance of dignity, empathy, and personalised support, which I strive to uphold in every aspect of my role.


As Senior Lead Nurse, I am responsible for leading the nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality, and person-centred care. This includes administering medications, managing complex health needs, mentoring junior staff, and developing comprehensive care plans. I also work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure we provide a compassionate and nurturing environment for both residents and colleagues.

It is my pleasure to be a voice for the residents here at our home, and personally I believe that discussions are important for everyone. I endeavour to take into account the cost of things that we may want, whilst being reasonable and considering, will it be really useful, and is it worth it, as being organic, and fair trade is of interest to me.
