Review from Hazel H (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 January 2018 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My mother has lived in Abbey Care Home for 5 years and, as someone who is elderly and frail, but does not have dementia, she has been very well looked after. This is not the plushest of homes and the building appears to visitors to be a little dated, but it is set in pleasant gardens and, more importantly,
the staff provide loving care and do their best to create a family atmosphere. Because it is only a small home, staff know all the residents well and work hard to provide personalised care for them. They welcome relatives and respond to suggestions for improvement, while the staff is also very stable with little turnover. Relatives also have their own support group and meet regularly with the manager to discuss life at the home.

It is possible to find newer homes which can offer bigger bedrooms and more facilities but, in terms of feeling safe and loved, my mother is happy and I am content that she is being well cared for. At the end of the day, that is the most important thing.

I work as a volunteer at Abbey Care Home, It has a warm and friendly environment to work in.
The staff are friendly and helpful and treat the residents with dignity and respect
giving the home a warm and caring environment for the residents.
I enjoy every moment I am there and have made lots of
friends amongst the relatives, residents and staff.

My mother has dementia, her needs are met satisfactorily, any problems are noticed and a doctor informed and I am informed. My mother cannot get involved in any of the activities but for those that can maybe this could have some improvement in this area.
