Review from S W (Friend of Resident) published on 7 March 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Very kind and attentive care. A lot of activities for the residents to take part in. Food seems to be good and regularly served. A happy atmosphere among carers. Clean and well maintained. I have been going regularly to see my friend for the five years she has been resident and have been impressed by The Meadow she is happy there.

Reply from Deborah Langton, Area Manager at The Meadow

The home seems very nice and organised. The only problem I do have is that socks and underwear seem to go missing. I understand this can be difficult and I have addressed it with the home. They are extremely caring, very kind indeed.

Reply from Deborah Langton, Area Manager at The Meadow

Thank you Pauline for kindly writing this review. I am glad that you have experienced the warm caring service delivered at the Meadow to your friend. Apologies that some underwear has gone missing, I note you have addressed this with the home. Please do inform the manager Sirisha should this occur again.

My mother was The meadow for three week's respite care. She never really settled in but it was very difficult for her to be away from her home in Staffordshire. The home was good on the whole and staff were helpful and friendly, but my mother found them difficult to understand at times. She could have done with fewer different people coming in as she found this confusing.

This was my first visit and I arrived first thing in the morning as I travel from Kent. The team were brilliant, so friendly and caring. They worked non-stop throughout the entire morning. Their passion and compassion for every resident was a joy to see. I leave here today, feeling so grateful that my mum is in such wonderful hands. It is difficult being so far away but they have made it a happy, pleasant home for my mum and all the residents. I have total respect and gratitude to the team I met here today. I could not wish for my mum to be in a nicer place with nicer people. Thank you.

My sister and I visited the care home and both decided that this would be the perfect place for my mother. During this visit a woman approached us to tell us that she has looked at a lot of care homes and this was the best one that she had seen.

The atmosphere was pleasant there was nice sense of space, it was clean and the people seemed content. The staff were kind and helpful, so we were very happy when my mother was accepted into this home. I felt that it was the perfect environment for my mother to be in.

My mother's sudden arrival at the care home was handled with sensitivity and the minimum of fuss. The environment is bright and well cared for. It is very clean and organised in such a way that residents are safe at all times whilst being given the opportunity to move freely between shared areas. Staff are attentive without being overbearing. Care plans are detailed and accessible at all times. Family members are welcomed and encouraged to contribute to the care of residents. The management is professional at all times.

Review from Catherine W (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 August 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My father has had a very good overall experience at the home since his arrival in February 2016. He seems very happy and settled. The staff are very attentive and show a lot of patience and respect towards him. The facilities and the environment are very good and it's great to be surrounded by well-kept gardens in an urban area. The other residents seem very pleasant and friendly. My father's transition from his home in Yorkshire to a residential home in London (to be close to my brother) has gone extremely well - better than expected and The Meadows has played a large part in this.

Reply from Deborah Langton, Area Manager at The Meadow

I talked to the management team after my sister's recent visit to hospital (by no means her first) after a seizure. They convinced me of what we should do next - and more importantly of what we should not do next - in the current circumstances.

I am happy that my sister is as happy and comfortable as it is possible for her to be, granted her condition, being cared for by The Meadow. They know her, they understand her, they treat her well.

My experience of The Meadow has been very positive. In particular my relative has been cared for after a bout of pneumonia with kindness and professionalism. (Unlike previous care I have experienced). The staff have made my aunt always feel safe even when she has been difficult. All in all I think The Meadow does a great job.
