My Mother is receiving the best care possible. The carers are kind and caring and it makes me at peace knowing how well she has been cared for.

Well done Northbourne Court.

All the staff in my uncle's suite know him well, treat him with respect and you can see they care for him. They are always polite and make me feel welcome. We like that we can take him to the communal area by the lifts where it is peaceful and he can play the piano if he wants to. Due to not having teeth, he has to have pureed food which he isn't keen on but will eat when he is hungry.

Dad moved in just over two months ago and has settled in well. We have had a few teething problems which is to be expected, largely communication and expectations from us and staff. However, when raised they have been dealt with quickly. It is such a hard decision to make but I feel we have been well supported and reassured that Dad is being looked after.

I would like to place on record the care given to my wife during a very difficult time on Monday the 13th of May. The previous Friday, she started to lean very badly to the left, it was recommended that we should attend the local hospital unfortunately due to her extreme level of agitation, I felt this might be a mistake raising her anxiety levels to a non-manageable degree. The doctor agreed and recommended we try pain relief. The weekend went well, my wife was upright again, up until Monday afternoon when things went badly downhill. She was much worse and resisted any help from me, the two care staff at the time were regulars as my wife has got to know these staff members, she needed assistance walking and nobody else would do. In conclusion, my wife then had to go to hospital but with her level of agitation they could not send in the ambulance with one crew member so another ambulance had to be called. Thank you so much to the carers, now all is well.

My praise goes to the management and the staff of Nothbourne Court for being the best place for my Mother. The activities, food, and service are 5 stars. Thank you for all you do, my Mum's health has improved significantly, she is so active at the home. I have no concerns as my Mum feels safe living at Northbourne Court.

We have always found the staff to be both attentive and helpful.

I visited the home very recently and what I saw was very impressive. My friend was well taken care of by the staff members who were nothing but nice and very approachable attending to all my friend's needs promptly. I saw a very comfortable environment and interesting activities at the piazza within the short moment I spent with my friend. Overall, I love the home.

When I came to the care home, I was a 7-stone man unable to walk without the aid of a Zimmer frame. Due to the brilliant care from all the staff members and the brilliant range of quality food, I am now a 12, sixty-something, fully fit man. Activity members would knock on my door, wait for me to waddle up to the pizza, get me seated and when the muscle started, get me up to dance, Zimmer and all. A brilliant 90-minute of daily entertainment. It made me realise that these people were not just carers. They really cared.

Putting mum into a care home 18 months ago was the scariest thing I have ever had to do due to the stigma attached to a lot of care homes. I have to say that Northbourne Court has been the best thing I could have done for Mum, she is now living a much better life than I could have imagined, she takes part in the many activities the home do, all the staff are so caring and attentive. It feels more like a luxury hotel than a care home, you can tell the staff know they are working in the resident's home and really do their best to make them feel like they are at home. My mum has Alzheimer’s and 18 months ago was so anxious being in her own home and I thought I had lost the ‘mum’ I know and love but now thanks to the brilliant care and support of the staff. Mum is now thriving.

There are some good staff here but also bad. I actually wonder why people that are uncaring want to work in an industry where it is all about caring for people. I am so sad that my Nan's life ended here. She deserved better care and attention. Luckily she had a loving family. Some residents don't have any family and are all alone. Please do your research before picking a care home. There are many review sites. Look at as many review sites as you can before you make a decision. We will all be old one day. Things really need to change in the care industry.

Since my mother has been at Northbourne Court, I have found her care exceptional. The staff are always caring, polite and friendly. The activities are very and very frequent. The summer fair was an amazing event, so inclusive, with great food, great entertainment, and so much fun for everyone.

Residents are treated horribly! Leaving them unattended for long periods of time, no hygiene given to the patients and they are forced to eat food that they don’t want. Staff don’t care about residents.

Would not recommend it. They do not help feed, wash or care. They let them walk around naked while the workers are on their phones in the same room. There’s a lack of everything there if I could show photos I would. The food I wouldn’t even serve to my dog. It’s horrific.

My mother has been a resident at Northbourne Court for over seven years. During that time I have found the staff to be very warm and caring and they have taken time to respond to my mother's needs. In my experience the standard of cleanliness and maintenance has been good and, on the whole, my mother has enjoyed her meals. During the last few months, my mother's needs have become more complex and staff have provided excellent care and kept me informed.

As usual Northbourne Court was very well kept and all the residents seem happy. The entertainment team do very well and all the facilities are very good. The only complaint we heard at any time was about the catering, especially as the main meals are not very hot when served.

My mum has been a resident for just over a year. Care was excellent initially and I really couldn't fault it. More recently this has slipped. We no longer see the same carers that were very familiar to my family and my mum. The carers that we do see are lovely, but there is not much interaction or consistency. I'm the main contact for my mum and I'm constantly having to chase for updates and information. Her legs and feet are in a poor state. Earlier in the year she fell and broke her hip and I have had to chase to ensure that there is follow up treatment as she was no longer able to bear any weight independently. Finally we had confirmation that she would be receiving physiotherapy but I haven't seen her walk since, as she is constantly in a wheel chair when out of her room. Lastly, her birthday was completely missed. Whilst it is not a huge issue, we have family overseas that like to see updates and I had to chase for this to happen. It was recognised a week later.

Overall I am satisfied with the care my husband receives. I have recently purchased a wheelchair for his use, as there seems to be never enough for the residents who need one. I feel that Avante should be able to provide this facility.

Although I had to choose a month, this review relates to all months. I would like to say how happy my mum is at Northbourne Court. There are always loads of activities and she always enjoys taking part in them. The staff are very caring and have a great deal of empathy with the residents, they really are excellent.
