My grandmother has been at Acacia Lodge now for over 18 months. In the past year, there have been vast improvements; the communication between myself and the manager has been great, allowing me to keep in touch during Covid through video calls, sending me regular updates on her health and well-being, pictures, and videos of activities. Overall I have no negative comments. I am very happy with her care and wellbeing. Any health issues are addressed immediately and I’m always informed.

Dear Helen, thank you for your lovely review. It so good to hear that both you and your grandmother are so happy. We are glad you have noticed the further improvements as we have been working hard to provide a great service for our residents. Kat, Marketing/Design, Acacia Lodge.

Acacia is very well run and the carers are, well, caring. They are patient and engage with my mother, get her out amongst the others and encourage her. She has 3 meals a day and is well enough nourished to visibly maintain her weight. She shows no signs of dehydration. Her bed is comfortable and safe. Her room has French windows although the garden is small. The decor is tidy and clean, not shabby, not beautiful rather is functional. I don’t think my mother really notices such things. The boss is available and I visit regularly, Covid secure.

My mum is a resident at the care home and the care she receives is exceptional. I receive regular updates from the managers regarding my mum's care and activities that are taking place at the care home. This was really reassuring for the family, especially during the pandemic. I am happy my mother has such great carers looking after her.

Reply from Kat Pringsheim, Marketing and Design at Acacia Lodge

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are pleased to hear you have regular updates about your mum's care and activities. This is so important and appears to have given you peace of mind that she is being well looked after. Your mother is doing well and we look forward to staying in touch. My mother had been a resident at Acacia Lodge for over 2 years when I could go and see her just after the travel ban was lifted. She was happy and in good health as I had always seen her in the home. I found Acacia Lodge an outstanding place of residence for my mother who could not take care of herself but was so well looked after that I never doubted I could not have made a better choice. The place has always been extremely clean too, all staff are extremely helpful and kind. Just what one expects an ideal care place should be.

We are extremely happy with the care Acacia home is providing for our mother. Whenever I have visited, I have always found my mother in law happy and well presented. She is looked after very well and she is very content to be there. All the staff members are very helpful and kind. Whenever you call they always find the time to speak to you. The management team has been wonderful and provides excellent care and looks after the needs of all the patients.

Both their services, procedures and processes are exceptional. Their staffs are diligent and are always focused, security-wise they are well secured, with a lot of PPE in place to protect. both the staff and residents from the on-going crisis caused by COVID-19.

Acacia Lodge is a pleasant place to live, well decorated and tidy, with good, wholesome and attractive food. The residents are well cared for on a one to one basis with kind and understanding staff and have plenty of activities to stimulate. Friends and family are kept in contact with the staff and social workers and informed of any activities in which they can participate (such as parties). There is a garden area and outings in the summer.

I have found Acacia Lodge to be a welcoming, homely, clean and extremely well managed residential home. My mother moved into Acacia Lodge early October, has made many new friends and has never looked back. All the staff and especially the carers are highly experienced, motivated and professional people resulting in my mother being very well cared for and made safe.

It is very difficult to find a good care home so I consider I have been very lucky to secure a place for my mother in such a professional, warm, caring and secure environment where nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff. I would highly recommend Acacia Lodge to any person looking to place their loved one in care. This residential home really does make a difference to peoples lives.

Dad is well looked after, always clean and always treated with dignity. Carers are always around to help and one carer also speaks his language which helps him a lot and he is happier being around them.
I would like to take him out one afternoon for lunch or a church service which would also make Mum happy.
He has been here for about a year now, he is very settled and happy.

He is happy to stay and feels this is now his home.

Overall Experience

Staff were able to assess my mother's needs and establish a plan of care that met her needs, which I was allowed to review as well when she moved into Acacia Lodge. When her needs changed this was updated and I was fully informed at all times. I liked that I was able to continue to participate in her care and also bring her home cooked food as well.

It was a difficult decision moving her into residential care, but the care and attention given by all the staff helped immensely as the staff are approachable and friendly and have a good understanding of the special needs of the residents. The staff also cared for my mother until her death and I cannot fault the effort staff made to ensure that her care needs were met with regards to working with district nursing services and the GP, and also how they delivered the palliative and then end of life care with dignity and compassion and for that I cannot thank them enough.

Thank you so much for taking such good care of dad. The staff and management at Acacia Lodge have been amazing. You all do a great public service and society owes you a massive debt. I know dad, in his last months, received excellent care and he passed in dignity and I'm very grateful for that.
