Warren Lodge

My husband has had a year in Warren Lodge and his condition was extremely challenging. He needed 24-hour watching due to never keeping still so was prone to falls. He had already been to hospital before he went into Warren Lodge with a hip fracture. I cannot praise the staff enough. He died a few days ago and they made him so comfortable and treated him with so much kindness and respect, I cannot thank them enough.

My mother has been a resident at Warren Lodge for well over a year now. From the very beginning, she has been very happy there and is always telling me how well looked after she is. Having to place a loved one into a care home is never an easy or straightforward decision, and a lot of time and consideration is needed when selecting the one that most meets their needs. My sister and I did a lot of research and took a lot of information into consideration before deciding what would suit mum best. Ultimately we decided on Warren Lodge and I have to say that at no point have we regretted the decision to put her in their care. Mum's needs and requirements are always well met or exceeded and we have had very good support throughout especially given the ongoing situation with COVID. At no point in the past year have I had to worry about whether mum was being looked after. All my calls are greeted with a happy voice telling me how happy and well looked after she is.

I would like to say that after living at Warren Lodge for a few months now, I am happy to say that I am making the decision to stay permanently. My reasons are that the staff are very nice and look after me very well. They are friendly, happy and they make me happy and smile every day. Before coming to Warren Lodge, I lived at my own home for many years, and I don't think I ever wanted to leave my home. However, when the time came for me to need more help and support, I am glad I came to Warren Lodge. I have everything here now, and this is my home.

Warren Lodge is bright and airy and the gardens are lovely to look out upon and walk around at any time of the year but especially in the warmer months when they come into their own. Mum has been a resident since December 2017 and all the team know her well. Her advanced dementia means active communication is very difficult, however, the carers understand her needs and always treat her with love, dignity and a great deal of patience. This has always been a great comfort to her family but particularly in the past year, when we have been unable to see her as often as we would hope. As a visitor, I have always found staff and residents alike to be friendly and welcoming and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Warren Lodge to anybody seeking care provision.

I had to make the very difficult decision to move my beloved Godmother from her long-time home in Essex in 2016 as her dementia had worsened and she needed full-time care. How lucky we were to find Warren Lodge. Not only was it very local, meaning I could visit often, but it gave her a new lease of life where she enjoyed the socialising, the company of other residents, trips out, activities and entertainment. She settled in very quickly and had made a new best friend within a few weeks. She loved having her hair done, her nails painted and generally being pampered. She regained her appetite and enjoyed the excellent meals prepared by the catering team and I was welcome to join her for meals. I cannot praise the Manager and his team highly enough for their wonderful care of my Godmother throughout the five years when Warren Lodge was her home. She was always treated with love, kindness, dignity, and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Highly recommended.

We are extremely satisfied with the care that is provided and with the food; we feel that we are in a five-star hotel. I want to say a big thank you to the care staff and the management. I will recommend this care home to everybody.

In late June 2020, I had to make the most difficult of decisions as I had reached the time when I could no longer cope with care for my wife as she suffered with Vascular Dementia. Having visited a number of care homes, I instinctively knew that Warren Lodge was right for her needs. I soon realised that I had made the right decision. Yes, the initial period of isolation due to the pandemic was difficult for us both, but I soon observed that she was quite comfortable in the presence of staff members always smiling with them and that told me she was more than comfortable and that she was content. I also saw that she was kept clean and always dressed in her matching outfits, no mean feat in the circumstances. In the four months, she was at Warren Lodge, I found the staff to be caring, patient and very professional. I put this down to the leadership of the manager. My wife had been a care manager, and she received the care she herself strove for others.

My husband was admitted to Warren Lodge when he was weak and disabled, in what turned out to be his last fortnight of living with dementia. I had previous knowledge of the home and knew it to be a very caring, professional environment. All the staff cared for him so well at this very difficult time and I saw how hard they all worked to keep residents happy. They really cared about him and he settled in immediately; feeling safe and reassured and I was welcomed too. Now one of my next-door neighbour has gone to live there, her children found it themselves after looking around local homes. If I need care in the future I would be happy to go there myself.

When my sister-in-law and I viewed Warren Lodge, we came away feeling it had a warm and caring feel. The Manager took time with us and answered all of our questions. My mother-in-law has been a resident now for 4 months and the provisions and care they have put in place and provide is 10/10. Nothing is ever too much trouble and even through these uncertain times with COVID, all staff greet you with a smile and a warm welcome. If like us, you are worried about where to start looking for a care home for your loved one, I would highly recommend Warren Lodge.

Since Dad moved into Warren Lodge over a year ago now, the care team have done a fantastic job at settling Dad in and making him feel right at home. The care team at Warren lodge are extremely welcoming and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. Fantastic.

I found the Care Manager extremely helpful, friendly and they spent a lot of time with us prior to my aunt and uncle moving into the home. Nothing was too much trouble and our minds were put at ease immediately. We were shown around safely and the house and grounds are beautiful. Over the last 2 months, we have found the staff and manager so friendly, welcoming and they keep us fully informed about everything. We have seen great improvements with both my aunt and uncle and the transition from moving them was easier and less stressful than we ever imagined due to the helpfulness of the manager and all the staff. Thank you for making us feel so connected with our family, even during the pandemic. I also like the social media aspect and can see what different activities the residents are doing each week. Thank you.

After spending an hour talking to the care manager in a pre-admission chat...I knew that Warren Lodge was the place for us. His professionalism and obvious dedication made our minds up before we were shown round a lovely room where my sister-in-law and husband would call home. In just a matter of weeks, the improvement shown by them both were beyond expectation. The staff are so friendly, and nothing is too much trouble..always going the extra mile. Highly recommended.

Myself and the rest of the family of my mother feel very fortunate to have been able to secure a placement at Warren House for her. The love and care I saw shown towards her was all I could have wished for during the last months of her life. Particularly as it was the time of the pandemic and we are very grateful to the team for the way she was looked after during these difficult times. I would have no hesitation in recommending Warren Lodge care home to anyone in a similar situation.

Warren Lodge is the most welcoming home. The staff and management have been so helpful during these trying times of Covid19, looking after my wife and keeping her smiling, looking very well and entertained. Visiting in the lovely garden during the summer Warren Lodge supplying PPE. This has been a wonderful decision for me and my family to move here since the last home closed down last year nothing is to much trouble for the staff, so relaxing. The manager has always had time to discuss any matters with you. Thanks very much to all the staff.

What a wonderful experience my visit was to see two of our members and friends from The Daffodil Club (for those living with dementia and their carers). With the Covid restrictions being extremely tight for care homes I hadn't expected my visit to be so relaxed and enjoyable, wearing a mask and keeping the social distancing creates a barrier but for those living with dementia the barrier is extreme. However, the manager greeted me warmly and took me to my friends who were in a lovely bright garden area chatting with a carer. We were served refreshments and then spent a lovely time reminiscing. During my two visits, I saw residents planting autumn bedding with carers as well as other indoor activities going on through the windows. On my second visit to celebrate my friend's birthday I was amazed to see balloons around the gazebo where we were to sit and staff and residents joined us to sing happy birthday! Thank you to the manager and carers for giving us such a wonderful time.

I give Warren Lodge five stars.

The initial decision for Mum to move to care home, as her dementia was progressing rapidly, was incredibly hard. When we were advised that her care home was closing within only 9 months of her moving there, we went through another traumatic time, as a family. We finally found Warren Lodge, having visited many care homes in the area. We felt that it was the only one that seemed more like a home, friendly and warm, clean but not too clinical, with a lovely garden. On the move day the staff immediately welcomed Mum, making a big fuss of her, whilst also ensuring Dad and I were looked after. She settled incredibly quickly and seemed very comfortable with the staff. The team are very kind and supportive and try to involve Mum in the activities, she prefers to watch but enjoys the liveliness. When we visit, Mum is nearly always smiling and happy, which is very reassuring. It has been great to be able to visit Mum in the garden during the COVID situation.

We felt secure in the knowledge that the staff had her best interests at heart. They were wonderful during her last months.

Our friend was a resident of Warren Lodge for six years and the staff were always extremely friendly and kind. Whenever we visited staff were often popping in to deliver water or tea etc. Our friend was very happy living in the home and enjoyed chatting with the staff who cared for her very well. She was keen to stay in her room and they respected her wishes although we all often encouraged her to join in with all the lovely activities on offer! The staff took time to be with her and help her which was much appreciated. We thank everyone for looking after our friend so well.

This year has been especially challenging recognising that my mum needed to move into a fully supported setting in the midst of COVID lockdown. Thankfully my dad had previously viewed the setting so when the time came to make the difficult decision to ask for a place, the team at Warren Lodge made the transition as easy as possible for both my mum and dad who was left at home. From the moment the team came out to see us at my parents' home, they exuded a warmth and that has continued throughout my mum's stay from the whole team. Everyone is always very welcoming and the regular visits have either taken place on the lovely large patio in the extensive gardens or inside when the weather has been less kind making use of one of the bedrooms with a conservatory attached to maintain social distancing. All the necessary procedures are in place in this regard and if you forget, they have PPE readily available for visitors. We cannot ask for more and would not hesitate in recommending.
