My Mother has been a resident for almost 2 years and throughout that time the manager and his team have been fantastic. They managed through the difficult initial period of my Mother settling in and soon after that, they had to deal with Covid and all that it entailed. IPads were made available for
calls so we maintained a connection with my Mother. I viewed a number of alternatives to Warren Lodge when I was looking for a care home for my Mother but I was struck by the genuine caring attitude of the manager for those in his care and that is mirrored in all his staff. My Mother prefers to stay in her room but that doesn't mean she is ignored equally she is not smothered and is treated with respect. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit and as I talk with my Mother it is clear to me that she is very happy and is relaxed in the home.
If you are looking for a care home for yourself or a relative then visit Warren Lodge, you will struggle to find somewhere better.

I cannot praise this care home and all the staff enough; it is exceptional. We had tried Dad, who has dementia, in another care home last year, but it didn't go well, so he has had a live-in carer since then, but now this was no longer an option. As soon as my sister and I were greeted at the door and
met the wonderful manager, we knew it was the right place for Dad. I visited the home four or five times with Dad to meet the staff, have lunch and join in the activities so he would be prepared when a room became available. When it did, it was difficult to drop Dad off and walk away, but the staff have been there for me as much as Dad with hugs, daily updates, photos and reassurance that all would be well despite a very difficult start as Dad is not an easy resident. The guilt is immense, but with every passing day and Dad's increasing happiness, the relief slowly comes. Warren Lodge is amazing. I cannot recommend this care home enough. Thank you to the manager and team!

Mum has been at Warren Lodge for 18 months now and I am so relieved that we chose the Care Centre as she has been looked after 24/7 in the most caring way possible. All the team are friendly and very professional. Mum's welfare is the most important thing to them and us as a family so we can all relax
in the knowledge that she is being well looked after and her medication needs are dealt with efficiently. Every member of staff welcomes you and always has enough time to chat or discuss anything going on with Mum and they are never impatient. The residents are encouraged in activities and socialising but also given their own space when they want or need it. I never wanted Mum to have to leave her own home but when the decision had to be made we were reassured by the whole setup at Warren Lodge.

Out of the 3 homes we selected Mum chose Warren Lodge. The combination of age, dementia and Covid meant she was lonely and without any stimulation was getting more and more confused on her own. She moved in and we knew she was safe, but I felt so guilty. As window visits started it was so hard to see
a stranger comforting Mum, holding her hand and gently explaining things to her, it was an emotional rollercoaster. It all changed as we came out of lockdown and we were finally allowed into Warren Lodge, meeting the wonderful team that is the Warren Lodge Family who not only care for the residents but for the wider family as well. When Mum recently died at the age of 92, I was humbled by the outpouring of genuine emotion and love from the team as they said their goodbyes and opened up telling us lovely stories of times they had with Mum as they cared for her. I would not hesitate to recommend Warren Lodge and the wonderful team that makes it such a special home for those that live there.

I selected three care homes when Mum was in the early stages of dementia and took her to visit them. The first two were super-modern which was very impressive. But sitting comfortably on the sofa with cups of tea and goodies, chatting and laughing with the manager, made Warren Lodge the obvious choice.
We felt at home within minutes and thoughts of the other places vanished. Residents and members of the care team came past occasionally. They would stop briefly to say hi and introduce themselves. We felt like we'd been invited to a very jolly family gathering at a lovely country house. That was over two years ago and we still feel the same way each time we're welcomed through the doors of Warren Lodge.
She chose this home without hesitation. We are so glad because it's not just Mum that is being cared for with such great affection and consideration. This fabulous team of good people has guided and nurtured all my family so kindly, throughout this hard and distressing time in our lives.

My father moved into Warren Lodge in August 2020, the year Covid started spreading in the UK. Throughout the staff have done an exceptional job making my father as comfortable as possible while also providing his family with as much access as possible. At all times, the staff have been professional
but also kind and caring, to both my father and my family, despite my father's reluctance to stay at the home initially. He is now settled and happy living in the home, with frequent visits out to local tea shops, which helps jog memories, despite the rapid deterioration in his memory. Not sure what else anyone could have done to help with a very difficult time for both my father and the wider family.

My mom is in the care home for two years, and we are extremely happy with the care she is receiving. The manager is exceptional, and all the staff he is leading are polite, professional, helpful and approachable. An additional complication with my mom is that she doesn't speak any English, and communication
was always a problem. In Warren Lodge, however, there are enough staff who speak Russian, and they are always happy to speak to my Mom. Thank you very much!

After breaking my arm after a fall and suffering from acute pain and helplessness, I have spent three weeks of continuous sympathetic care at Warren Lodge. The kindness and supportiveness of the staff are exceptional and the warm family atmosphere health affirming. I enjoyed the elegance of the building
and the beautiful garden and the hanging baskets of petunias growing outside the windows and eating and chatting with other residents and service users.

Thank you to all the amazing staff at Warren Lodge who cared for both my grandparents at a time when they needed extra support. You are all so caring and it was lovely to see the individual relationships you had built with each of them. Nothing was ever a problem and you always made us feel welcome.
Care homes can feel strange but you made it feel like a 'home' and this can only come from the makings of a great team

Whilst my mum has been staying at Warren Lodge Care Home, she has been treated well given the care that was set out in her care plan. The staff at Warren lodge understood my mum's dementia and the issues that she would show. If at home she would have been unsafe wandering around the village, partly
clothed. Whereas at Warren Lodge she was safe, from going out into the outside on her own and falling over. there was always a member of staff who were fully trained in the dementia and care industry. The staff and especially when we visited came over as they would care for your loved one as to us. Made us very comfortable. Answered any questions and updates on my mum. I would certainly recommend the care home to anyone who needed help with their loved one who had dementia and needed help and advice. While thinking about this review I have notified a friend who has her mum struggling at home.
Warren Lodge chef modified the food as it was all home cooked, which she enjoyed!

My husband had suffered from Parkinson’s with Lewy Body Dementia for over 3 years. Caring for him at home was becoming very challenging and in order to recharge batteries my family and I decided on a period of respite care for him. Warren Lodge had been recommended to us and on our initial visit we
were not disappointed. We were made to feel so welcome by the manager and with the wonderfully relaxed feel of the Home and beautiful surroundings we immediately knew that my husband would be happy there. During the period of his respite care it soon became apparent that he was receiving the best possible care and attention by the wonderful staff and we were extremely grateful when he was welcomed there as a permanent resident. Due to the nature of his illness I know that he required extra attention on a daily basis and I could not have asked for more understanding and care, especially so during his final days. He always had a smile for members of staff too so I know he was happy there.

We moved our mother who has dementia into Warren Lodge for respite care whilst our father underwent major surgery for a 6 week period. We had visited some other homes but we had an immediate feeling that this was like home from home from the moment we stepped in. Sadly our father passed away and during
this very difficult time the Manager and staff have been incredibly supportive not only to our mother but to us as a family. Nothing has been too much trouble and the level of care for her has been excellent both physically and in particular emotionally; so much so that we are now hoping to make Warren Lodge her permanent home as she seems so settled.

Warren Lodge has looked after my father-in-law for 18 months until his death this month. It was a very difficult time during the Covid pandemic, but the care and attention he received were simply excellent. It is a very well managed home and all of the staff have been wonderful and have shown such care
and attention at all times, especially during his final weeks. The attention to detail has extended to supporting us through hard times and nothing has been too much trouble. It really does feel like an extended home. My mother-in-law has now moved in and is receiving the same excellent care. Thank you all very much!

My Dad was admitted to Warren Lodge when his wife was taken terminally ill. He had Alzheimer's.
From the very start, the manager and carers were very attentive to his needs. He didn't really understand that his wife was poorly and the team were very sensitive to the difficulty of the situation and
when his wife died, worked very closely with the rest of the family to help him through.
The team at Warren Lodge are very caring, sensitive, communicative and following the lead of an inspiring manager ensured that residents are treated as if Warren Lodge is their own home.
Dad sadly passed away at Warren Lodge but the care he received, particularly in those last few days was second to none. As a family, we also felt cared for and supported and we will be forever grateful for that.

Warren Lodge is an attractive building setting with fine grounds in the countryside near Wokingham. The move here on account of our age is somewhat unsettling from our home of many years, not helped by Covid. However, the care and attention of all the staff have convinced us that this move is right
and we can live here happily for our remaining years.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.958)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.958) out of 10 for Warren Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 50 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 50 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.958 for Warren Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (566 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 591 Ratings = 4.958
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Warren Lodge is based on 50 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 50 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
