Overall Experience

I’d like to say how wonderful the two members of staff were at the door when we arrived at 1ish to set up for Nanas 100th! They were so welcoming, friendly and helped my father and me do our flow tests. Our party room was large & Homely. Our Pink theme was honoured, they provided a pink tablecloth, pretty crockery and napkins etc. The sandwiches were delicious, fresh and nicely presented. The manager exceeded all expectations by kindly going out of his way to assist us with connecting my presentation to the care homes system. We could never have done it without him, that kind act made my Nana’s birthday celebration all that more special and removed a week's worth of stress from my shoulders! I loved some of the special touches, the piano, drum kit, bongo drums. The chicken pen, the gardens, the projection of the moving butterfly’s in the hallway, football decorations in the lobby. Nana has warmed to the carer and others I’m yet to meet. Loved the physio lady, she was fab!

We had such a glorious afternoon with our relative, celebrating her 100th birthday! It's Covid, and we were all so nervous about what was/is doable - and yet, the entire team made us as comfortable and helped us most. A wonderful tea party. While I must add - still caring (lifting, moving, handling) for our relative - so grateful. It's such a beautiful place. Clean, beautifully kept - did not expect such kindness.

Mum was well looked after by the team who were really friendly and patient with her in these difficult times. If I lived nearer I would want to stay here but unfortunately, she now needs nursing care.

I’ve been in home for couple of weeks, having great food and drinks, going home to my home tomorrow, and have to do those things for myself, It’s a very nice place to live and nice carers too, I’ve had good accommodation, with all that I need. They also have things to do,that lots of people won’t normally have a chance to do, had my hair cut yesterday in the home, and the woman done a good job ,at good price. Thanks.

Review from D P (Father of Resident) published on 11 June 2021 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Only having been able under strict Covid regulations to travel from Scotland into England, my wife and I journeyed by car early in May to visit our daughter who is a youthful resident at Icknield Court. Following a very long trip, we were welcomed with much dignity and respect as aged senior citizens. It had been over one year since we had been able to see our beloved daughter in person, except for regular video calls and, of course, emotions were very evident. During the three days we were in the area we could not have been treated more respectfully by both management and staff, including being able to snack, lunch and breakfast with our daughter as well as being able to take her out for a run in the car. Only departure back home to Scotland, for now, was difficult for us both to cope with.

The staff at Icknield Court made a special effort to arrange and organise a 100th Birthday celebration for my mother. Even during the difficult periods of the pandemic they did an excellent job and made the day memorable for her, even though guest numbers were very limited.

Excellent!
The care staff and those on reception are friendly, knowledgeable, patient and good-humoured.
The catering is first class - particularly the birthday cake!
Dad is there during lockdown and so visiting is tricky..... no problem... video calls are arranged easily and efficiently.

Thank you! You are fantastic!!

I think the staff are doing an amazing job at a very difficult time. I'm not online but have been kept in touch with each development either by phone or letter. I have been able to speak to my sister in her room by a member of staff cheerfully handing out a mobile. Obviously, we haven't been able to visit so can't get an overall picture but at Christmas, the whole place was very festive and colourful with lots of activities taking place. I look forward to visiting again next week.

Afternoon tea could have been better. Sandwiches had too much filling and were white bread (my mother prefers brown). Small, dry fairy cake - did look a bit dull.
