Icknield Court is a vibrant and friendly care home located within the town of Princes Risborough. Providing residential and dementia care, the home offers a comfortable environment with a strong sense of community.

The kind and experienced care team take the time to build relationships with residents and get to know each individual’s preferences, so that high quality person centred care can be delivered to all.

The home is split across six ‘houses’, all with communal spaces which are ideal for meeting up with friends and family. There are two lovely enclosed courtyard gardens, both designed to be dementia friendly, interactive and stimulating that everyone can enjoy at their leisure.

Activities are arranged by the enthusiastic co-ordinator to ensure a range of hobbies and interests are catered for including painting and reminiscence activities.

The care home is very Covid aware. Numerous precautions in place including hand sanitiser, shoe spray, temperature check and tall perspex dividing screens in the visitor's room. The public area was very clean and tidy. Mum looked very well and is kept very occupied with a host of well-organised activities.
These ensure Mum is mentally stimulated, maintaining social interaction.

My husband has been a resident at Icknield Court for ten years. Throughout this time the standard of care has remained excellent. The staff understand his needs even though his mental capacity, speech and mobility are severely impaired following a brain haemorrhage. They are kind, patient and always
cheerful around him. Reassuringly they will also respond quickly to hie medical needs and emergencies. I am confident his needs and wellbeing are in safe hands.

I am extremely pleased with the way they keep control of the virus by using sprays to make sure that all visitors use the "sanitizer" before entering the building.

Was welcomed and felt extremely safe coming into Icknield Court. Temperature is taken, hands sprayed and a gentleman was very nice and helpful. Visitors room was very well presented and was very grateful at the effort put in to make everything as safe as can be. You are doing a fabulous job. Well done
to you all for keeping our Nan safe, keep up the good work. Nan is so happy here. Thank you all!

My mum has been in Icknield Court for 2 and 1/2 years now. In that time, her dementia has progressed. Slowly at first but with lockdown, has accelerated significantly, in addition to more problems with her mobility. During her time at the home, I have been so impressed with the staff and management.
They have been so caring and patient with Mum, even when she is being very difficult. They have gone out of their way to make Mum comfortable and as happy as she can be. Visits (both garden and now internally) have been managed excellently with great attention to safety and cleanliness. Their communication with me has been fantastic and they are always willing to discuss any concerns. It is clear that they care very much about the residents and I am so happy that my mum is in a home that, during this difficult time, is doing it's very best to keep its residents safe, well and happy.

On my recent visits to see y friend the staff have all seemed lovely and very upbeat and welcoming.
It also seems that my friend as a positive relationship with the care staff always giving a hello or thumbs-up sign. Feels very positive.

My mother was resident at Icknield Court from 2016 to 2020. During that time I can honestly say that her care and treatment was exemplary. I would turn up unannounced several times a week and, generally speaking, I always found my mother being cared for by the excellent staff in the best way possible.
Her room was always clean, as was her bathroom. When questioned about her health the carers were able to give me a clear picture and if anything of importance occurred I was informed by telephone.
All of this may sound like a sweeping statement but I'm an extremely fussy person so anything less than 100% would be noticed immediately. I cannot think of one occasion where I found anything other than quality carers doing a quality job.
Unfortunately, my mother has now moved on to a nursing home where she will receive the more intensive care she now needs, Personally, I would have preferred her to stay at Icknield Court but this just wasn't possible.

Icknield provides excellent care to my grandmother. They treat her with the utmost respect and kindness, and I couldn't be more confident in the care she receives, and the staff also form excellent relationships with the families of residents.

Our visit (my husband and I) was a garden visit for half an hour, which we had to book ahead. It was a cool day so our relative was brought from her room to meet us in the garden. She was comfortably ensconced in a wheelchair and wrapped up well with blankets. Her carer was very attentive and helped
her with her communication with us and sought to stir her interest in our visit. Because of dementia, this can be difficult. Lovely surroundings in the garden.

Our visit was a prearranged garden visit of 1/2 hour. My sister was a little reluctant to come out to the garden but the carer in her home encouraged her to come and see us. Although it was a little cold sitting outside, my sister was well covered with blankets. The carer who brought her out and stayed
with her was very helpful and attentive to her needs. She was very distant and we tried to stimulate her interest. The carer helped as well. We noticed how well she responded to the carer.

I cannot praise enough all the carers on House 1. They have been exemplary in their care of my husband and it hasn't always been an easy task! There are too many to name individually but we hope they know how appreciative we are of their compassion and care to our family and my husband. The staff outside
of House 1 have also been wonderful in supplying great food, keeping him clean/tidy and the admin staff has always been supportive. The recent addition of a bedside buddy doing video calls has also been a wonderful help during the pandemic.

I was really upset when we couldn't see Mum for 3 months because of Covid-19, it felt as though I was neglecting her! I am happy to be able to see her outdoors now and hope they will be able to arrange visits still in the colder weather.

During the lockdown, I have been kept informed and am now able to visit in person - not as often as I would like but know that all families have to be accommodated. My husband has dementia, so I am sure he is bewildered by face masks etc, but he has remained placid and settled during this difficult
time. Which I and my family are very grateful for, we feel he is in very safe hands.

My 98-year-old mum has been a resident at Icknield Court for ten months now and it is great to know that she is being well looked after. She is enjoying home-cooked food and has the company of her carers and other residents.
In May she tested positive for Covid-19 and was very unwell. All her carers
were amazing in looking after her at this time. In full PPE they were constantly attending to all her needs and providing the support she needed as we were not allowed to visit. I would like to say a special thank you to the assistant manager for overseeing all her social and medical needs at this time and her cheery demeanour when she updated us on a daily basis. Thankfully she has now recovered and is getting stronger every day.

Emma Fielder

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I began my career in Health and Social Care back in 2002 in my hometown of North Wales, working as a Care Assistant. It was there that I discovered my passion for supporting others. In 2007, I became a Registered Nurse, earning a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, and in 2015, I completed a master’s degree in management.


Over the years, I’ve worked in Nursing and Dementia care environments, and I genuinely love what I do. Caring for others is such a privilege—being a part of someone’s life is incredibly special and something I value deeply.


What inspired me to work in the care sector


For me, nursing wasn’t just a career choice; it felt like a calling. One morning, I woke up and said to myself, “I want to be a nurse!” My late grandmother, who was a retired Night Sister, inspired me to take that step. Her dedication and passion for overseeing high-quality care have always been a source of motivation for me.


My passions outside of work


When I’m not at work, I love spending time outdoors, especially on long walks in the countryside or visiting new places with my family. I also enjoy tending to my garden, which is filled with a variety of flowers and even includes a large grapevine—I take great pride in it!


What makes me proud of Icknield Court


I’m genuinely excited to be part of the Icknield Court team. We have a “home from home” approach to care, which creates such a warm and welcoming environment for residents.


Even though we’re a large team, we’ve managed to build a strong sense of family, and every day feels different and fulfilling. Our well-being programme is full and varied, involving our residents in meaningful activities and staying connected to the local community.
