Welcome to Belmont Lodge Care Centre in Chigwell, Essex. Situated at the heart of a thriving community, Belmont Lodge offers 24-hour care for those over the age of 65. The home's highly-trained carers and visiting therapies team provide high quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. While specialising in Dementia care, they offer long-term, respite and post-operative care.

The home comprises 40 light and airy bedrooms, most of which are en-suite, and 5 relaxing day rooms. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home. While the bedrooms provide a tranquil area to rest and relax, the bright and attractive communal day rooms offer residents the opportunity to catch up with friends over a pot of tea, enjoy one of the home's guest entertainers or simply recline in front of their favourite film.

At Belmont Lodge, they encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of the activities take place within the home environment and include art workshops, handicrafts, flower arranging and musical evenings. In the warmer weather, they make use of their therapeutic garden environment by enjoying garden parties and barbecues. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a salon blow-dry and manicure or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. My grandmother, who is 99 years old, has been a resident at Belmont Lodge for six years. Nan, in my opinion, has always been well looked after. Staff have been caring and professional. It is hard to write a review this year as I have not had proper contact or been in Belmont Lodge due to Covid. I will
judge on past experience of the years Nan has been a resident. Our family have been kept well informed and Belmont Lodge have been accommodating to my mum (Nan's only child) so she can have some form of contact with her.

Living overseas and having my dad in care adds a level of worry, but the attention that he receives at Belmont Lodge is exceptional. I know he is well looked after and that the team there go the extra mile to make his day brighter. He was very confused when he arrived there 18 months ago, often aggressive
and with his physical and mental health failing quite badly. With their team approach, Dad is now calm and safe. Thank you for looking after my dad so very well.

The home has always looked after my Mum's needs superbly. They are caring, attentive individuals who, after 5 years, know my Mum extremely well.
They keep me informed about any issues of concern and have always been very transparent with the information they provide.
Whilst the home is not the
most modern facility, it certainly ticked all the boxes for being personal, approachable and caring when I viewed it over 5 years ago and that opinion still holds even with the challenging circumstances of Covid-19.

My aunt has lived her for many years, and she continues to receive excellent care from compassionate staff. Her room is comfortable and well kept, and if she didn’t enjoy the food as an ex cook she would certainly let them know.

I speak for my 2 brothers regarding our mother's care. We are very pleased with the care she receives. I get regular phone calls updating any concerns that they might have. Any complaints that we have raised have been dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Dad has been a resident for several years now and I honestly say the care and compassion he has received in that time is of an excellent standard. Having dementia has its tricky moments but the staff are extremely well trained in this field. My dad is happy, well-fed and looked after exceptionally well.
All the staff do a brilliant job and they go out of their way to make the residents and relatives happy and at ease. I would highly recommend Belmont Lodge to anyone considering a care home for their relative, it has a friendly and caring environment. The staff are very professional and caring. My dad is so happy here and loves the activities they do on a regular basis, he also enjoys the facilities and being in the well-maintained garden. Thank you, Belmont Lodge, for looking after my dad, it’s such a huge relief to know he’s being cared for in a happy and safe environment.

At the time of writing, I am aware that an unhappy CQC report is prominently available below for all to see. Despite that, I am confident in echoing the words of praise and thanks to the staff at Belmont Lodge given by other relatives. My parents have been cared for with love over many years and seem
to thrive on it. The affection they receive is all the more remarkable to me since caring for people with dementia can be demanding. And during coronavirus restrictions, the staff have risen to the occasion with regular phone calls and updates. I have always been impressed by their excellent professional response to falls or ill health. An accompanying carer is always sent to the hospital.
So how does that square with the CQC report? I think as an adapted building it has more challenges, but the corridors are great for wandering, keeping my mother super fit! We have experienced some deficits in administrative and logistical aspects, but we recognise the hard work to improve in every area.

My father has been a resident of Belmont Lodge for 18 months now and has advanced Alzheimer’s. When he first arrived he was very confused, upset and angry, unable to recognise or make sense of most things. The staff have gone above and beyond their roles in making him part of the Belmont family, the
patience and love they have given to him is outstanding. The care they give offers our family great comfort and they are always commenting on how much respect and interest they have in Dad's history. The staff always remember that every resident has a past and a youth, children, grandchildren and stories of amazing achievements, they work patiently to try and unlock these memories and get a glimmer of the old person again. The communication has been faultless, especially as my brother does not live in this country. We are kept informed of weight, mood, eating progress and anything that they think we would like to hear. Belmont Lodge, on behalf of my brother and I, we thank you.

I have visited Belmont Lodge many times prior to March this year (closed for covid) unfortunately, with a mask etc, it was not easy for your residents to recognise me which I found difficult! He was well cared for and smiley for some of my visit but "distancing" was not easy but made bearable by the
carers and staff, who are excellent. He appears to be well and capable.

The team at Belmont Lodge have done a fantastic job in the most challenging environment possible. I’ve been really impressed at how they have looked after my uncle, the other residents and their staff. The atmosphere in the home is really positive, the big smiles on the faces of the staff is testament
to that. It’s also a result of the hard work and importance Forest Healthcare place on making people happy. They’ve created a very family orientated culture in the home.
