Mum received palliative care during her last 2 weeks and the staff during this particular time were outstanding! Nothing was too much trouble - they even found some games and toys for the children to do while we visited mum. Tea/coffee was always offered to us, and the staff popped in at regular times to see how we were and how mum was fairing. They were as upset as we were when mum passed away.
Mum was treated like a family member at Broomhills, the staff knew her so well and she loved them all. Thank you!

My name is Paul Jiggens, and I am the Home Manager at Broomhills. I started at Broomhills when I was just 16 years old as a domestic, and I quickly moved into care. The second I stepped through the doors, I knew this was where my career was going to grow.
I progressed to Care Team Leader and then went on to become Deputy Manager at Kathryn Court. Every step of my journey has helped shape me into the manager I am today, giving me the experience and understanding of what it truly takes to provide high-quality care.
I strongly believe in person-centred care. For me, that means really knowing each resident as an individual, their life story, their routines, their likes and dislikes, and what makes them feel comfortable and happy. No two people are the same, so their care should never be the same. It’s about making sure each person feels heard, valued, and involved in decisions about their own care.
Dignity and respect are at the heart of everything I do. I make sure our residents are always treated with kindness, patience, and compassion. Supporting someone in the later years of their life is a privilege, and I never lose sight of how important that responsibility is.
I love to have a laugh, and when my residents have the biggest smiles on their faces, it reminds me what this job is all about. My residents are my whole priority. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home during the later years of their lives.
