Lime Court is a 44-bed care home, including four double rooms, spread over two floors, with lift access and five separate themed lounges. The home specialises in dementia and care for elderly people, situated near the seafront and within easy reach of local shops and amenities of Dovercourt.

The home has a six bed private wing with en-suites which was opened in October 2012. The purpose-built care home offers a superb lifestyle for its residents with a reputation in the community for the warmth of the staff and the care provided.

Lime Court are very proud that it was the pilot for the Food First programme, which alleviates the need of medicated supplements. Residents enjoy their meals in a well-lit, spacious central dining room, and menus are tailored to residents requests. Feedback is sought from residents about any changes.

A central recreational courtyard area (accessible by wheelchair users), with raised beds, is enjoyed by residents and families, along with a side garden and large patio area. Together, staff, family and friends have created a reminiscence lounge with items from the early 1900's to present day.

The care home receives regular visits from hairdressers, opticians, chiropodists and a therapist who offers massages in a sensory room. A full time activity coordinator arranges activities which include regular outings to local attractions, live entertainment, knitting clubs, card clubs, bingo, pet therapy, plus many more. If there are specific requests for activities these are accommodated.

My mum has been in Lime Court care home for more than three years now. I visit weekly and every time I go up, there is a new activity going on - sometimes even a visit from Colchester Zoo, some meerkats came with their keepers! Mum always looks well, with a lovely manicure and a haircut. Sarah who runs
all the enrichment activities gives so much time and care to keeping everyone entertained, in ways that suit how they are experiencing the world. The staff are all so kind and we are confident Mum is cared for and happy.Mum has a beautiful room which she loves.

I regularly visit Limecourt to see David who has now been in the home for several years.
I always receive a warm and friendly response from the staff and the management are always available to discuss and respond to any matters relating to David's care.
David is extremely content with all the care
and attendance he receives and as his 'advocate' I am more than happy with the whole care package that he receives and am confident that this will continue.

My Mum had only been in the care home for a short while but I have nothing but praise for the kindness shown to her. The home and all the staff are helpful and welcoming and they all seem happy in their work. They talk and interact with all the residents so well and always respond kindly when things
get difficult. It is very well managed by the care home manager and she has earnt the respect of residents, staff and relatives. I have absolutely no complaints about the care and treatment my Mum has received. The home is always very clean and just what you want for your relative. My Mum was very happy and contented to stay there.

Mum is on a temporary placement currently, following a fall and shoulder break.
She was sad and withdrawn but is now happy and settled and regards Lime Court as home.
She is building good relationships with staff and other residents . We are very happy with care she is receiving and look forward
to our visits. We hope a permanent placement can be made.

My husband was sadly only in Lime Court for a short period of time, but was cared for well and his needs met. Most of the staff demonstrated a very good level of care and compassion, some were in my opinion outstanding in that respect. My husband was well presented, well dressed and clean. Staff ensured
that he ate regular meals as he was mostly confined to be din the later stages of his life. I only have one 'niggle' ad that concerns the senior member of staff on duty the night he passed away. I felt that some of her comments following my husbands death were not appropriate or helpful. I would however recommend Lime Court to others.

My husband had a stroke 2022 since he had trouble with speech and has had heart problems. Recently he had an accident and at 86 decided life was just too difficult. He came in for terminally care. The staff were all dedicated from nurses to laundry staff, all I had contact with were so helpful. The
day he died when I came in their were 3 staff settling him comfortably - all gently tucking him in with care and love. I would recommend anyone needing care to use Lime Court, it could not have given better care.

"The staff at this care home are absolutely wonderful. They always treat my nan with such kindness, patience, and respect, which gives us great peace of mind knowing she is so well looked after. The home has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and good home cooked food is served plentiful. One of the things
we love most are the daily events and activities they provide - from games and music to crafts and social gatherings - there's always something to keep her engaged and smiling. It's clear that the team go above and beyond to make the residents feel happy and cared for, and we are truly grateful for everything they do.

My brothers & I had our Stepmother, who had advanced dementia & was bedbound, moved to Lime Court Care Home near myself, in Dovercourt, almost 3 years ago, after being very concerned about her care in a previous home, local to where she had resided. It was the best decision we could have made. She
was so well looked after by the amazing, caring staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was always clean & we didn't have to make appointments to visit, just turned up, & with so many activities available for the residents.
A lot of the staff have been there for many years. A testament to the management & level of care.
I would highly recommend Lime Court to anyone who is trying to find the best place to have their loved ones in a comfortable, caring environment, and to be looked after so brilliantly. Thank you to you all Lime Court.

Lime Court is a wonderful care home. The staff are professional, kind, caring, friendly and always welcoming. Visiting is straightforward - flexible with dates, never a problem parking, and a staff member available to welcome us. Our dog was welcome, too! The entry and exit process demonstrated a
keen attention to security and safety. The rooms and common areas are spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The care they provided to my step-mother in her final years was simply outstanding. Thank you Lime Court.

As a retired carer having worked in two care homes and private, also, having visited several different care homes I can honestly say Lime Court is one of the best.
It's a home-from-home, with staff doing their very best to care and entertain the residents. As a volunteer, I'm very happy to be a small
part of this lovely place.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.849)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.849) out of 10 for Lime Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.849 for Lime Court is calculated as follows: ( (223 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 259 Ratings = 4.849
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lime Court is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
