Lime Court

Lime Avenue, Dovercourt, Harwich CO12 4DE

Lime Court is a 44-bed care home, including four double rooms, spread over two floors, with lift access and five separate themed lounges. The home specialises in dementia and care for elderly people, situated near the seafront and within easy reach of local shops and amenities of Dovercourt.

The home has a six bed private wing with en-suites which was opened in October 2012. The purpose-built care home offers a superb lifestyle for its residents with a reputation in the community for the warmth of the staff and the care provided.

Lime Court are very proud that it was the pilot for the Food First programme, which alleviates the need of medicated supplements. Residents enjoy their meals in a well-lit, spacious central dining room, and menus are tailored to residents requests. Feedback is sought from residents about any changes.

A central recreational courtyard area (accessible by wheelchair users), with raised beds, is enjoyed by residents and families, along with a side garden and large patio area. Together, staff, family and friends have created a reminiscence lounge with items from the early 1900's to present day.

The care home receives regular visits from hairdressers, opticians, chiropodists and a therapist who offers massages in a sensory room. A full time activity coordinator arranges activities which include regular outings to local attractions, live entertainment, knitting clubs, card clubs, bingo, pet therapy, plus many more. If there are specific requests for activities these are accommodated.

Overview

The Review Score of 9.7 (maximum of 10) for Lime Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 18 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Lime Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.711 for Lime Court is calculated as follows: ( (152 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.711

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lime Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8.8 positive Reviews (44 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 18 Reviews ÷ 8.8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.7 Lime Court has a Review Score of 9.7 (9.711) from 18 Reviews

My mum was a resident at Lime Court Feb 2017 to May 2017. She was well cared for by all the staff from the managers to carers. All staff worked to settle mum in and she was made to feel welcome, Lime Court was an excellent care home with a very caring workforce.

Following a fall at home, the individual I provide support to was placed in Lime Court for respite on release from hospital.
The management and staff have made him very welcome and over the last few weeks his confidence has returned and he has joined fully in the home's activities. As his home is unsuitable for habitation, we explained his options for the future and he has decided to stay on as a private resident at Lime Court because he feels comfortable and content.
From my point of view, all the staff and management have been both helpful and supportive.

It is a very lovely and caring environment. Always looks great and smells great and is very clean. They give really great care to the residents. The residents want for nothing and there is always someone there to help.

My mother went from "independent living" on her own, had an unexplained collapse and after a hospital stay lost all her independence and required 24/7 care. From the initial hospital visit to assess suitability to the present time, Aug 17 - Jan 18, the management team and support workers have been brilliant with all of us and mum is well cared for and needs met. This has been a shocking time for mum and all of us and team at Lime Court have made things better.

My husband has been a resident since October 2017. I am made very welcome and go to see him everyday and have lunch with him and his friend. They have lots of entertainment but if they don't want to that's alright. The lunch is home cooked and they have a choice. It's run like a family. One day I didn't answer the phone and I live 10 houses away they came to see if I was alright, that's caring.

After a fall in her warden controlled 24-hour careline council run home and left for 3 days on the floor, my mother in law spent 4 weeks in hospital. I then got her into Lime Court where she has been exceptionally well looked after and loved by all the staff. She could not be in a better place, thank you all very much.

Mum was made welcome from the second she arrived.
Despite being a terminal lung cancer patient, she really picked up during her time at Lime Court.
This was down to the staff, no doubt. Their attentiveness and professionalism - but warmth as well - was very evident.
I felt absolutely confident that Mum was being looked after very well at Lime Court.
Thank you.

From day one we have been made very welcome with a warm reception.
There is a very good atmosphere. Management ensure that all new staff treat all residents with love and respect. Activities are very well led by the organiser, who has a lovely manner.

Lesley Pitt, RC at Lime Court responded to this review on 30 Oct 2017:

We always meet our staffing level requirements, staff are allocated to areas of the home. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to see one of the seniors on duty or we have an open door policy in the home so please feel free to speak to the manager.

Absolutely love this place. My mother has been cared for since May 2015 and my father is there for 3 weeks respite care.

The staff are fantastic, so kind, sympathetic and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them even dealing with difficult situations.

I spend a lot of time there visiting my parents and the staff are wonderful.

I couldn't ask for a better care home. The care the staff provide is outstanding. Everyone is so caring and kind, even at the toughest times. My grandparents are happier than they have ever been and healthier.
I take my children in a few times a week and we are always welcomed in and looked after.

My Mum was a resident at Lime Court for almost 4 years but recently passed away 2nd July 2017. I cannot praise, every single one of the staff, enough for the excellent care she received. On-going training of the staff is of such a high standard. Every person is so dedicated to their work and to the care of the residents - in every possible section. The warmth that "oozes" from the management is second-to-none and that radiates throughout the staff. Such excellent teamwork.

We want to express our gratitude for the loving care mum received throughout her stay to the management team, office staff, all senior staff, all the carers, the laundry, the housekeeping, the cooks and kitchen staff, entertainment staff and maintenance.

During her palliative care, it could have been 'private'... it was outstanding and beyond belief which made mum's passing very comfortable and peaceful and helped us get through an awful time. They are all 'Angels' and deserve huge recognition. Thank you.
