Our mum lived in Redbond Lodge Care Home for just over four years, until her death from Alzheimer's disease in October 2023. We can't thank the manager and whole staff team enough for the care, kindness and respect that they gave her over this time. It was her home in all senses of the word and they
became her extended family. They supported her on her dementia journey, enabling her to participate as much as possible. She was so happy. We visited regularly and never saw her suffer anxiety or stress during her time there. We couldn't have wished for more.
The team also supported us, as her family. We can't thank the manager enough for her communication with us and for her gently guiding us through Mum's final months, helping us to access services to ensure Mum's final care plan was in place for when she needed it. They were with us, together with her, on her final day. We will be forever grateful to them. Truly amazing people doing a phenomenal job.

When we brought our mum in for the first time at Redbond Lodge in December 2022, the staff were very friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble, which has continued. Mum has settled in well. The family are all happy with Redbond Lodge, knowing she is cared for in the best possible way.

All staff members have been amazing and have gone above and beyond to meet my grandad's needs and also supported us, as a family, in the adjustment, which can be challenging emotionally.

As a family, we are extremely pleased with the care my dad is receiving - everyone is interacting with him and going out of their way to get to know him as a person and what he likes doing. We, as a family, have been made to feel at home and can come and go as we please.
He loves walking and being
outside which the staff are accommodating when possible. We feel good in the knowledge that Dad is safe and well cared for.

My mum has been here since August after a fall. She has settled in so well and joins in the activities and has been on a couple of day trips, which is wonderful and also to see on social media.
Everyone I have spoken to or had dealings with has been amazing and so helpful.

My aunt was sent to Redbond Lodge for intermediate care after numerous falls leading to a hospital visit. We have found the staff throughout the home, from the manager to the office staff to the carers and cleaners to be friendly, kind and very helpful. Everyone, without exception, has made us and our
aunt feel welcome. The home is kept very clean in both communal and residents' own rooms, and the gardens are well looked after and have been enjoyed over the summer. We've also been given guidance and support when dealing with social services, which has been a massive help. Thank you all.

My cousin was admitted to Redbond Lodge Care Home seven years ago. My cousin was well cared for, always clean and seen to be taking part in activities. The staff always kept me well informed of any changes.
During my cousin's last days, staff were amazing with letting me know every change and have
asserted that my cousin had a peaceful end.
A delight to walk into a care home that doesn't smell of bodily fluids.

In general, the care and services are very satisfactory. Some of the junior care workers need more training but the senior staff can't be faulted for the attention given to the residents. They are extremely informative, both by phone and in person.
One factor I do think could be improved is the personal
hygiene of the residents. I have had to raise, on occasion, teeth cleaning, nail care hygiene and hair brushing. They should be done daily.

My wife is seventy-six years old with multiple sclerosis (diagnosed with relapsing/remitting multiple sclerosis in 1980 after a few weeks as an inpatient at a hospital for neurological diseases). She underwent numerous tests under a prestigious doctor, later dubbed a sir (who died three years back and
has a plaque in Westminster Abbey for his work on neurological diseases). Relapses occur irregularly and afterwards my wife was in remission, but had minus 2% of the bodily function she had prior to the attack. My wife has steadily deteriorated. She was/is not an easy patient, but she is fully sentient and rather euphoric. This is good, but leads her to believe she can do things that she can't, like stand up safely or transfer to the toilet herself safely. She has fallen on a number of occasions and has metal plate in her arm, leg and hip. She has a permanent indwelling catheter, caused by her inability to control her urinating due to multiple sclerosis. She is deaf and has hearing aids in each ear. There are clear signs that she is having problems controlling defecating and is irregular and unpredictable. That is my attempt to explain how difficult it is to look after her properly. My wife went in to Redbond Lodge on Saturday 20th May 2023 and stayed ten nights. I picked her up on Tuesday 30th May 2023 at 3pm. She was well looked after in Redbond Lodge. It is quite difficult to elicit proper information from her, as she is forgetful, but she recalled going to bingo. The home is a good place with good, helpful and friendly staff, though my wife is rather a 'loner' and does not always engage in conversation easily. One feature which we regard as a very positive thing, is that meals are served more in keeping with our normal life and living structure. Most care homes or hospitals give a full main meal at around just after midday, followed by a snack or sandwich at around 5pm. Redbond Lodge serves main meals in the early evening, which in our book is good. Flexibility is also given to times of retirement, which we were asked about when my wife went into the home. Overall, we were pleased with Redbond and will come back again for a respite break. Thanks again to all the staff and management for doing a very challenging and difficult task very well. Well done. Not an easy job, as I know being my wife's sole carer, with help from the local city council. Good luck and best wishes.

I joined Runwood Homes in November 2008 in different roles from Healthcare Assistant, Care Team Leader, and Deputy Manager from 2012 until I decided to take a big responsibility as a Home Manager at Redbond Lodge. I’m Patricia, and I’ve been a Care Team Leader for nearly 10 years. I am also now currently Acting Deputy Manager. I love seeing the positive impact our home has on someone’s life. The efforts made by all staff members—from the care team to the domestics—are truly rewarding, and seeing the outcome of everyone’s hard work in our residents’ smiles makes it all worthwhile.


I hold an NVQ Level 3 and take great pride in my role. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, and, of course, irritating my husband—something I’m quite excellent at!

I am a certified Dementia Champion, and completing the course was both enlightening and rewarding. I especially enjoy participating in musical activities at the Redbond Lodge, where I love getting everyone up and dancing, creating moments of joy and connection.

My journey in care began over 30 years ago as a healthcare assistant. Over the years, I progressed to a team leader role, always feeling a strong pullback to the care sector. Supporting residents, relatives, and staff brings immense fulfilment, and I am passionate about creating a nurturing and supportive environment.


Redbond Lodge is often complimented on its warm and friendly atmosphere, a quality I deeply value and take pride in contributing to every day.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors walking our dog, travelling to new places, getting lost in a good book, and immersing myself in music.

I’m fortunate to work with amazing colleagues who make every day rewarding. While Christmas isn’t my favourite time of year, I do bring my own fun and quirky energy to the job—some might say I’m as mad as a hatter!


In my spare time, I love indulging in DIY projects and crafts, letting my creativity shine outside of work.
