Mum is 94 and has been at Squeaks for two years. The fabric of the building is old, but it is well maintained. I visit three or four times a week and it is always clean. Security is good but there are no restrictions on visiting.

The best thing about Squeaks is the staff. Early on in her stay, the staff's vigilance and swift action saved mum's life. I know mum's very personable carers by name. When mum has been out, they always ask her how her day has been. One former carer even comes back to see her for a chat. Things cannot be perfect all of the time but when you need to raise an issue, the manager and her staff listen, take your concerns seriously and make changes. The food offer has improved to better reflect mum's more traditional tastes. There have been some great activities and relatives can participate in visits to cafés, a Christmas market, a local zoo etc. There are activities in the home to support physical movement and to entertain. I am happy to recommend Squeaks.

Where to start?
As I'm sitting here with my Mum on End of Life, my Mum peaceful and asleep, I really felt the need to share my view of this place. I don't know why, as I'm not a review giver normally, but I just have this impulse to let everyone know how really special this place is.
From day one when my Mum came in she didn't want to be here obviously as she's a strong independent woman, but sadly her dementia was reaching the very advanced stages. Fast forward just a week, and it felt like my Mum was surrounded by family (and I'm referring to the staff), roll on a year and I swear to god I see and I feel like every single member of staff here care for my Mum as if she was their own grandmother. That feeling it gave us her family and my Mum herself has been a privelidge and a level of love & care that is so beyond what we could ever imagine, and for that alone - from the very bottom of my and my families hearts, we thank you for every second you have given my Mum.

With thanks always.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. To us, as you have observed, all the residents are like our own mums, dads and grandparent. Also, let me take this opportunity to extend my prayer and condolences to you and your families.

Lots and love

Proprietor rude and unprofessional, manager not so rude, some of the older staff exceptional in their care. Removed my relative because of the attitude of owner so glad I did! They are now happy, clean and well cared for

Thank you for your feedback.
I was very surprised to read our ratings as this has never been mentioned on your satisfaction surveys.

I do understand their was a difference of opinion but we cannot allow external carers to come in and provide care on our premises as you requested, this is against...

I find Squeaks to be very friendly, extremely helpful and good at keeping us updated on all aspects of Mum's care. Very clean. I find it very hard to find fault with Squeaks, and the carers. The staff are very caring, and nothing is too much bother.

Thanks for your kind words. It was nice to meet you in person the other day. As a provider, I do not generally get involved with physical care, but I know the staff and the managers are absolutely amazing. I am really proud of them.

If my dad had been able to choose where he lived he would have picked his own home. Sadly, his care needs now mean that isn't an option anymore, and so he is now a resident of Squeaks House. Outwardly some of the decor is tired and the layout of the building less than ideal, but these criticisms are hugely outweighed by the environment created by the dedicated and genuinely caring staff. He is always treated with kindness and respect, and I know that, whenever possible, his needs/requests are listened to and acted upon. For example, dad insisted on trying to climb over the side of his bed in spite of the obvious risk. Instead of being more forceful in preventing this (for his own safety) the manager organised for the bed to be lowered to a safe height, the side removed and a mat being placed on the floor. Now dad regularly rolls out of bed at night and sleeps on the mat, which gives him a crucial sense of control. Just one small example of a very positive ethos.

Very friendly and caring home. Was apprehensive re putting my aunt into care but my concerns are no more. She has been made welcome and made part of a huge loving family. I'm happy that she is so settled. A great weight off my mind.

Dad became increasingly frail and following a bad fall and several weeks in hospital, could no longer live alone. Squeaks was the seventh facility we viewed and the only one we felt could meet his needs. He has settled in quickly and is very content in this small independent establishment. The staff are caring and responsive to needs. The food is good, the rooms are clean. Residents are clean and tidy and there are regular activities. Dad is happy and well cared for.

Best home we could have made for mum. It's never easy putting a loved one into care but Squeaks House is like being at home. All the staff are very caring and obviously love their jobs and the residents.

Mum seems very settled and happy in her new home.

Initially I was very worried to put my mother in a care home. I looked at some of the other homes in the area and decided on Squeaks House. It was the best decision I have made.

The staff are very polite, helpful and caring. They are really well trained. There were lots of activities. My mother loved going out and the singer who visited the home. I can go at any time and as many times as I like. I would recommend the place to anyone looking to find a place for their family member.
