As you enter into Woodbury Court it seems very quiet and peaceful but as you move along the corridors and meet the residents and staff the home comes alive. Staff pride themselves on activity-based care and involve residents in all that they do. Promoting independence and choice is paramount.

The home has warm, welcoming and cosy dining rooms and lounges. But if a quiet place is needed that can also be found, choice is so important.

Woodbury Court is a wonderful care home. My dad has been there for 18 months now. He is extremely happy and so well cared for. My mum could no longer care for him at home due to having had a stroke herself. We are so relieved that the amazingly dedicated team at Woodbury Court was there to help us
in our hour of need and continue to care for dad better than we ever could ourselves. He has complex needs, and they manage his day-to-day care, medication all hospital visits, just everything! We are blessed! Thank you to all at Woodbury Court from the bottom of our hearts.

My mum has been a resident at Woodbury Court since September 2023. I have previously submitted a review, but thought it's time again to sing their praises. I thank every member of the amazing, caring staff that work at the home. As time has gone on my mum's dementia has unfortunately got quite advanced.
They
really know how to help her and keep her her happy. There is always someone to discuss any situations with.
Great genuine compassion is given by everyone. Thank you so much for caring for my dear mum.

Mum was admitted to Woodbury Court following a hospital stay in 2020 already experiencing vascular dementia. Initially it was difficult but due to the kindness of management and staff she eventually settled down. At this time mum was able to take part in activities and outings and was quite content.
No-one would wish to spend their final years in this situation, but my experience of the home is positive. I have always found the staff to be caring, kind and extremely helpful to me whenever I visit and mum's condition can be challenging now. The management team are always available and ready and willing to help if you have any issues.

Quick update on my previous review. My mother has several health concerns, not least a lack of mobility and severe arthritis, which were compounded by a fall at home prior to full time care. The staff at the Home have done so much to help my mother come to terms to some extent with her change in circumstances.
From a determined, independent woman, my mother has had to accept limitations in her life which none of us could ever have imagined.

I am delighted to say that a new doctor was arranged for mum, all tests have either been competed or are now under way. A hearing test can now be arranged and the home have assured me that they can help with hearing aids if necessary. Knowing from other family members how difficult hearing aids can be to handle I was so reassured by the professionalism of the staff that I look forward to mum enjoying easier listening to her TV, music and audible books! So grateful to the caring staff of the Home. Thank you!

My dad was admitted to Woodbury Court as a resident from hospital. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful at an upsetting time. The door to the office is always open and feel you can always speak to someone. There are lots of activities going on and staff try to get everyone involved. All areas
are kept very clean and food is varied. I feel very reassured that my dad is being well cared for.

My mother has been here since February and she never wanted to go into a care home. Since being at Woodbury Court she has come alive, she is the happiest I have seen her in along time. The care and attention she has received from the staff is excellent, the daily activity and the trips she can go on
is amazing. My mother has gone from refusing to get out of bed when she first arrived to getting up and joining in almost every day.

Mum has been at Woodbury Court since Feb of this year having transferred from Eve Belle. The staff are friendly and welcoming, her room is always clean and tidy and she always seems happy when we (various members of the family) drop in on a regular basis. As mum is now at the advanced stages of dementia
I'm unable to establish what she thinks of the home but from her demeanour when we visit we can only assume she is comfortable and well cared for.

My husband has been living at Woodbury Court for the last 4 years, and I've never known a well-loved community team like they have there. The open door policy (managers) is fantastic if you have to raise any concerns. I still haven't had to use this. The activities are fantastic, from the staff doing
them daily, Professional singers, to the wonderful bus trips.. Nothing is ever to much trouble, no matter what member of staff you need, Domestic, Carer's, leaders, Management, Kitchen and reception.. I would always recommend Woodbury Court. It is definitely the best I've seen (and I've been in a few). My husband is well-loved and looked after. His care needs are met. I'm glad he is where he is, It is truly the closest thing to home. Thank you to Every Single Member of the Woodbury Team

In my personal experience of caring for my mother for the past twelve years... Woodbury Court is way out in front when it comes to elder care. From the moment mum came in as part of her IMC care route last time, the staff throughout the entire team have been friendly, kind and attentive. Then since
we've been in as a respite user many times over the past two years. I've never ever had any cause for concern. At all. Mum is always treated like she's their mum, staff wise. It's like dropping her off at a family members. When they can't provide a thing they are always clear and helpful as to what they can do. Which is a Godsend compared to other places mums been to in which they've lied to me and then dumped her in a room for hours on end and not changed her etc. Woodbury has a full package of activities and staff are known to frequently give up their spare time and family time to come in and give extra support.

My mother has been at Woodbury Court for 6 months I cannot fault the care she has received during that time. The Manager, Deputy & all the staff are very professional, thoughtful, caring and kind. I've found communication very good, have been kept fully informed about trips out, health concerns and
hospital appointments. It's a relief to know mum is being well looked after.

Probably the worst care home for someone with dementia, food is terrible, the staff just want to put patients in a room ! Stay well away ! Looks good but it's not ! Food is rubbish , staff don't really want to be there , where sue is now staff are excellent and treat her with respect ! Unlike Woodbury
court !

I don't no where to start, other than brilliant. The staff the managers are all excellent and go above and beyond can't speak highly enough of them all feel like we have struck up a good friendship with them all. Mum had to move care homes along with her husband who has sadly passed away quite recently
but not just because he passed the staff have beenabsolutely brilliant with mum and of our dad.it has been a brilliant move for them. There's more going on for them than they ever had ( think I might move in myself ) . Nothing is never to much trouble for any of them. Mum is happy here and that makes us happy. Keep up the excellent work you all do. Xx

My parents have been with Woodbury Court since January 2025 , the care they have both received is excellent in every way .
Unfortunately we lost our Step Dad last month , the staff went an extra mile in caring not only for our dad but making sure mum had all the support she needed at this sad time
. All the staff were on hand night and day, we can't thank them enough for all they have done .
They have many activities and day trips for the residents much more than other homes which is an extra bonus . Any problems or concerns are dealt with by management or staff in a timely manner .
Thank you to all the staff and management it was the best move we could have wished for .

My sister has been a resident for over 2 years and we can't fault the care and service provided. She has Downs syndrome plus dementia and all of the carers and staff have been fantastic. It is real peace of mind to know your nearest and dearest are being well looked after and we have reached the point
now where she is so engaged with the activities that we sometimes need to cut our visits short which is testament to how happy she is.
In short it is a fabulous place run and staffed by fantastic people and we feel grateful we found it.

Mum has resided at Woodbury Court since January 2024 and it's a big relief to know that she's in a safe environment with such caring, compassionate staff around her. There's so much that residents can get involved with if they wish. I can't speak highly enough of the staff, from the laundry ladies
up to management. They've all got time for you if you need to speak to them about anything. The home is kept spotlessly clean every day too! Since living at Woodbury, Mum has had her life so much more enriched by all the activities that are on offer to residents. The relief when Mum moved into Woodbury Court was massive, as it removed the stress and worrying about her living alone, when it was clear she was struggling on her own. Thank you Woodbury team for everything you do.

Mum transferred to Woodbury after a hospital stay highlighted that she could no longer live safely independently. Despite our concerns, Mum has settled in really well and loves her room which is so important to her as she enjoys spending time in her own company.
There's always an abundance of staff
around whenever we visit, and everyone is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in the home feels very positive and staff are genuinely invested in the care of residents. The management team are also excellent: visible, approachable, and responsive. There is a genuine enthusiasm about finding ways to ensure residents feel at home from home, and a willingness to resolve any issue no matter how trivial or important. At what has been a challenging and concerning time for us as a family, Woodbury Court staff have been consistent, dependable and supportive. It has made all the difference.

My dad was so happy at the care home. All staff looked after him very well, from chatting to him, showering him too, helping him with his food. Now dad goes every Friday and loves it... as again all staff chat to him, and he has a shower. He eats very well and the entertainment again is brilliant...
one carer in particular really makes effort with entertainment when he's on...but I can't say enough about all staff, so friendly and helpful. Thanks again.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.853)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.853) out of 10 for Woodbury Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 51 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 50 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.853 for Woodbury Court is calculated as follows: ( (544 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 604 Ratings = 4.853
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodbury Court is based on 50 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 94 registered maximum number of service users is 18.8, which has been reached with 50 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Neil Potkin. I am a Care Team Leader at Woodbury Court Care Home. I don't have a profile picture as I don't like my photo taken. But I wanted you to know a little about me.

I have been with Runwood Homes for over 14 years, working in various capacities to support the care team and residents. Currently, I hold the role of Care Team Leader at Woodbury Court Care Home.

I have an NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Food Preparation and Hospitality, as well as an NVQ Level 2 in Web Design and Development. My experience spans both the care and hospitality industries, allowing me to bring a diverse set of skills to my role.

A fun fact about me is that I once jumped into a river in Ireland to save a dog that had fallen in and got its paw caught between two rocks. Over the years, the river has grown deeper and more treacherous—depending on who I'm telling the story to!

In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and baking. I also love reading and spending time with my dogs.
