Since moving my mum from her previous care home to Leatherland Lodge due to unacceptable falls and malnutrition sores, Mum has made such good progress and I noticed a big change in her mood and appearance within a week of her settling in to Leatherland Lodge. The manager and staff were very helpful and I can't fault them. The manager was very caring to Mum's sores and she was very approachable after our initial meeting all of my family left knowing Mum would be cared for how she should be. Thank you to all of you for showing compassion.

Leatherland Lodge is a lovely home and have been looking after my grandad for a year, and he is very happy being there. My granddad has made so many improvements since being at Leather Land Lodge. The team are amazing and very caring and do whatever they can to meet my granddad's needs. I don't know what I would have done without them.

Leatherland Lodge has brought life back to my nan. My nan has Alzheimer's so it can be difficult for her to remember what she does but the care home take regular pictures of her enjoying herself with a genuine look of joy which is very reassuring as a family. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the head of medication.

Sadly my nan passed away today in loving care at Leatherland Lodge. She had 2 very happy years here with absolutely amazing staff and management. Nothing was ever too much trouble and my Nan was treated as family to them. We as a family could not have hoped for anything better for my Nan. The staff and management go above and beyond to make sure that residents are happy and healthy (my nan always looked amazing). We cannot thank them enough and would recommend this home to anyone.

In the ten weeks, my father was a resident in Leatherland Lodge, he was cared for in an extremely caring and compassionate manner, and the staff always made sure he was kept clean, tidy and comfortable, which was very important to him. He was always dealt with in a dignified manner. The staff were always kind and cheerful. During the final weeks of my father's life, the staff looked after the family as well as they looked after him. I am so glad we chose Leatherland Lodge for my father.

My father was in Leatherland Lodge for about ten weeks and, during this time, was looked after in an extremely caring, compassionate and dignified manner. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff, and they were always prompt in reacting to any request. During the last week of my father's life, they not only looked after him but all of the family too. I am so glad that we chose Leatherland Lodge as the care home for my father. I don't honestly feel he would have gotten better care anywhere.

I’d just like to say a big thank you to the Manager and all the staff at Leatherland. Mum was only there for a few weeks and the standard of care was so good. Her room was bright and spacious and kept immaculately clean. Mum went down for all her meals so she could mingle with residents and staff which was so positive as she’d not wanted to do that at her previous care home. Responses to her calls were swift and courteous which can’t be said of everywhere. Any issues were quickly sorted by the manager, who has a passionate approach to making sure her residents and relatives are totally cared for and supported.
Sadly, mum’s health declined quickly and she passed away in hospital. I’m so glad that she spent her last few weeks at Leatherland. I wish I had moved her there earlier.

Thank you all again.

Lovely staff, my best friend is always telling me how scrumptious the food is and also how much they love the activities! I have personally visited my friend in this care home and I can say I’m impressed with how clean the home is and how fresh it smells, the staff who work there are great with the residents from what I see when I go to visit my friend. I would definitely recommend this care home if you're looking for a warm welcome and loving hand to take care of your loved ones.

I must say I am so pleased with their care and service.

Words seem too light to express the gratitude my family have for the staff of this place. The sheer compassion and care that my nan has received in the past and present is outstanding. Especially highlighted in recent months during the loss of my grandad, I found small comfort in knowing my nan was surrounded such caring individuals. From phone calls and FaceTimes (grateful arranged by staff) allowed to see the sheer improvement in my nan's physical and mental health. A true testimonial to the management who run this to such good standards followed by such helpful and capable staff!

When my nan first went into Leatherland Lodge I was wracked with guilt and worry that she wouldn't get the care we wanted for her. I didn't need to worry at all, the care, love and support my nan gets from this home is absolutely outstanding! My nan is so happy, there she loves the food and daily activities, and the interaction with the staff and other residents. The manager and her amazing team are all brilliant in their roles looking after my nan and all the other residents there. The home is spotless and clean and the manager is making the changes to modernise it. I would totally recommend this home 100%.

The level of care that my nan has received since entering the home as a resident of Leatherland lodge is second to none. Since losing my grandad in November 2020 and through this current pandemic she has been supported by the extremely strong willed and caring staff who go above and beyond to make her feel safe and welcome at a time when we were unable to see her everyday and support her, along with making social circles within the home that she would not of been able to do otherwise. The home goes as the unrecognised heroes through this pandemic for me. Being a key worker myself the level of ease it has placed on the family knowing she is being so well looked after just makes it all a little easier and we are looking forward to the day of being able to see nan again and hear all the stories she has to tell. I would like to give special thanks to the manager who is a name constantly popping up from nan for her countless empathy and kindness towards my nan through what has been the most difficult time.

My mother-in-law is a resident. As an only child, my wife battled with the decision of residential care. Leatherland Lodge has been a well-known part of our community in South Ockendon for so long that it seemed the obvious choice. The peace of mind my wife now has has allowed her to know that, although it’s been the toughest, it’s been the best decision. My mother-in-law is being looked after better than we could have ever hoped or wished for. Being the 2nd named person to be able to come in and see her since the restrictions have been lifted has been a joy. The manager and her staff look after and care for the residents as if they are their own family. There are too many to name to acknowledge them individually but I hope they all know just how grateful I am that their care to my mother-in-law has given me my wife back. The home is modern clean and serviceable, but more importantly, it is just that a ‘home’ from ‘home’ a place to feel comfortable and safe. Thank you!

We held off putting Mum into a home as we were very apprehensive as to how she would settle in. We should not have worried as she seems very content and is looked after very well. Sure, she has had issues, but the staff are proactive with sorting out medication etc. We video chat on a regular basis and I feel that I can rely on the staff to keep me abreast of the situation.

Overall we are very pleased with Leatherland Lodge.

Staff at Leatherland Lodge are extremely friendly and helpful, it’s been a pleasure to see my sister via video call on a regular basis on the homes tablet/phones.
She always looks well presented and is always happy when I talk to her. The activities in the home are well led by the staff.
The decoration throughout the home from what I have seen from the video call is always pleasant, bright and extremely clean. She tells me there’s always music playing from the radios through the home and the staff are always available to help 24 hours a day 7 days a week, my sister, staff and the residents always have a good old dance too!.

Although I haven’t seen her physically a lot due to the current pandemic, I can tell just by the video that she is well looked after, clean, tidy and always well presented.

I have the upmost respect for each and every member of staff at Leatherland Lodge.
Care for Mum during lockdown 2020 has been excellent. Although difficult for myself and my family not to be able to just pop in and see Mum, I fully understand that this was to keep all residents and staff safe.
On my allocated visits I can see that Mum is being well cared for.

Thank you all at Leatherland Lodge.
