My husband was happy in Bethel. He hated the previous care home despite that being only 2 weeks respite while I was in hospital. Bethel is very homely. It is warm and all the staff, without exception, are kind, patient and caring with even the most difficult resident. He loved the activities particularly anyone who was singing and would join in with gusto. The chefs provided lovely food everyday and on birthdays they made a cake with candles and everyone would sing to them. The staff also made visitors feel very welcome and there was always a cup of tea. I would be more than pleased to recommend Bethel and its very caring staff to anyone looking at care homes for a relative. Thank you

My Mum lived at Bethel House for almost 3 years. It became her home. She was lovingly cared for by the team at Bethel House. Her food was always wonderful and, even though she was confined to her room by illness, the entertainment team regularly visited her. You can tell when you walk into Bethel that the team are friends with each other which gives a warm ambiance and this naturally passes on to the residents, giving a feeling of comfort and a happy atmosphere. During Mum's final days, the team also cared for me and my husband. I can wholeheartedly recommend this team at Bethel House.

Reply from Abbey Doyle, Manager at Bethel House

Thank you for your lovely review and kind words about the team. It was a pleasure caring for your mum and supporting you and your husband during this time. Having to place a loved one into care is an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking decision that no family makes lightly. I had been dreading moving my uncle into a care home, but choosing Bethel House has been one of the best things to happen to him in years.
The level of care is outstanding, and the home is always clean, welcoming, and full of warmth. Staff treat residents with genuine kindness, dignity, and respect. There is a real sense of community, with a wide range of activities tailored to individual tastes and abilities.

Communication with families is excellent, and there is a true family feel throughout. It is clear that every effort is made to ensure residents feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home. We are incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown every day.

Mum and dad came to live at Bethel House in 2021, when they could no longer cope at home due to ill health, dad in heart failure with severe hearing loss and mum with advanced Alzheimers.
By the time we lost dad in Feb 2024 and mum in June 2025 the care home had become a second home and the staff like friends. Both my parents' needs were so different, but the care home did everything it could to help them spend their final years together as a couple, for which I am grateful.

The meals are good and the activities plentiful and whilst residents do have many complex needs, they are treated with dignity and care.

Dad was diagnosed with dementia in 2015 and has been looked after at Bethel House for the past 6 years. The staff are professional, kind and compassionate,:nothing is too much trouble. There are excellent activities daily, the rooms and overall environment is cheerful and the food is excellent. I have often been asked to recommend a care home over the past few years and never had any hesitation in recommending Bethel House. Dementia is a horrible disease and to know that your loved ones are being looked after with care and compassion at least gives comfort that you are doing all that you can.

My mother had been a resident for 10 months prior to her passing. She had advanced dementia at admission and was very frightened about needing care but all the staff made her transition from her own home to Bethel House a positive and enriching experience. She settled very quickly and enjoyed all the activities, food and making new friends
All the staff are so friendly and professional, recognising her individual needs. Her end-of-life care was kind and thoughtful and made a difficult time much more bearable.

Highly recommend both the environment and especially the team.

All the staff at Bethel House, without exception, go above and beyond what is expected. My husband is happy here and well looked after, if I did have any questions they would be answered, truthfully and with understanding. Everywhere is extremely clean and the staff are always looking to find themselves busy and helpful.

Dad reluctantly moved into Bethel House in January this year. The Bethel staff and residents are a close-knit family who happily took him into their hearts. The staff are so caring, providing for the needs of the residents with dignity and respect. They ensure their safety and provide an impressive programme of activities and entertainment, which includes a daily dose of singing - which is, by far, dad's favourite activity, if he is not found eating the great choice of home-cooked food. Last month, we celebrated Dad's 84th birthday and the chef made an impressive cake and the staff and residents all came to sing to him. He was very overwhelmed.

Dad has settled well into the Bethel family and he can often be found happily chatting to everyone who will listen. As a family, we can't thank the Bethel staff enough for caring for Dad. It means everything.

Mum first moved here on 31st July. I was worried about the sudden move, that she wouldn't settle but after a few days, she did with the help of all the friendly staff. The home cook gorgeous meals and my mum being a fussy eater, eats everything now. The care home provides very good activities and puts on lots of parties through the summer months. I'm always offered coffee and the cakes are delicious. From what I've seen over the last three months, I have been extremely happy, 100%.

I would just like to say that my husband has been in Bethel House since January 2024 and in all that time the care staff have been wonderful despite him not always being cooperative and in the best humour. The house is always clean and tidy and there is always something going on for the residents if they want to join in. When I visit I have always been welcomed with a smile and very often one of the carers stops to have a chat. I don't know how the staff cope day after day and keep smiling and are 'friends' to all the residents.

My mother has been happy and relaxed in Bethel House. The environment is ideal for my mother. She is happy with her room and likes the food. I think the program of activities is excellent giving the residents a variation on their day. My mother is well looked after, having her hair done every week. She also likes having her nails done.
