We were anxious to find the best home for Dad and Dawson Lodge Care Home has by far exceeded our hopes and expectations. We're so impressed and reassured with the warmth, care and respect shown to Dad and us from the first phone call through to the day of Dad's admission and beyond. His spacious room, which is like a studio flat, has a beautiful view over the field and trees and we were allowed to personalise it for him with his pictures etc. from home before he moved in which made the transition so much easier. He has only been there for a week and we're able to have a garden visit with him on Monday, we were so happy to see that he was in good spirits and looked great. The weekly newsletter and Facebook posts are such a good way of keeping in touch as due to Covid we can't visit freely but we can see that Dad has settled in really well and is joining in and participating in the activities. The home is welcoming, cheerful and bright, all of the staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble.

We've been so happy with the care and attention our relative has received since she moved into Dawson Lodge. The staff are lovely - friendly, helpful and thoughtful - and our 97-year-old cousin is happy and well and enjoying life again! We are so grateful and would highly recommend Dawson Lodge to anyone.

We have always been extremely pleased with the care provided by the diligent and caring staff. My mother is very happy at Dawson Lodge. The communication with the care, administration and management staff is very good at all times.

During the last sixteen months of the Covid-19 pandemic, my mother has remained very safe and healthy. This has been due to the safety and security measures rapidly put in place to ensure that the virus has had limited impact on the home. The home is always well presented and the staff are courteous and polite. I would unreservedly recommend this home to anybody seeking a safe, caring and clean environment for their elderly relatives.

We are so delighted with the care our cousin receives at Dawson Lodge. She has settled in very well thanks most of all to the care and kindness of all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and their attention to any medical needs she has had has been excellent.

Visiting her for the first time for her birthday was lovely and the team at Dawson ensured it was a great afternoon and made such a fuss of her which she really loved. A particular thanks to the manager who is always so helpful and kind and for whom nothing is too much trouble. Thank you the manager and all your great team!

Mum joined Dawson Lodge in April as she was already in a dementia home and the move went very smoothly. Mum was moved because as a family, we were unhappy with the previous care home. The transition happened at an agreed time and Mum's possessions were ready in her room for her. The care team keep me updated frequently and seem to know all of her ways already. Staff are friendly and I like the fact that staff know what's happening. Mum loves it here.

All of the staff at Dawson Lodge go out of their way to be as helpful to relatives as they can. In these difficult times, they have been outstanding in their communication, empathy and skill. Most importantly they have kept the residents safe. Despite several changes in regulations, they have tried their very best to include relatives as much as possible whilst putting safety first. Personally, I would like to thank them all for their dedication, hard work and care. The care home manager is amazing, always smiling and has time for everyone. She is also so caring with the relatives. Thank you to everyone at Dawson Lodge.

I am a retired GP. My mother-in-law was admitted to Dawson Lodge during the first wave of Covid-19 so we were not able to enter the Care Home then, but her reception at the front door was as welcoming as possible and she was rapidly installed in her room and her network needs (Alexa, FaceTime) sorted in less than 1 hour.

Throughout her stay, there was excellent communication (both general via Facebook and e-mail, and personal via phone) with the Staff. If we were Facetiming at the time that Carers came into her room, they always greeted us. There is quite a programme of activities which you can see on Facebook, but sadly my mother-in-law was not able to participate. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law gradually deteriorated and was allowed to die peacefully in her room with full care being provided. The level of care provided by the manager and staff was exceptional throughout, and the room much more like an ensuite bedsit than any other Care Home room that I ever visited professionally.

This is an excellent Care Home, I cannot speak more highly of it. The staff are caring, attentive and professional. My Mum has excellent care and I can rest assured that she is very well cared for. The food is brilliant, the activities are brilliant, the ambience is convivial and the home is lovely and clean. I would definitely recommend.

It was not an easy decision to make, as no doubt many of you know, and made even more difficult when you do not know anybody who can help you decide with a referral of somewhere suitable. I am very grateful to the staff of Dawson Lodge, from reception to the kitchen to the ‘handyman’ and of course the professional team who are caring for the residents. The staff are friendly, compassionate, helpful and understanding, not only to my mother (who suffers with dementia) but also myself and family. They go out of their way. The whole team have taken a load off me by looking after my mum to the best of their abilities. My mum has been in Dawson since the end of July and has never once said that she is unhappy but on the contrary says how nice the home is, that the meals are good and that the staff are very kind, thus giving us peace of mind. This has been particularly reassuring during this COVID period as we were unable to visit it her in her room.

After making the incredibly hard decision to place dad in care, I could not be happier that it was in the professional hands of Dawson Lodge. The manager and her team are all without exception extremely caring and I know my dad is being well looked after. They are very understanding of dads needs as he has dementia.

Their warmth and compassion is plain to see and it is a huge relief that I see my dad looking so well, in good spirits and joining in with daily activities. Dad tells me how wonderful the team are and how he enjoys the food! I am very proud of my dad and would like to thank everyone at Dawson Lodge for giving dad quality of life.

Everyone at Dawson Lodge works tirelessly to make this a happy, caring place to stay. My mother-in-law has been residing there since Nov 2018 and she looks better than ever. It took a little while for her to settle but with much patience, care and understanding she is now very settled and happy. This has made a tremendous difference for all the family knowing that she is safe and well cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dawson Lodge to anyone.

My mum has been a resident for over 2 years and I would like to thank each and every one of the staff at Dawson Lodge for the constant hard work and the excellent job they are doing to keep my mum and all residents safe and happy during this difficult time.

They are a fantastic team and by organising window and garden visit all done by keeping safely to the social distancing rules has made this difficult time less worrying as seeing mum looking so happy, confirms how well she is being looked after.

Had a lovely garden meeting with my 92-year-old dad yesterday morning all the staff at Dawson Lodge were fantastic in making this happen in these difficult times.
My dad so enjoyed to be out in the fresh air and to socially distance meet up again.

Thank you all the staff at Dawson Lodge for looking after my dad and making his time there as comfortable and happy as you can as he can be a bit demanding.

My Mum has been happy at Dawson Lodge. The carers are kind and thoughtful helping Mum with every day care, dressing and eating. She knows the staff even as her dementia gets worse and trusts them too.
I have been confident that Mum is well taken care of even recently when I have been unable to visit. In the last few weeks, the home has facilitated garden visits so that I can see Mum again. They have enabled her to be calm as she sits in the garden in a raincoat or with a blanket so that we can talk to each other.

I would like to say thank you to Dawson Lodge staff including reception and kitchen for working so hard in this difficult time to keep residents fit and happy.

My Mum has been a new resident for the last 5 weeks. It has not been an easy time for her as it coincides with the coronavirus lockdown with no visiting allowed, and as I am also self-isolating, this obviously is causing even more issues! All members of the Dawson Lodge team have been so kind and have really helped Mum to settle in. They have helped with daily phone calls to her and to quote Mum's words...." the staff are lovely, the room is lovely and the food is great too" I feel she is safe and happy and look forward to when my wife and I will be able to visit her. A big thank you to all at Dawson Lodge.

Staff always friendly and willing to assist with any concerns regarding Mum. Mum has now reached the stage where she is unwilling to eat, but the staff, in a very caring way, encourage her to eat, and fortified drinks are provided together with other liquidised foods loaded with calories. I am kept informed if Mum is unwell and the appropriate services are contacted. Mum can be grumpy but the staff handle her with care and dignity and are really caring and kind. My mum has dementia, and I feel that Dawson Lodge and its staff is really the safest and most caring place she can be.

My husband and I enjoy visiting my uncle in Dawson Lodge regularly. We are always made very welcome and enjoy the lovely atmosphere in the home. The management and staff are kind and caring, and my uncle always comments on how kind and helpful everyone is. The building is beautifully decorated and maintained and always looks and smells fresh and clean. The food is delicious and varied and cooked on the premises. Residents can either eat in the beautifully bright and airy dining room or have their meals in their rooms if they prefer. We really value the opportunity to eat in the dining room with my uncle as we did today - always a delicious meal, nicely served by cheerful, kind and caring staff.

A big thank you to all at Dawson Lodge.

My father has been at Dawson Lodge for more than 3 years. The entire team there is very dedicated and genuinely caring, and they together succeed in creating a family environment for residents with seemingly unlimited energy and constant smiles. Nothing is too much trouble. The apartments are practical and kept clean and tidy. Meal times are a particular highlight for my Dad, and the quality and variety of meals are excellent. My Dad often says to me that he feels very lucky to be at Dawson Lodge, and I totally agree with him.
