Sway Place is a stunning, purpose-built care home in the New Forest National Park. The team delivers a luxury lifestyle and round-the-clock residential and dementia care on a respite or permanent basis.

The Hampshire care home is a short drive from Brockenhurst and the coast and offers superb facilities including a café, hair and beauty salon and five-acres of beautiful, landscaped grounds. The lifestyle teams create a varied programme of activities as well as minibus outings to local areas of interest.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

I live at Sway Place in the cottage with my husband and my beloved dog Pixie. Everyone is so kind and welcoming to all of us. I am so happy that life here includes my beautiful dog. There is so much to do here with my dog - including the beautiful grounds I can walk around with my dog and my new friends
who all make a fuss of us.

My mother has been a resident of Sway Place for nearly a year, she loves her accommodation and all that Sway Place offers, activities, outings, meals and it is set in lovely grounds. The team at Sway Place are all so welcoming, from the domestic staff, maintenance, care staff, reception/admin, chef/catering
team and the management, the families are included in not only special events but on a day to day basis. I would recommend anyone looking for residential care to visit Sway Place as it has that 'home from home' atmosphere.


Overall, Sway Place has a homely feel and all the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is of a good quality and the accommodation is a good size. I like that they have quiet lounges, a separate library and a couple of activity rooms. They have regular entertainment and events, which anyone is welcome to attend.

From day one I was made to feel welcome and they made the transition very easy. Prior to moving into Sway Place Dad was in a very dark place, he was lonely, not eating properly and suffering from depression. It was a tough decision to take him away from his family home of nearly 60 years but I need
never have worried, I have seen a remarkable change in him. Since being at Sway Place he’s made new friends, and been taken out on the occasional outing, he has also joined in with various activities and took great pleasure in some of their open day events where we were also invited to join in. I would therefore like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who work tirelessly and have been a great support in helping him to settle in and enjoy life again. I could not be more grateful for the care and sensitivity staff have shown to him in all aspects of the care home, be it management, reception, kitchen staff and cooks, cleaners, medical staff, maintenance, laundry staff, carers and activity staff.

I visit Sway Place regularly and have noticed a recent improvement in standards within the home. There is more attention to detail, focus on the needs and welfare of residents and quality of the service provided.
Things like the cleaning of my mother's room and laundry service have improved noticeably.
The
new garden furniture is very welcome - though the garden itself could still do with a bit more attention in places. So could the external decoration - but I am aware of the plans for external redecoration later this year.
The range and extent of activities offered to residents have also shown significant improvement.
I thoroughly enjoyed the party to celebrate the Coronation.

We are very much in the middle of our improvements to the exterior and held a community garden event recently that was very well received. Both residents and visitors to Sway Place have commented very positively on the changes, and residents are more engaged and actively using the grounds far more than they did. Residents and visitors are also very involved with caring for the gardens, such as watering and planting, as well as growing a range of products in our walled garden, which will be used in the kitchens as part of our seed-to-table project. My mother moved to Sway Place in December 2021 and had 18 months of kind, patient and compassionate care from staff in the Memory Care team. The consistency of staffing exceeded expectations. The team leaders always updated my sisters and me about our mother's health, falls etc, and consulted us about
her care and preferences.
Through her dementia, she believed she was living in a country hotel which spoke volumes for the quality of the surroundings at Sway Place - her room was always clean and tidy. Staff always welcomed my two sisters and me on our regular visits to see our mother, and nothing was too much trouble.

Since contacting the home in January, I was able to view Sway Place shortly afterwards when all my questions were answered, and my mind was put to rest. My 92-year-old mother was very lucky to find that a cottage was just becoming vacant. She was able to move in mid-March.
She is very pleased with
the amount of space and loves the independence that she has there. She can be involved in events happening in the main area or she can be quiet in the privacy of her own cottage.
The staff are all very caring, smartly dressed, polite and efficient. The meals are beautifully presented and very tasty.

My mother-in-law moved to an independent living cottage in Sway Place in March 2023. She relocated from another care home, in the expectation that she would have greater independence; find more residents with whom she could communicate and have more consistent provision of food and other services.
We
noticed Sway Place in a posting on Facebook and liked, in particular, their independent living cottage option that was only slightly more expensive than her prior home. Since moving, her mental state has improved dramatically; she loves the restaurant service and the attentive and friendly staff throughout Sway Place. She also enjoys talking to residents and joining in with the many activities provided. We also experienced their restaurant for lunch, which was excellent.
The cottage is well provisioned for space and facilities, having a separate bedroom and en-suite large shower room. There is a small kitchen area with a fridge and washing machine, although washing services are included.

I have met many residents who have led very interesting lives. This is the last generation to remember World War Two. There is a good cross-section of the population, some very talkative and quite complimentary about life here and relationships with staff. The rapport between staff and residents is
excellent, and some exchanges are very amusing. As in all communities, there is a small minority of complainers who seem to feel it is their responsibility to complain about everything and everybody.
Overall people are very pleased with the staff and services. The kitchen output has improved lately, and meals are becoming more interesting and varied.
Considering what they have to deal with, I am amazed at their patience, particularly during the pandemic and its after-effects. It is clear there are staff shortages, and the way they cover for each other is excellent.
My only small criticism is that the request for a small portion is seldom understood, and there must be a lot of food waste.

We have had a somewhat bumpy ride to eventually get our mum to Sway Place!
Our initial enquiries in December 2022 were dealt with professionally, efficiently, and in a friendly and welcoming manner. Communication was excellent at every stage.
We then hit the buffers with Mum being admitted to the
hospital just after Christmas, with further medical problems evolving. The whole team at Sway Place have been absolutely fantastic in helping us get her from the hospital to her new home as quickly and safely as possible.
She has now been a resident for two weeks, and already we are seeing a big difference in her general health, confidence and sociability. I cannot praise all the staff enough for their care, advice and attention, not only to Mum but to the family as well.
This is a wonderful start for her, and it is lovely to see her smile and laugh again.

We barely need activity staff.
Since I am in one of the cottages attached to Sway Place, some of the ratings do not apply.
Since the group took over a year ago, the food has not been as good, eg breakfast - buffet and marmalade are poor.
Lunch - beef is mostly tough.
Supper-pudding rice is often
substituted for cosy rice.

Francis Bosompim

Job Title: General Manager

I love to see residents flourish and I’m so proud to see our fantastic team play an essential part in making that happen.


As general manager at Sway Place, it is hugely important to me that every person we care for is happy and feels safe. We work hard to ensure residents feel understood. For us, it is about supporting residents and enabling them to continue enjoying relationships with their loved ones.


One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents and their relatives. It is a privilege to get to know them and hear their life stories.


I joined Care UK because it supports its teams. It is an organisation with clear values and there are systems in place that allow each of us to do our best, so residents receive consistent quality care.


I have a BSc in Dementia Studies and an MSc in Gerontology and Ageing. I also have a level five qualification in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. It is an area of study that I am keenly interested in, and I also spend time researching dementia studies at the Doctoral College at the University of Surrey.
