Sway Place is a stunning, purpose-built care home in the New Forest National Park. The team delivers a luxury lifestyle and round-the-clock residential and dementia care on a respite or permanent basis.

The Hampshire care home is a short drive from Brockenhurst and the coast and offers superb facilities including a café, hair and beauty salon and five-acres of beautiful, landscaped grounds. The lifestyle teams create a varied programme of activities as well as minibus outings to local areas of interest.

Residents can choose from a range of ensuite bedrooms, as well as independent living cottages set within the beautiful grounds, perfect for individuals or couples to live independently whilst also enjoying the facilities of Sway Place.

My 90-year-old father moved in to Gracewell of Sway in February after suffering a stroke. He has settled in very quickly which, by and large, is due to the warmth of the staff and the general welcoming atmosphere of the home. He is delighted with his room which looks out on to a courtyard. My sister
and I have been able to make it a home from home and the staff have, again, facilitated this and been very helpful. The choice of food is amazing and dad is very happy to visit the bar now and then!
All in all, the staff of Gracewell of Sway have made his move in to care the best it could possibly be.

I went to look around Gracewell as my Dad was no longer able to live alone. I was very apprehensive about putting Dad into care, but after being shown around and chatting with staff I am so happy to have him there. Dad is so well looked after, he is safe, comfortable and above all, happy. Staff are
always friendly and happy to help. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Dad has lived in Sway for over 30 years and being able to bring Dad to Gracewell where he can still participate in village life and see his friends has brought his family much needed peace of mind. The home itself and surrounding grounds are kept beautifully enabling me to spend and enjoy quality time with my Dad.

I have been here for a few years now (7) and still like it very much. Staff are super with entertainment and stuff. Food is acceptable. (Had better, had worse.) I would not like to be anywhere else and I thoroughly enjoy the bar.

We knew Gracewell of Sway was the right place for Mum. Sway is in a beautiful setting and the building and furnishing are more like a country hotel than a care home. All the staff are friendly, ever so helpful, encouraging and patient. There are all sorts of activities for residents to get involved
in and it's lovely to see Mum looking so well when we visit and chat about what she's been up to.

The fantastic staff and facilities that Gracewell of Sway is second to none and a team that truly does go above and beyond! I visit a dear friend there at least 3 to 4 times and a week and every time I am there, I am delighted to see and experience the sincere support, inclusion and consideration not
only to the residents but to the visitors too. I have been associated with many care homes in a professional and personal capacity and can honestly say Gracewell of Sway stands out one of the, if not the best I have come across. Everyone goes above and beyond. I have witnessed some amazing acts of kindness and life-enriching practices since my friend has been there. There is a lovely, caring vibe whenever you walk into the home and you always hear laughter from the staff and residents alike. It is a beautiful home with a lot of soul! Thank you all for taking outstanding care of not only my dear friend but all the other lovely residents who live there.

A close friend of mine had a blood clot on the brain and now suffers from memory loss and severe confusion at times.
I placed her in Gracewell of Sway two months ago.
The care given to her is wonderful and given with great warmth and affection.
Truly outstanding.
I cannot in a few words do justice
to this wonderful care team who support her.
It is so unlike any other care home I have encountered.

We are delighted with the care she is receiving. She is so happy and comfortable and it was rewarding to note that she remembers Edinburgh. It was very important to her.

My mother became a resident of Gracewell of Sway three weeks ago and looked very withdrawn and quiet. In the last week, she is not only looking better but is chatting with all the staff and myself. The carers there are so kind to her and really make her feel safe and welcome. I often bring food with
me and they then bring her downstairs to sit where we either have lunch or dinner. I am very happy that my mother is being cared for by such lovely staff.

I visited one of the bungalows and thought is was ideal for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues. The landing is very large and the bedroom is very spacious with a wet room/shower facility. The patio is lovely as is the view of the garden.

Mum has been on the 'Nostalgia' floor for nearly two years. The staff have been outstanding throughout. Mum still equates the home to a luxury hotel, thinks the food is great and has a very nice room. The improvement in her well being, happiness, engagement and quality of life has been significant since
moving to Gracewell. I struggle to find fault in any area and have felt this way since Mum first arrived. Great job team - please keep it up!

I have been here now for six years and have seen many changes, but for my part, I am settled and content. Management and staff are always considerate and attentive and everyone does their best to ensure we are safe and well cared for. The only criticism most people - and I - have is the variety and
cooking of the food is not as good as a few years ago, but I understand that is mainly because of the budget allowed. I think they do their best with what they have, but it could improve if they were given more.

My Dad seems very happy at Gracewell. The staff are excellent, very caring and considerat.e Always including my Dad in all the activities, which he enjoys. He loves music and he is encouraged to share his talent with other residents, which you can see is good for everyone.

The home has improved from good to excellent in the last 4-6 months and has benefitted from the stability of the management. Also, the current team is more approachable and any questions or requirements are actioned immediately.
It is now a joy to visit my parents in law as everybody is more relaxed.

From the minute you arrive at this home, it takes your breath away. The grounds and buildings are kept clean and tidy. You enter inside and it is immaculate. It was not an easy decision putting any loved ones into care but when age forces you, I couldn't have made a better choice. ALL staff involved
at Gracewell of Sway are fantastic, the management is very involved with the residents and are always most helpful. The carers are wonderful and the care given is of high quality. Without missing out any department from catering/housekeeping/activities etc all staff are cheerful and polite. It is a joy to visit such a bright and buzzing environment.

Job Title: Home Manager

I love to see residents flourish, and I’m so proud to see our fantastic team play an essential part in making that happen.


As home manager at Sway Place, it is hugely important to me that every person we care for is happy and feels safe. We work hard to ensure residents feel understood. For us, it is about supporting residents and enabling them to continue enjoying relationships with their loved ones.


One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents and their relatives. It is a privilege to get to know them and hear their life stories.


I joined Care UK because it supports its teams. It is an organisation with clear values, and there are systems in place that allow each of us to do our best, so residents receive consistent quality care.


I have a BSc in Dementia Studies and an MSc in Gerontology and Ageing. I also have a level five qualification in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. It is an area of study that I am keenly interested in, and I also spend time researching dementia studies at the Doctoral College at the University of Surrey.
