Sway Place is a stunning, purpose-built care home in the New Forest National Park. The team delivers a luxury lifestyle and round-the-clock residential and dementia care on a respite or permanent basis.

The Hampshire care home is a short drive from Brockenhurst and the coast and offers superb facilities including a café, hair and beauty salon and five-acres of beautiful, landscaped grounds. The lifestyle teams create a varied programme of activities as well as minibus outings to local areas of interest.

Residents can choose from a range of ensuite bedrooms, as well as independent living cottages set within the beautiful grounds, perfect for individuals or couples to live independently whilst also enjoying the facilities of Sway Place.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

We have just visited my friend for the first time since she left Edinburgh.


We are delighted with the care she is receiving. She is so happy and comfortable and it was rewarding to note that she remembers Edinburgh. It was very important to her.

My mother became a resident of Gracewell of Sway three weeks ago and looked very withdrawn and quiet. In the last week, she is not only looking better but is chatting with all the staff and myself. The carers there are so kind to her and really make her feel safe and welcome. I often bring food with
me and they then bring her downstairs to sit where we either have lunch or dinner. I am very happy that my mother is being cared for by such lovely staff.

I visited one of the bungalows and thought is was ideal for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues. The landing is very large and the bedroom is very spacious with a wet room/shower facility. The patio is lovely as is the view of the garden.

Mum has been on the 'Nostalgia' floor for nearly two years. The staff have been outstanding throughout. Mum still equates the home to a luxury hotel, thinks the food is great and has a very nice room. The improvement in her well being, happiness, engagement and quality of life has been significant since
moving to Gracewell. I struggle to find fault in any area and have felt this way since Mum first arrived. Great job team - please keep it up!

I have been here now for six years and have seen many changes, but for my part, I am settled and content. Management and staff are always considerate and attentive and everyone does their best to ensure we are safe and well cared for. The only criticism most people - and I - have is the variety and
cooking of the food is not as good as a few years ago, but I understand that is mainly because of the budget allowed. I think they do their best with what they have, but it could improve if they were given more.

My Dad seems very happy at Gracewell. The staff are excellent, very caring and considerat.e Always including my Dad in all the activities, which he enjoys. He loves music and he is encouraged to share his talent with other residents, which you can see is good for everyone.

The home has improved from good to excellent in the last 4-6 months and has benefitted from the stability of the management. Also, the current team is more approachable and any questions or requirements are actioned immediately.
It is now a joy to visit my parents in law as everybody is more relaxed.

From the minute you arrive at this home, it takes your breath away. The grounds and buildings are kept clean and tidy. You enter inside and it is immaculate. It was not an easy decision putting any loved ones into care but when age forces you, I couldn't have made a better choice. ALL staff involved
at Gracewell of Sway are fantastic, the management is very involved with the residents and are always most helpful. The carers are wonderful and the care given is of high quality. Without missing out any department from catering/housekeeping/activities etc all staff are cheerful and polite. It is a joy to visit such a bright and buzzing environment.

My 95-year-old mother moved into the Nostalgia Neighbourhood floor in July. After a few weeks of "settling in time", she now regards Gracewell as home. She is well occupied with many activities from carpet bowls to musical afternoons to trips out in the minibus.The entertainment staff work with all
the residents to ensure their days are busy. She has home cooked 3-course lunch and dinners each day and coupled with homemade biscuits and cakes during the day Mum is well fed. Mum has been treated with dignity and respect by her carers and as her family, we are sure we couldn't have found Mum better care in the area.The staff are all friendly and welcoming whenever we visit. Mum has her hair and nails done in the home's salon, always has clean clothes in her wardrobe and her room is always well cleaned. I just hope that if I ever need a care home in the future my children find a Gracewell for me!

I wanted to submit a review about the entertainment of the residents at Gracewell of Sway during Christmas and New Year 2016. We visited my father on Christmas day. In the evening, two activities staff had volunteered to arrange some entertainment, which rounded off the day beautifully and to which
relatives were welcome to stay.
On New Year’s Eve entertainment was again laid on, finishing just after midnight. Residents dressed up for the evening as well as participating staff. I felt this was over and above the call of duty and made the festive season very special for those present. I know my father enjoyed both immensely. Thank you.

I just wanted to say thank you to the Management and Staff for hosting such a wonderful Christmas Day. My mother has been living here for about 3 years but this was her first Christmas spent at Gracewell. I joined my mother for a delicious festive lunch and ended up playing Charades in the afternoon
hosted by staff. Everyone joined in and it proved to be a hilarious game. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked through the front door. Residents were sitting opening presents given to them by the staff and delivered by Father Christmas which they all seemed to love. A huge amount of planning and effort has obviously been put into this event and was very much appreciated.


My mother is well cared for and I feel happy when I leave her, knowing that she is in such a safe caring environment. Gracewell is running extremely well under the temporary management arrangement. This team is making a huge positive impact on the way the home is operating. Many thanks, team!

I visit at least twice a week, I get great pleasure going there and love seeing everyone and mixing with the residents and the staff. My friend who lives there is very happy and very well cared for. They have lots of in entertainment which of course they can choose from and a lovely garden they can
walk around, or sit outside. It's a home from home.

Gracewell of Sway is certainly a Rolls Royce amongst care homes (or a luxury cruise liner!) The setting is lovely and the building majestic. The facilities are quite unsurpassed (bar! coffee shop! etc) and all the staff are friendly and caring, ensuring the residents have a very comfortable and dignified
retirement. The only quibble I hear from some of the residents is about the food but that may just be down to personal preferences or otherwise!

I cannot thank the staff of Gracewell of Sway enough for the tremendous support that they provided my elderly widowed Mother (and myself) in the last few months of her life. Following a period of treatment in hospital, she returned home a frail and extremely anxious lady who desperately needed comfort
and care in an environment where she would feel safe and secure. Gracewell was exactly the type of place that I had sought for her and after a month's respite care, Mum told me that she wanted to stay as she was so happy with the loving care she was receiving. During her time there I was welcomed every time I visited her and It felt as though I seeing friends at her 'home'. Sadly she passed away peacefully two days before Christmas but the intensive care and support she received were second to none. I decided to continue with our plan to have Christmas Dinner at Gracewell and I am delighted that we did, it was a wonderful occasion and one Mum would have loved. Thank you all at Gracewell.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Francis Bosompim

Job Title: General Manager

I love to see residents flourish and I’m so proud to see our fantastic team play an essential part in making that happen.


As general manager at Sway Place, it is hugely important to me that every person we care for is happy and feels safe. We work hard to ensure residents feel understood. For us, it is about supporting residents and enabling them to continue enjoying relationships with their loved ones.


One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents and their relatives. It is a privilege to get to know them and hear their life stories.


I joined Care UK because it supports its teams. It is an organisation with clear values and there are systems in place that allow each of us to do our best, so residents receive consistent quality care.


I have a BSc in Dementia Studies and an MSc in Gerontology and Ageing. I also have a level five qualification in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. It is an area of study that I am keenly interested in, and I also spend time researching dementia studies at the Doctoral College at the University of Surrey.
