Westlands Care Home Reviews (88)
Westlands Care Home has a Review Score of 10 (9.962) out of 10, based on 22 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Westlands Care Home has 88 reviews.
The staff are very helpful and caring and the home is clean and bright. The home is welcoming and the staff are friendly to the residents as well as family. It is so welcoming to be asked if one would like tea or coffee.
That really makes it feel like home.
I cannot fault the care, love and attention my father received in his two months stay, until his passing on 17/9/18.
We were kept in constant touch and nothing was too much trouble. A special place.
I was very happy with the care that was provided for my mother, with all the friendly and caring staff.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this review especially at this very sad time, we will miss mum greatly and will miss our visits from you too, take care and our best wishes to you and your family.
My mother-in-law stayed at Westlands for a few months before her death. I cannot speak too highly of the wonderful carers there (I am one myself). Almost all of the carers were cheerful and kind and caring in what is obviously a very difficult job. I saw on numerous occasions, small acts of kindness even for the most difficult of clients. The home itself looked a bit tired and grubby in places but it is the carers that matter. Well done to them all at Westlands.
Very kind, loving and caring.
My mother is 88 years old, suffers dementia and was not coping well in her own home. Despite lots of visits throughout the day, she lacked the support to help her physically and mentally.
In late June, we moved her into Westlands. Since then she has physically improved and her morale is much better as she has support from the home at all times. She adores the staff who always find time to speak and have a laugh with her. This is something she severely missed whilst living in her own home. As her son, I always wanted the best for her and living in Canada makes communication so hard. However, I call the home almost every day and always greeted with a warm voice and immediate assistance to be put through to my mother.
Our choice to move my mother into care was the hardest I have made in decades but I am truly thankful for having selected Westlands where I feel she gets the care she needs from some truly outstanding staff and facilities.
I think this is a well-run home, the staff are extremely helpful and very polite. After I have visited my wife I leave feeling completely satisfied knowing that the home is looking after her extremely well.
Mum's medical state is well monitored by the staff and although none of us in our family wanted our mother to be in a home. We agree that Westlands Care Home is the best of its kind of the many we have seen.
I am grateful to the entire care team for their love and care of Dad, who went through many stages of dementia; each stage met with kindness and good humour.
In the beginning, I organised a shed to be built in the grounds so that my father could garden if he wished and the Westlands Management Team arranged for the entire garden to be securely fenced so that Dad could have as much freedom as possible.
As his illness progressed, the staff moved his room several times so that he could get concentrated care and feel part of a central hub.
During his last days when he was in bed continually, the nursing care was excellent and he was happy and peaceful. His door was open
and there were always people coming and going. As one nurse said 'We love our patients' .... and they do.
Dear Julie, The staff team are so grateful to have had the opportunity to not only care for your dad but also to know you, you will both always be very special to us all here at Westlands and the staff want me to say a very big Thank you for your kindness and for thinking of them.
Whilst in temporary respite care my husband was extremely well looked after and he was so obviously happy and enjoying his stay. His room was large and pleasant and the staff are friendly and efficient. He could not have been better looked after.
Dear Eileen, thank you so much for this lovely review and your sons too, especially at this very sad time for you, your husband was a lovely man and we took great pleasure in caring for him. Westlands staff team wish you and your family kind wishes and are eternally grateful for this review
Our mother, who suffered with dementia, was a resident at Westlands for over two years. In that time, she was extremely well looked after by the staff at Westlands who showed great kindness and care to our mum.
My mother moved to Westlands Care Home in February 2015 at the age of 98 after showing signs of dementia. From the beginning, I was impressed with the 'care' factor. This continued throughout her 3-year stay there.Staff at all levels had the same caring attitude to the residents. Among the organised activities mum particularly liked painting, crafts and the live music afternoons. Living within a few miles of the home, I was a regular visitor turning up unannounced at different times.
Sadly mum became terminally ill last year but was looked after until the end. I would not hesitate to recommend the home.
My mother was in the north wing of the home and we found it to always be a pleasant place to visit. It was large, sunny and with plenty of space to sit or move around when visiting. The carers were friendly and helpful and appeared to do their best to keep mum comfortable, well fed and entertained.
My fellow priest has been welcomed warmly into Westlands House, which is not only a care home but a very caring home. The management and staff are warm and accepting and make themselves easily available: I could not fault them on their patience and dedication. There are many young people working on the staff, which gives the place a bright and lively feel. The house itself is situated in a country setting, making for a peaceful atmosphere with lovely views. I feel very lucky that my priest friend has landed safely in such a lovely home.
The home is very clean and warm and there is a happy feel about the place.
I have not been here long about three months. So far I'm getting to know the staff are all very friendly.
My mother has been a resident at the home since June of this year and I live locally and visit at least every other day. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and extremely caring. If a resident looks distressed, the carers will take their hand or put their arm around them and help to reassure them. The carers often sit with the residents and chat to them and will help them eat their meals if required. The carers get on well and are a great team. Mum's room is always tidy and she is well looked after. The home is well presented and facilities are good.
Thank you so much for your kind words and review Ellie, your feedback is most welcome and the team will be so pleased to know that you hold them in high regard.
I take my hat off to the wonderful carers who were so patient and gave everyone loving care.
My husband moved from home to Westlands Care Home as an emergency admission of the homes available at the time Westlands Care Home was the most helpful and supportive. All the staff were friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help him settle. When he said he enjoyed crumpets- not on the menu- they quickly went and bought some. The rooms are comfortable when he needed end of life care he was moved to a larger room with two lots of windows and a hospital bed. The carers visited regularly to monitor his progress/treatment. On my daily visits, I was updated with his progress. Support after his death was helpful with all necessary contacts sorted.
