My mother has been at Woodlands for over 5 years now and whilst her physical condition and mental capacity have gradually deteriorated, she has continued to be well looked after. There is a full activities programme for those who want to participate and the grounds are beautiful all year round for those that want to enjoy some fresh air and go for a walk.

The staff are welcoming, friendly, patient and willing to spend time with the residents and understand their needs. I have the confidence that my mother is as safe and secure as possible.

Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Brand Marketing Manager at Woodlands House

It is our absolute pleasure to have been able to care for your mother for the last 5 years and we will continue to adapt our care to suit your mother's ongoing care needs to ensure she is safe and secure. My mother has been a resident since April 2023 and has been tricky to settle but the patience and care shown by all the lovely staff at Woodlands has been exemplary. Even when we thought they might give up they stayed firm and so reassuring. I would recommend this lovely care home to anyone. Also, my mother-in-law is there and is very happy and content. The house and grounds are very nice and the catering very good. The family day they organised was brilliant fun and the entertainers they had doing music and singing is really good and enjoyed by all.

Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Area Administrator at Woodlands House

Thank you for this lovely review. We are so pleased to hear that after a tricky start, your mother has settled in so well at Woodlands. It is also great to hear that your mother-in-law is enjoying her time at Woodlands too. We will pass on your kind words to all the staff who I am sure will be very happy to hear that their hard work and caring is appreciated so much.

Mum was 96 when she arrived at Woodlands House Care Home, it was sad for her to lose her independence at such an old age but thanks to the staff and set-up, she soon adjusted to her new surroundings. There is always something "going on" and like-minded people to chat to. Woodlands staff have always been so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has never had a bad word to say and she looks forward to her food, the quiz and day trips out. Thank you Woodlands.

Woodlands House is clean, bright and airy. The staff are cheerful and friendly and the residents all seem to be content and well cared for. Entertainment, activities and outings are regularly organised. My husband was there for a week's respite and is now a day resident twice a week.

After over two years of my looking after my partner, the family decided that the time had come for her to have professional care. We were so pleased that we were recommended to visit Woodlands House Care Home. It is such a lovely, well-maintained building with exceptional grounds. When the pharmacy lady learned of our choice she said we could not have chosen better.

Everyone at Woodlands House, from the CEO to the maintenance man and young tea lady, shows so much consideration to all residents. The staff "at the sharp end", as one, all demonstrate dedication, tenderness and understanding. Congratulations to them all and thank you.

My mum moved into Woodlands House Care Home in May 2021 after she developed Alzheimer's disease and was no longer able to live in her own home. When Mum first moved in, she was in the main part of the home and absolutely loved the activities and company of other residents. It had been a difficult decision to move her into a home, but the staff at Woodlands House were excellent and made the transition very smooth.
Sadly Mum deteriorated a few months later and moved into the higher dependency part of the home, where she stayed until her death in November 2022. The care, support and love she received were exceptional, and I knew that she was in the best place for her needs. As her condition deteriorated, this became even more important for my own peace of mind.

The staff at Woodlands genuinely care for the residents and go above and beyond what would be expected at a care home. The setting is beautiful, and I would unreservedly recommend them.

Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Marketing Manager (Brand) at Woodlands House

Choosing a care home for your loved one is never an easy decision, but at Woodlands House, we do all we can to make the transition as easy as possible, not only for the resident but for relatives too. We are honoured you chose us to care for your mother and offer you our deepest condolences for your loss. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a positive recommendation.

I worked as part of the Woodlands team for 8 years and left 4 years ago. Myself and my family decided a few months ago that my own nan would benefit for 'day care' it was quite a difficult decision to make however and I cannot thank and praise the staff enough. Having worked there myself in the past I trust the team so very much old and new. My nan always comes home beaming with excitement when we collect her. The staff are outstanding and really are a credit to the Hartford team. I cannot put into words how happy we are with this decision we have made. Thank you again.

This is a lovely home set on fantastic grounds. There is ample seating for residents to take part in activities outside when the weather permits. The staff are caring and go the extra mile to ensure the residents are happy and kept active, with much laughter and good humour. After attending the family day, I felt privileged that my mother is part of the Woodlands House community. It is good to know she is safe and well cared for. I know she has her moments, but it was so good to see her smile and take part in the celebrations. Thank you to all the staff, especially the management team and those working behind the scenes.

I could not praise the staff enough at Woodlands, my father took respite care there for 10 days and I can honestly say he enjoyed every day.
The staff are very caring and professional and the residents all seem very happy and very well cared for and looked after.
The home itself is on beautiful grounds and we were able to enjoy the gardens and the quiet room and the lounge. Visiting was never a problem for me and my family and we could go any time, they were honestly so accommodating.

Going forward we now have my father booked in two days a week for respite daycare. I would just like to thank everyone involved in this fantastic facility.

While living in New Zealand - the staff at Woodlands help us keep in touch by setting up weekly Skype calls. After a gap of 3 years, have just managed a trip back to the UK to visit Mum and other relatives. Always a joy visiting Woodlands, lovely welcome and so comforting to see Mum looked after so well. Always fun activities and then beautiful gardens to socialise and laze away summer afternoons - with tea and biscuits!

My mother has now been in Woodlands House for nine months. The care and love she receives from all members of staff are exemplary. They go that extra mile to provide a good atmosphere and there is always laughter and good humour. Every day there is a variety of activities to keep the residents occupied. Also, there is a mini bus which takes them on journeys out. They are also very thorough in protecting residents against Covid. I am sure I couldn't have found a better care home for my mum.

Hi, my name is Katie and I have had the privilege of working in a variety of care settings for the past 16 years. For 11 of these wonderful years, I have been working for the fantastically supportive company - Hartford Care. Our amazing staff work tirelessly to ensure our residents get the very best care they deserve, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

During my time working in the care sector, I have undergone a variety of courses to widen my knowledge, including my NVQ level 5 in leadership and management.

I aim to ensure all residents enjoy their time whilst living in our care homes, and that their relatives feel comfortable and welcome to visit their loved ones. I endeavour to help my staff to feel empowered and supported; to build on their experiences and to learn to think outside of the box.

I pride myself on leading by example and going the extra mile to ensure the residents' needs are always put first.

In my spare time, I like to support my local community and volunteer for the local food bank.

I look forward to getting to know you all and working with you to bring life and laughter to your loved one’s next chapter in their lives.
