Also the young lady whose name I have forgotten who was on reception the first time I visited and showed me around and took me up to my Mother's room was excellent.
Thank you for your kind feedback. Your lovely comments will be shared with the team, including our reception colleague who helped make your first visit a positive experience. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
We experienced kindness and warmth from all staff at all levels. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were accessible at all times. Knowing that mum was safe and well looked after was a huge relief after a lengthy hospital stay. Dad was made to feel very welcome from his visit to mum, this enabled him to spend valuable time with her in the privacy of her room, with regular cups of tea! Mum didn't always take part in activities but they certainly seemed all inclusive and engaging!
Thank you for taking the time to share your family's positive experience of Woodlands. It means a great deal to our fantastic team to know that we were able to support your mum during her stay. Thank you again.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated Woodlands as Outstanding. Woodlands is outstanding or even more specifically as I prefer, a Care home that Stands Out. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed, every member of staff keen to chat and enquire, you feel part of the Woodlands family. A cup of tea offered as you sign in..luxury! Their ethos is a home from home, and it certainly lives up to that, in many ways providing that extra care that we as a family could not keep up with. If you've ever encountered caring for an elderly loved one you will understand the "ups and downs" cycle, well all I can say is my Mum is thriving at Woodlands both physically and mentally ( which we all know are as important as each other). Physically through the care and attention the staff provide, and mentally through the company and stimulation from the staff and the activity programme. Many times when visiting Mums room a staff member is deep in conversation with her, laughing!
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive review. We're incredibly proud of the team and the outstanding care we offer. It's fantastic to see your Mum so happily settled into life at the home and is enjoying all the activities we offer. She truly is part of the Woodlands family. Thank you again for your kind words and entrusting us with your Mum's care.
I've joined my parents for lunch & the food is great!
Christmas lunch was lovely, it was good to be able to spend Christmas day there, with my parents as mum's mobility is not good. However I'm sad to hear that, apparently we will not be able to do this in the future, (the only complaint I have)
Thank you once again to all the hard working staff!L.J.
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback. We are please that you're pleased with the care your parents receive and that you enjoy spending time with them at Woodlands. They are truly part of the Woodlands family. Your lovely comments about our team, activities, gardens, and dining are appreciated by all of the team.
I visit a lady who has been a friend of my mother for over 50 years. Whenever we visit, we always receive a warm welcome from all your friendly staff. Everyone is always so kind, caring and helpful every time we pop in. We particularly like seeing the animals that visit, and they are obviously loved by all the residents, including our friend.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We're delighted to hear you and your mother always receive such a warm welcome from our team, and that the visiting animals bring so much joy.
As Woodlands celebrates 50 years of outstanding care this year, your kind words make it even more special. Thank you again.
All the staff have been great at looking after Mum in the last 5 months, and also in supporting her family when needed. Mum is engaged in lots of activities during the day and loves the gardens. She loves the food. We are provided with good, meaningful updates and love getting the newsletter each week. I would recommend.
Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation. We're delighted to hear that your mum is enjoying the activities, gardens, and meals, and that you've felt supported throughout her stay. It means a great deal to our team to know our updates and newsletters are appreciated. We'll be sure to share your lovely feedback with all the staff.
My mum has now been a resident at woodlands for nearly a year now. Mum always seems happy & content. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The staff look after her so well & always greet you with a smile. Mum joins in with the activities & enjoys going out for trips. It is lovely to receive news letters & be able to see mum enjoying herself as I cannot get to visit as often as I would like. It is wonderful to see that mum is so well looked after. Donna is always welcoming & cheerful as the first face to see. We couldn't have asked for better, safer place for our mum.
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback. We're so pleased that your mum has settled in happily into life at Woodlands, and enjoys the full schedule of activities and trips on offer. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to the rest of the team.
My brother has been a resident at Woodlands for the past two and a half years. My decision to choose this home has proved to be the correct one for a number of reasons. From the warm and friendly welcome everyone gets when visiting to seeing how well cared for my brother is, gives me peace of mind. My brother is happy and content and enjoys the various activities that take place every day. All this is only made possible because of the wonderful staff that work here.
Thank you for taking the time to share your lovely feedback. It's fantastic to hear that you and your family are reassured by the care and support our team are providing for your brother. Thank you again.
She is always happy in herself. Very happy with all the staff, they are always busy entertaining the residents with singing, dancing, quizzes and lots more and taking them out for little trips. The care is outstanding. We are welcomed warmly when we visit. Such a caring and lovely staff.
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback. We're so pleased you and your family feel welcomed and your relative is enjoying all the activities we have to offer in the home. We will be sure to share your kind words with the team
My mother always says we are always doing something different and doesn't know where the time goes.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are delighted to hear that your mother is happy and enjoying all of the varied activities taking place at the home. We will be sure to share your comments with all of the team.
Hello, I have been visiting my friend and neighbour every two weeks for the past three months. She looks and sounds happy, which is great. She says all the staff are very kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, and I have witnessed it myself. Thank you all for what you do.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience. It means a great deal to us to hear that your friend is happy and feels well cared for. We will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to the staff, your feedback is truly appreciated.
Kevin and I were visiting my mum and stepfather from Australia for fifteen days. We were at Woodlands every day and found the staff were very welcoming and friendly. This was our third long-stay visit since mum has been a resident. We have come to know the staff well and appreciate their ongoing care. It was obvious to us mum is happy and well cared for. Julia and Kevin
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful review. We're so pleased that you felt so welcome during your visit and that your mum is so happily settled into life at the home. We value your feedback and look forwarding to welcoming you both again soon.
Mum was a resident until her passing in January 2026. She was well cared for and happy at Woodlands. There were many activities she could join in with but she really enjoyed doing flower arranging. The staff were kind and friendly and always helpful. I would like to thank all for the kindness shown to myself and sister and mum in her last days.
Thank you for your kind words. We are so pleased that your mum enjoyed the activities at Woodlands, especially flower arranging. It means so much to know that our team could support you and your sister throughout and especially towards the end. We wish you and the family all the best in the future.
Dad was very proud of his beautiful room with patio doors opening onto the glorious gardens. He would often tell visitors that Woodlands was the place to be, saying it's so homely and cosy. There are lots of activities on offer. Dad particularly enjoyed the musical events. He also loved going on outings for coffee and cake and to the pub. He often talked about having a good old singsong on the minibus! Sadly, my dad now requires nursing care and recently moved from Woodlands. However, knowing that he was going to one of the group's nursing homes made the transition so much easier. I would like to say a huge thank to everyone at Woodlands for making my dad's stay such a happy one. Our family is so glad we found you.
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. It was a privilege to care for your dad and we're pleased to hear that he felt happy and comfortable in the home; he is part of the Woodlands family. It was fantastic to see him participate fully in our fun and varied activities and outings.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and greet us in a friendly but also professional manner. The home always seems clean and tidy and there are plenty of activities for the residents. The dining area always look really nice.
Thank you for taking the time to share a review. We're pleased to hear that your experience of the team and environment has been positive. Your comments will be shared with the team; we value all feedback, as it helps us to continually improve and maintain the high standards we strive for. Thank you again.
The staff were warm, attentive and genuinely caring. Nothing ever felt rushed or impersonal; they took the time to get to know my dad and treated him with dignity at all times. Communication was excellent, and we always felt informed and reassured.
The home itself was clean, comfortable and welcoming, and there was a real sense of calm and compassion throughout. It truly felt like a safe and caring place.
We were absolutely gutted that my dad had to leave, but that was only because his needs changed and he required nursing care rather than residential, not because of anything lacking at Woodlands. If his needs hadn't changed, we would have wanted him to stay there without hesitation.
Thank you to all the staff at Woodlands for everything you did for my dad xxx
Thank you for taking the time to do a lovely review of the team and our Woodlands Residential home. We will ensure the team read your kind words. We were sorry to see your father had to leave us.
I would like to personally thank all the staff at Woodlands for the fantastic care and attention shown to my late mother. Initially she went to Woodlands on a respite basis but soon realised that she would like to be a full time resident. Residential care is always a difficult decision to make but knowing that she was cared for 24/7 was a huge relief and piece of mind for all her family. I would have no hesitation in recommending Woodlands as a place of outstanding care. All the reviews embody how we all feel about Woodlands.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience. We're delighted that your mother felt at home at Woodlands and the team could support her from the initial respite stay to her becoming a permanent member of the community. The team will be so pleased to read your kind words and that we could provide fantastic care and comfort for your family, it means a lot to us all.
A special mention to the amazing Donna on reception, who made sure my nan & all of us were welcomed from the very first time we entered the doors.
Debbie does a fantastic job at manager & has done for many years. Her care for the residents & care for how the home is run is evident. How happy the staff working there seems also speak volumes
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. Your positive feedback means so much to all of the Woodlands. We are very proud of our compassionate carers, and we never use agency staff. It's fantastic to see your Nan happily settled into life at the home. Thank you again.
I have to take a minute to complete the whole team at Woodlands for the truly wonderful care they give to my very close friend. Nothing is ever to much trouble and they are all so kind. There is always something going on for the residents in the home and it always has such a happy feel to the place, well done all!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, it means so much to all of the team. At Woodlands we care for all our residents as if they were our own family.
Well what can I say my parents have now been living at Woodlands for 2 years and have had the best care and attention. The staff are so lovely and caring and do everything to make life easier. Dementia is a terrible disease and with both parents living with it I cannot think of a better place for them to be cared for. They have a lovely clean spacious room with views of the very pretty garden. I highly recommend Woodlands for all the reasons you look for in a care home and peace of mind for the relatives.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review, all of the staff will be so pleased. It's a joy to care for your parents, we can't imagine the home without them. We're so pleased you enjoy the lovely garden and all the home has to offer. Thank you again.

Meet the Team (9)

I am Alison Lee the Proprietor of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd. I am a nurse with a degree in Nursing and a Diploma in Elderly Care. I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at the Royal Free Hospital when I assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd following my mother's retirement in 1998.
I am immensely proud of the standards of care we achieve and the family ethos and feel which runs through the heart of our homes.

Hello, my name is Laura Cooper, I have worked for the Lee family for over 8 years and I am extremely proud to be the General Manager for Woodlands and Hill Brow’s four homes. With over 20 years of previous Leadership and HR experience behind me, I work with the homes daily to promote and ensure that the happiness of our residents and all our permanent staff members remains at the heart of all we do.

My name is Vicki, and I love my role as Home Manager at Woodlands. I have worked in the care industry since I was fifteen years old. I have worked in a variety of care settings such as residential, nursing, learning disabilities and mental health, as well as domiciliary care. My passion is in elderly care; everyone is unique and has an interesting story to tell. Throughout my time, I have gained a number of qualifications, such as NVQs at Levels 2, 3, and 4, and a Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care and Management. I am proud to work for a company that puts the residents at the forefront of everything they do.

My role is incredibly rewarding. I am part of a massive life changing decision that is incredibly personal and needs to be made with confidence. I think of myself as a guide for families and individuals during this new chapter of their life.
I help support with any questions and concerns but what I love most is every day I get to meet new people, hear their life stories and build great relationships with them and their families. Once they have moved in it is a joy to watch our residents thrive and enjoy life, loved ones too.

I have worked in the health and social care sector for the last 13 years. Every role has been in and around training and development. Being able to develop our staff to deliver even greater care and service to our residents is something I take great pride in. Woodlands & Hill Brow is a family-run business, and this is one of the main reasons I wanted to move here, away from more corporate roles.

I'm Trixie, and I work as a Chef at Woodlands. I absolutely love being part of such a caring company that values and supports its employees. The management team is incredibly supportive and always prioritizes the well-being of the residents and staff.
One of the best parts of my job is preparing meals for the residents at Woodlands. I make sure to have individual conversations with each resident to learn about their favourite foods and preferred drinks. It's important to me that they are happy, so I strive to provide them with wholesome, delicious, and nutritious meals that they truly enjoy.

My name is Debbie Choularton, and I was the Home Manager for Woodlands, and have recently changed roles to Activities Coordinator. I joined the company in 2000 and am very glad to work in such a wonderfully caring environment.
Our residents are so lovely, and the rest of the staff have become so attached to them that we think of them as our friends and family. I am lucky to have a fantastic team under me who help make the home such a warm and friendly place that it is a home from home for us too.

Hello, my name is Gun Shree, I have worked for Woodlands and Hill Brow since 2015 as a domestic assistant. I really enjoy making sure the residents have a lovely clean home and that their rooms are as they like them to be. I love to see the residents happy.

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
