Woodlands is a thirty-nine bedroom residential care home with an excellent reputation in the Fleet community for the consistently high standards of elderly care it achieves. The home was rated as 'Outstanding' by the CQC in April 2021. All the team are permanent, agency staff are never used ensuring strong personal relationships are formed between residents and team.

Trained carers provide 24-hour care and support for the residents, helping to support them in their chosen lifestyle choices and care needs. Residents' dignity and independence are respected at all times. There is a full activities and social programme for residents to participate and enjoy.

Outside, the home has large scenic gardens with a sheltered courtyard in the centre and an active gardening club. Elsewhere, there are level lawns, fish ponds and woodland with its own bluebell glade, all accessible by flat wheelchair friendly paths.

The residents are at the heart of the home, helping the chefs choose the menus and creating the activities programmes with the activities coordinator. Woodlands is a happy home, where the residents' happiness and welfare come first.

Since my mother moved into Woodlands earlier this year, I have been aware of how helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and caring the staff are. The staff are caring, and happy and all have a great sense of humour. We are so glad we, and mum chose Woodlands as a permanent home for her. It was highly recommended
to us by friends who had relatives there, and it is plain to see why they recommended it.

My mother-in-law has only been at Woodlands since March 2023 but absolutely loves it.
We had visited a number of homes, but none were as warm and welcoming - the staff are amazing, lots of activities, we take in take-a-ways and eat with Mum, nothing is too much trouble for them.
We are so happy that
Mum is happy there; it gives the family peace of mind that she is well looked after and safe, with care 24 hours a day.
Well done Woodlands; keep up the good work.

Woodlands Residential Care Home is run by a very professional and caring team of staff. They are friendly, caring and courteous, ensuring that you are comfortable and receive the care you require.
The care home is well-maintained, clean and well-decorated. My room was cleaned to a high standard each
day with towels and flannels etc. also changed daily. A place where I felt extremely comfortable.

Lovely home with exceptionally kind and caring staff. Mum is well looked after and has nothing but praise for her carers. Well-established gardens give the residents a beautiful place to sit in and look out on. I feel lucky to have found Mum such a lovely place to live in.

My dad was a resident of Woodlands Residential Care Home for a period of respite care. The home is comfortable, spotlessly clean and very friendly and welcoming. The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and they are kind, attentive and caring. My dad really enjoyed his stay and it was so
reassuring for me to know that he was being well looked after. Woodlands definitely deserves the rating of "outstanding" for the care they provide.

Even before Mum came to the home, I knew it was the right one for her, especially after viewing several others. Even the visit to her own home was exceptional and put myself and Mum at ease. Which I was grateful for as I knew she would find the transition difficult but unfortunately needed. Literally,
all the staff are just so thoughtful and care beyond words. It makes such a difference for the residents, but the families too, giving you peace of mind whilst there but when you leave as well. If asked, I would without hesitation recommend the home to anyone considering that difficult decision for their loved ones.

I can honestly say my stay at Woodlands has been better than any home from home I've experienced. Nurtured and nourished from morning to night, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, where else could I order my own special daily menus to suit my swallowing problem? Or have a friendly supporting arm to accompany
me to the local shop or hospital appointment, and no matter what puzzle or pickle I imagined myself in, the answer from management was always the same- 'No problem'.
There have been outings to scrumptious cream teas at the local garden centre and a jolly country and western afternoon where two old friends supported each other in the best, most sedate version of a jump jive that two new knees and a replacement hip would allow, recalling happy days on the dance floor with their partners.
Indeed, I've seen so many tired old eyes light up with love, laughter and sheer joy as staff listened with infinite patience to their oft repeated family stories or joined in an old family

My mother has been a resident for around one and a half years. Before moving in, she was very lonely, but now she has a better social life than me. Mum says there are always a lot of things to do, and she likes this because she likes to be busy. Mum is a different person.
The staff are amazing and
definitely deserve an upstanding for their home; there is always management there to chat with if there are any problems.
Mum loves the food and said she only has to ask for something different, and it is there for her. When looking for a home, it was very important to know the food was cooked on-site.

Excellent services for respite care gave grandma the peaceful time there she so deserved in a beautiful room. We were so lucky she could be here, she was so happy here and told us this a lot. We were able to visit as much as we wanted and they were very covid safe. They let us bring the dogs in too

From the moment I was in contact with the team at Woodlands Residential Care Home, they gave me every confidence that they would look after my father with the greatest of care always provided with respect and dignity. He is currently staying at Woodlands for respite care. He says how lovely everyone
has been and nothing is too much trouble. The home has a lovely garden where residents are encouraged to sit out or enjoy walks and enjoy the fresh air. There are a wide variety of activities on offer and various outings to local pubs/gardens and centres/cafes which Dad has enjoyed. Dad feels safe, secure and cared for. He settled in quickly to the new environment after living alone for 13 years. This is all down to the wonderful team at Woodlands who are so caring and compassionate. His stay is proving to be such a positive one all round for him.

My mother in law moved in earlier this year and has been treated with dignity, respect and loving care ever since. She is given the option to join in with the many varied activities available or just to read papers or sit with other residents in the lovely lounges or gardens. She seems to have settled
very well as she has always been adamant that she wouldn’t go into a home.

Mother has been at Woodlands for a year now. She chose her room, which is very pleasant, bright and airy, with good bathroom facilities.
She is very deaf, which makes communication with other residents quite difficult.
At present, Mother is experiencing some stress, due to family circumstances and
the staff, particularly the manager, have shown great sympathy and understanding and gone overboard to try to help Mother through this difficult time. The staff have expressed worries when Mother loses weight and called the GP for advice and give her whatever food they think she might be tempted by.
We felt that during the pandemic Mother, and indeed all the residents, were excellently cared for and protected, as much as humanly possible.
When the staff are helping Mother, they always seem kind and thoughtful, very caring towards her.
My husband and I are very pleased with the care that Mother has, now she is living in Woodlands and feels confident with the care that she is receiving.

Dad has been at Woodlands for 8 months now. We are so pleased to have found him a place to live where his physical and medical needs are well met, and where he is truly cared for as a whole person. When Dad agreed to us looking into residential care, his main concern was that "the staff have the right
attitude". The staff at Woodlands are second to none; the atmosphere warm and friendly. From the outset, the manager and all her staff got to know Dad as an individual, and did a wonderful job helping him settle in. He has flourished in their care, and is happier than we could have imagined when he was widowed last year after 62 years of loving marriage. Dad has made new friends and enjoys all the activities and visits - from cooking and flower arranging to exercise classes, minibus outings, games, singing, arts and crafts, he always has something to tell us about! He loves the garden, for daily walks and sitting in the courtyard, and is very impressed with the plentiful, tasty food.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.872)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.872) out of 10 for Woodlands Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 52 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.872 for Woodlands Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (539 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 610 Ratings = 4.872
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Residential Care Home is based on 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 52 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I help support with any questions and concerns but what I love most is every day I get to meet new people, hear their life stories and build great relationships with them and their families. Once they have moved in it is a joy to watch our residents thrive and enjoy life, loved ones too.

Job Title: Training Manager Joined: 2025

I have worked in the health and social care sector for the last 13 years. Every role has been in and around training and development. Being able to develop our staff to deliver even greater care and service to our residents is something I take great pride in. Woodlands & Hill Brow is a family-run business, and this is one of the main reasons I wanted to move here, away from more corporate roles.

I'm Trixie, and I work as a Chef at Woodlands. I absolutely love being part of such a caring company that values and supports its employees. The management team is incredibly supportive and always prioritizes the well-being of the residents and staff.

One of the best parts of my job is preparing meals for the residents at Woodlands. I make sure to have individual conversations with each resident to learn about their favourite foods and preferred drinks. It's important to me that they are happy, so I strive to provide them with wholesome, delicious, and nutritious meals that they truly enjoy.
