My father, who has dementia, came to Woodlands just over a year ago and it has been a huge relief to his family that he quickly settled in and is extremely happy. The staff are amazing, always ready to help with a smile and interact with the residents all the time. I always get a cheery welcome whenever I visit Dad and kept up to date with his care and any health issues. We are extremely satisfied with Woodlands and would recommend it to friends needing help with a relative every time!

I cannot speak highly enough about Woodlands. The staff are so kind, caring and patient with all the residents. Joan has a lovely garden room and en-suite, which is always clean and tidy. She has three full meals a day, with great choice and variety. The medical care is excellent too. I would definitely recommend Woodlands.

The staff show great patience and sensitivity when dealing with residents, some of whom can be abusive and occasionally violent towards them; despite this, the staff are friendly and helpful. I have nothing but praise for them. The rooms are ample size and the en-suite means residents have only a few steps to go to the toilet. The standard far exceeds other 'homes' that I inspected before choosing Woodlands.

Woodlands has a genuine family atmosphere with people who care for the residents whatever their capacity or behaviour. My aunt has flourished at Woodlands and the care she has received has been outstanding.

Delightful staff in pleasant surroundings but following two points

I find the staff very friendly. If I have any concerns about my mother-in-law, the staff are very informative. When I look at my mother-in-law's activity timetable there are plenty of activities to entertain and occupy her.

Woodlands have been excellent in making my father in law feel settled and cared for. Previously he was living at home and forgetting to always eat and take his medication and had a number of falls.

The whole team at Woodlands have helped him to reduce these falls and he enjoys living in the home and taking part in the activities.

The overall care at Woodlands is excellent. The staff are very friendly. The only disappointment for my Uncle is the activities. The activities are nowhere near as good as they were in 2018. I gather there is a new activities lady in charge. The residents need to provide their input as to what they would like on the activities programme so that this can be improved to make his day more enjoyable and the other residents.

Reply from Lauren Stoneman, PA/Administrator at Woodlands Residential Care Home

Thank you for acknowledging the excellent care provided by the staff at Woodlands. Currently, we are working with a new team of activity coordinators to achieve the right mix of activities for all of our residents who live at Woodlands. We appreciate your frank feedback.

I am a volunteer who visits the Woodlands care home regularly to help out with activities and provide audio and photographic media as required. The home provides care for residential care with provision for those in the early stages of dementia. The staff are well trained, attentive and enthusiastic about the care they give. The gardens are particularly beautiful and the residents spend a lot of time outside, weather permitting.

My Mum was a resident for a year and they were excellent dealing with all her needs. She suffered from dementia. The facilities and staff are excellent. There is a real personal touch. My Mum passed away and the end of life treatment was excellent with brilliant support throughout. It is a highly professional team.

Review from Christopher P (Son of Resident) published on 16 October 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The whole team at Woodlands Care home have been excellent/outstanding re the care of my 91-year-old father as well as their care and understanding for his relatives.
We moved my father from another care home where they asked him to 'quit' because they were unable to care for him as he had a fall whilst out with a carer from said home, this spoke volumes of the poor care he was receiving, unfortunately I am unable to mention the name of the previous care home.
Since being at Woodlands my father's health has needed monitoring, partly because of the move and its impact upon him. The Woodlands team were there to help, guide, assist me and my family and care for my father in a professional and dignified manner, yes there have been a few teething problems but the willingness of all the staff have made what could have been a horrible experience a pleasant and rewarding time.

My dad is happy, comfortable, well looked after and as content as possible given the circumstances.

Staff are attentive and treat all residents with dignity and care.

There is an excellent range of activities which is stimulating and regularly reviewed. The staff put a lot of effort into encouraging residents to join in and especially join the trips out. The senior management at Woodlands foster a 'family' atmosphere and include and support the resident's family.

We are very happy to be part of Woodlands' family.

Dad chose Woodlands because of its reputation for a very good care home and due to him needing more care and assistance than he was getting via home care. Since moving to Woodlands Dad has made new friends and the care has been excellent. He has come alive again. Dad really enjoys the quizzes and pub trips.

Review from Michael V (Friend of Resident) published on 18 September 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

For the more able residents (that have active minds) there needs to be more adult activities like the ones that are played at present are not good for active minds. They are fine for the residents that are not so fortunate i.e residents that have Dementia

More respect and patience is required for all residents (there is some answering back from the staff, for the residents that are more able to have their say)

More trips out are required to break the residents' week up (at the moment the trips out are only on a Friday)

Rooms need to be cleaned more regularly as when we visit there are often dirty cups and crockery left in rooms. More cleaning i.e vacuuming and dusting required.

The staff do work very hard as they have to cater at all different levels.
