My dad was only in Brookvale House for three weeks before having to go to hospital but even in that short period of time, he was the happiest he had been for years.
The home and all staff were fantastic.

It would be great if Dad could go back there.

Very friendly staff, clients are always clean and well dressed. Outside entertainment (singers) are a very high standard. Food looks nice with regular drinks and snacks offered.
Garden has been redecorated nicely. Bedrooms could do with modernising/redecorating.

Beds don't look very comfy.

Review from May K (Sister of Resident) published on 11 May 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I visit my sister weekly, always find her happy and content. She still is very alert and very pleased to see us. The staff are all very nice and helpful and she always says how pleasant they are. We are always welcomed and offered tea, coffee and a biscuit or cake and have been asked to stay for lunch. We feel that she is very lucky to be there. Ten out ten to them all. Her room is always clean.

Reply from Shan Visram, Director of Operations at Brookvale House

My wife has Alzheimer's and has lived at Brookvale House for seven months. The level of care is very good and the open door policy works for me as I try to see my wife most days and often take her out for coffee or lunch. I feel included and valued almost as one of the teams of carers. I have confidence in the management who are ready to address any concerns I may have.

My father has been in Brookvale House since November 2016 and we are delighted that he has settled so well. The staff are absolutely fantastic and have spent a lot of time getting to know him and understanding about his life and his interests.

My father is treated with great respect and is really enjoying his new home. As a family, we feel very happy to see him being so happy and relaxed and looking so well. Brookvale House is a fantastic home, lots to do and really caring staff. First Class.

All of the family and friends comment on this care home as being a very happy home with excellent staff. The size of the building suits my husband as he has plenty of space to move around. I have found them very supportive of me, his carer, especially when I had some difficult down days.

My mum is very happy in this care home. All staff are very caring and friendly. They offer all activities; singing, quiz, music and shows at Xmas. They also runs a sweet shop, where they can buy sweets. There's always a friendly face to welcome visitors and offer tea.

The staff at Brookvale have looked after my mother so well that she has now reached 103 years. Without the care and affection she has had I am sure she would not have survived the 10 years plus she has spent there. It is a happy welcoming home.

Very friendly staff. I noticed they way they are involved with the residents in activities, and also talking to them, holding conversations now and again. Making cups of tea for visitors. A cosy feel, not too pristine as in some places. Lovely garden view from large windows. Clean and bright.

Have visited my aunt lots of times during the past year and have always found her comfortable, clean and, more and more content as she got used to Brookvale House. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and certainly take care of my aunt's every need. I bring my little dog sometimes and the residents are very happy to see him, and I enjoy taking him as much as he enjoys going. The place is always clean, the food excellent and I am very happy for my dear aunty to be there, confident that everything is taken care of for her! A BIG THANK YOU to all the staff.
