I have always been amazed at the quality of care that my mum has received since she has been here (Ashwood). They have an outstanding staff team who are always prepared and happy to make their residents lives as comfortable as possible. As a visitor, I always feel welcome. The staff are friendly and professional and encourage the other residents to participate in the many and varied activities available. Thank you all so much; my mum is happy here.

Cannot recommend highly enough. The staff are amazing and cannot do enough to make Mums stay comfortable. Have rated activities as good as couldn't have meant they couldn't do as many.

So good to be offered the opportunity to see my nan during the covid crisis. Great care has been taken to make the residents comfortable for these garden visits. I am very grateful for all the effort Ashwood has put into keeping families updated during the lockdown. I feel happy knowing my nan is safe in your care.

I have found Ashwood to be a very friendly home. My uncle is very relaxed and extremely happy with his newfound friends and very helpful staff, especially when he was suffering from the virus. Staff have been very understanding.

This care home is amazing. The staff, whether they be the office staff or the carers are incredible. They care for the residents as if they were their own family. It must have been incredibly hard and worrying for them all during the pandemic, but no, they took all appropriate measures to keep themselves and the residents safe, as if it wasn't happening at all. The residents didn't know there was a pandemic. We can't thank them enough, they all deserve so much thanks from the whole country for their love, care and dedication.

Mum came to Ashwood direct from the hospital and found it difficult to settle and first. All the staff have been very caring and helped her adapt to the new routine. Mum is now very happy at Ashwood and gets on really well with the staff, which is a comfort to the family.

Our family is very happy with the care our mother receives at Ashwood. The carers are very friendly and attentive; Mum sings their praises. Perhaps a very important thing to my mum is food, luckily the food at Ashwood is very good.

My aunt arrived at Ashwood after a three week stay in hospital. She was very confused, agitated and previously uncooperative. She was moved to Ashwood late June 2020 and had a dangerously low body weight. At all times when I telephoned all the staff knew my aunt and were able to give me updates on her health and state of mind. I live in France and my first point of contact explained that I could do a video call with my aunt via two portals at the home. This has been invaluable as I have been able to see and speak to my aunt frequently. In my aunt's own words, the staff are lovely and the food is great. She has her favourite newspaper delivered daily, and despite her dementia clearly feels at ease and "at home ". Special thanks to and all the team who have helped settle my aunt in. All staff and brilliant, responsive and caring and I feel my aunt is living in a homely environment and Rosie the house cat just clinched it for my aunt.

All I can say is that since my Mum went to stay at Ashwood Care Home in Ware she has improved far beyond what I could have imagined a year ago.
Mum went there from a previous home in a very agitated and confused state of mind, but within a few days had settled in very well.
I can't fault anyone that works there, their care and attention to each resident as an individual is lovely. I not only enjoy seeing my Mum but also having a good chat with many of the residents as well.
I can ask as many questions as I like to the staff and nothing is too much trouble.
Although I can't visit at the moment I do not have any concerns that Mum is in very safe hands.

It's one of the hardest decisions to put a parent with Alzheimer's disease into residential care, but now My Mum is in Ashwood I have a good night's sleep knowing that she is safe and very well looked after and best of all, Mum smiles all the time now.

My Aunt was Referred to this home via Herts County Council Social Services and we were advised that we should visit while she was fully assessed before becoming a permanent resident. Having been to many Homes to visit other friends and relatives it was like a breath of fresh air to enter this home due to its calm, peaceful, clean, fresh light and well-presented atmosphere. The staff were immediately friendly and approachable and my Aunt although a little confused at first having come directly from Hospital was comfortable and mixing well with the other residents. Having smaller communal areas was a great improvement on what we had experienced with friends and family in other homes and this adds to the quiet calmness enjoyed by residents and us as visitors. Over the past year, it has been like being part of a large family and we enjoy regularly engaging with staff and residents when we visit. It is a happy well organised and efficient home and one we would highly recommend.

I have only been able to visit my mum twice so far because I live 100 miles away, but she is clearly very settled at Ashwood. She gets around using a walking frame which neither her home carers or the hospital had managed to persuade her to do, when we visited her, in her own home, she was disengaged and sleepy, here she is engaged and alert. Often at home, she would refuse to dress in the morning (even with help) but both times I've visited her at Ashwood she has been dressed, and her carers assure me she accepts (sometimes reluctantly) a shower, which she flatly refused at home.

Her legs were ulcerated and extremely swollen whilst she was at home, in fact before going to Ashwood she was hospitalised at least twice for fear of blood clots. When I saw her earlier this week her ulcers were much improved, and the swelling virtually is gone, in fact, her extra-wide -calf fitting socks were falling down. I am reluctantly moving her, but only so we can be closer, and I can see her more frequently.

Was very sceptical when my mother was first sent to Ashwood. After only 24 hours was highly impressed by the care staff and management team. Over the weeks the care my mother received was brilliant and the level of cleanliness of my mother was fantastic. The home itself was very hygienic and clean and modern.

Mum moved here from a privately funded home so we were a little worried about how she would settle in. We needn't have been, as the home has been fantastic and she is getting excellent care. The staff are professional, caring and highly competent. They are attentive and ensure she is regularly eating and drinking which she needs encouragement to do. The staff show mum an enormous amount of care and respect and I see that they also do this for the other residents too. It's a huge relief to see her so well looked after.

I have visited a respite resident on three separate residencies and have always been impressed by the care shown by the staff of Ashwood. It is a warm, comfortable and friendly environment where compassion, caring and the love shown knows no bounds. A very wonderful team of people showing dedication to their duties. What more could one ask for to take care of their elderly loved ones.

During my mother's stay at Ashwood, we have found the care given by the staff to be extremely high quality. They have treated and cared for her as an individual and given her a sense of belonging. The home is in general very well managed, provides excellent food and regular activities either provided by staff or 3rd parties, musicians, choirs, quizzes etc. My mother really enjoys having her hair done weekly in the homes fully equipped hair salon.

I found the care and attention my sister-in-law received when she needed it most after she had a stroke was excellent. The staff nursed her back to health and now over 2 years later she is happy and quite content. We were surprised that she survived and as a family, we are quite happy with her care.
