Grandmother is very happy and well cared for. The staff are polite and cheerful. Would definitely recommend.
My mum had a fall and broke her ankle and needed full-time care, Ashlyns were superb and helped me with every step to move Mum for respite care. The staff were really caring and supportive during a very difficult time. Mum has blossomed there over the past few months and is now a permanent resident. They have gone out of their way to make Mum feel at home and even bought her a fabulous birthday cake and decorated her room with banners. All you want is for your loved one to be safe and happy. Ashlyns have definitely achieved that - thank you.
Thank you for your review it is lovely to know that your Mum is blossoming with us and that it gives you comfort knowing how happy she is.
I cannot speak highly enough of the dedicated staff at Ashlyns Care Home. My mum has received the most excellent care over the last fifteen months since becoming a resident. She is treated with genuine kindness, dignity, warmth and compassion. The home is well maintained inside and out and feels homely and safe which is important to us as a family. Most of all, Mum is very settled and happy there.
Thank you for your kind words of appreciation it has been such a hard year for everyone so your review is very welcome.
My Dad went into Ashlyns when he wasn’t coping after my Mum died. He had become painfully thin and was distraught without my Mum. He quickly settled in at Ashlyns and during his time there put on weight and was very happy. The staff do a wonderful job and Dad became very fond of them all. It is impossible to single out any of them for special praise. He was a northerner and a very independent man and the manager and the staff respected that and made every effort to give him independence and the freedom he needed. He loved to walk in the grounds and to sit in the front garden watching everyone coming and going. When he first went in there and was still capable of driving, he was allowed to keep his beloved car, which made a huge difference to his ability to feel at home without feeling like a prisoner. We miss Dad terribly but will be forever grateful to the manager and the team for enabling him to live out his last couple of years in comfort and amongst such caring, dedicated people.
Thank you for your review and your lovely words for the team. Your Dad was such a gentleman and we remember how much he loved to check on his car every day.
When my mother needed to go into care I didn't know where to start. From the moment I contacted Ashlyns Care Home I felt that everything was falling into place. Everyone I spoke to was so helpful and kind. My mother is now resident, she is happy, settled and I could not be more impressed.
The environment is very beneficial to Nan's health and wellbeing, with plenty to keep her occupied.
My father has been in the home for 15 months now and at every stage, the care he has received has been fantastic. He was made to feel very welcome from the very beginning with all staff taking the time to get to know him and therefore provide a very personal level of care and attention to detail. The staff genuinely care about the residents and this comes across clearly in how warmly he talks about them and the way they treat him. During the coronavirus outbreak, the staff have gone above and beyond to keep the residents (and staff) safe, as well as try to maintain as normal a routine as possible. It gives me great comfort to know that Dad is where he is because I know that he will be well looked after and that he is happy. I could not recommend this home enough.
Thank you very much for your heartfelt review. It is a challenging year and we appreciate your feedback and knowing you and your father have comfort in the way the service is running during this time.
Linen baskets not emptied for 3 days. Bathrooms left without towels for three hours and breakfast time requests not adhered to. I feel now this is a particularly important issue. My husband emailed me on Saturday to say there had been an incident and was not sure if I could visit him on Sunday. Being Next of Kin surely I should have been notified but I had to ring the care home. On my visit, I pointed this out. I look forward to your response on this.
Thank you for your review. Having spoken with your husband, he has said there is nothing wrong with the housekeeping and praised the staff. As you have not been in his room since 7/3/20, we are concerned why you have not raised this before. As for not being contacted the other day we have discussed this with you and the staff did contact your husband's son who he has chosen as his next of kin.
My mother has just moved into this home. She has complained about the staff. Have informed them and it was suggested Mother kept a record of which members of staff were rude. She is very happy with the food and her room. We are happy to review the situation in a couple of weeks.
My mum has only been a resident for a couple of months, and already I have seen a big positive change in her. She is well cared for and feels safe and secure, which is everything that matters. Having people to talk to and share everyday things has given my mum a new lease of life.
Dear Carolyn, thank you for your review, we are really pleased that you are happy with the service at Ashlyns. We really appreciate your feedback and that your Mum has a new lease of life.
It's a tough time for the care home industry, and undoubtedly Ashlyns is working really hard. However, as the patients have dementia, I feel the level of communication between staff and relatives could be improved by having a key worker system.
Dear Jane, thank you for your review. We can certainly set up a regular phone call, however, it may not always be with keyworker due to staff allocation and holidays.
How to handle winter visits will be the next test I guess...
Keep up the great work and thank you for all that you do.
Dear Alan, thank you for your lovely review and your king words. The team really appreciate that you have given the home such praise and especially during these testing times.
I cannot fault any aspect of Ashlyns since Mum joined in Jan 2020. It has always looked and felt right - her room, the communal facilities and the large enclosed garden; the staff, all of whom seem unceasingly friendly, helpful and caring; the catering and the wide range of activities and visiting services that help stimulate the residents and add variety to the week. However, this review is mainly to praise their (and all of B&M Care) fantastic response to Covid-19. They chose to lock-down a week or so ahead of the general population, with extra stocks of food, PPE, cleaning products etc safely in place. They then maintained a rigid no-visitors regime until it was safe to resume, since when they have operated a strict but slick procedure for handling individual visits in a separate area. They have also organised regular access to testing. I have seen no evidence at Ashlyns of any of the care home doom-and-gloom reported in the media and I believe Mum could not be in a better place.
Dear Jim, thank you for your review and your kind words. The team really appreciate your feedback during these challenging times.
Excellent!
Ashlyns have been brilliant during the corona pandemic. They have kept my mym safe, well and happy during this difficult time. It's been a really trying few months not being able to visit Mum, but I've been kept in touch through Facetime, phone calls and email, which has been great. Now that visiting has restarted, I feel that Mum is still safe and that her mental health has improved greatly. Hopefully, things will continue to improve, and the family will be allowed in the building soon.
Dear Linda, thank you for your very kind words and the staff appreciate your comments.
I have always found Ashlyns to be a caring and welcoming place and it is a big comfort to me that my aunt is so well cared for and treated as an individual. The staff have also been extremely helpful with all the administration and dealings with the council.
Dear Dean, thank you for your review and your kind words; the team really appreciate this feedback.
My Grandad receives absolutely fantastic care; I couldn’t ask for better! The staff always welcome visitors with a friendly smile and are so accommodating and helpful. They have all been beyond fantastic during the coronavirus outbreak.
My mother lived at Ashlyns for five years and I was very happy with the kind and thoughtful care given to her. So when my mother-in-law required care my family had no hesitation in asking Ashlyns for their help. Ashlyns went to great lengths to help and ensure my mother-in-law’s needs and likes were met. I would not hesitate to recommend Ashlyns for a loved one to reside under their care.
Top home caring staff and their commitment to keeping residents safe during Covid-19 despite inactive government was and is very reassuring.
Residents are treated with care, kindness and dignity. The staff are excellent, many have worked at the home for a long time and take real pride in what they do. I’ve been very impressed with the way things have been managed around COVID, the team reacted quickly and have avoided any infections so far.
