Stanborough lodge is a lovely care home, the staff are always busy and every staff member is lovely and welcoming they always offer me and my little boy drinks and biscuits. I've been going during the heatwaves and they've kept it nice and cool and I've seen the residents having ice lollies on a few occasions. All the residents seem happy and there kept busy with activities today they were making bracelets for friendship day which was lovely to see last week they were up dancing to old classics, we look forward to our visits each week.

My auntie June has been a resident since December 2025, since she went in she's eating well and put weight which was needed, she has lots of company, she used to hate being lonely, it's lovely to see the bond she has with the residents and staff, its also nice to see her joining in with the activities, staff are always friendly and welcoming , Stanborough Lodge is a lovely care home, it doesn't feel like a care home and feels more like a family home, I would recommend!

Stanborough Lodge is a very welcoming home with a lovely atmosphere.
The residents that I have met seem very happy being there, I was very concerned when my mum had to go there due to a not great experience in a previous care home for restbite, but the staff here are all lovely and were there to help my mum settle in , always keeping me updated with everything.

My mum seems to be improving every time I see her, so thank you to everyone involved.

Having a parent with complex care needs is incredibly challenging. When Mum became a resident she was in a bad place physically and emotionally after a very long hospital stay. Jo & her team worked incredibly hard to stabilise her & have gone above and beyond in the two months she has been a resident. Additional support, referrals, safeguarding, working collaboratively with us - they have put in place everything that she needs to the live the rest of her life comfortably and peacefully. Through their sustained efforts, the team have taken us from absolute crisis point as a family, to feeling fully confident our Mum is in safe hands. I don't believe any other team could have turned things around for Mum, and I will be forever grateful for what they have done (and continue to do) for us.

Stanborough lodge manager and staff have been so welcoming and helpful in settling my mother in law in during December. The communication has been excellent and we have felt supported throughout this difficult transition of my mother in law who has dementia.

The activities and family feel of the lodge is excellent and has no doubt helped her to settle in, but has also been a great comfort to us as family.

My father in law moved into Stanborough in October having previously been cared for elsewhere. The difference in the standard of care offered was immediate and very apparent. The staff and management really care and provide an excellent environment. The improvement in my FiL is tangible and he is much happier and more communicative than before. The food and cleanliness is very good the events which are provided are excellent with everyone enjoying themselves and participating

This is a very good and well run care home with full time professional staff.

My mum's time at Stanborough Lodge was short but I've never seen her happier. She particularly enjoyed the parties. She was suffering from dementia and the care she received was exemplary. As too was the kindness she was shown at the end of her life. The staff at the care home still make me feel like one of the family.

My mother has been a resident at Stanborough Lodge for two and a half years. In spite of her progressing dementia and inability to communicate, she continues to be happy, content and very much enjoying the company of other people. All of the staff work so hard to ensure residents have the best possible quality of life, care and attention.

My Dad has now been a resident of Stanborough Lodge for a year. He is really happy and it is definitely his home and the other residents and staff his family and friends. He benefits so much from the activities designed to promote memory and movement, social interaction and wellbeing. Before he moved into the home it felt like we were losing him to dementia. Now with the outstanding care we feel like we have him back. I cannot rate Stanborough Lodge, Joanna and her team highly enough. Just wonderful!

My Father moved in to the home in April 2025, this was a big move for us both from living in his own flat to moving to residential care, the experience from the initial enquiry was outstanding and has continued to be for the whole time he has been a resident.

The Registered Manager is extremely knowledgeable, supportive and remains in regular Communication, any queries are responded to quickly and efficiently.

The staff team is small, offering continuity of Care, you can see they genuinely care and treat all residents with kindness and compassion.

The staff respond quickly to any change in care needs and keep me updated, it is clear they have excellent communication between them as every member of staff knows exactly what is happening, they.

The home has activities in place which are inclusive to the residence, their family and friends. The staff are always smiling and enthusiastic and keen to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

I cannot recommend this home highly enough.

Meet Joanna Sage – Registered Manager at Stanborough Lodge Care Home:

Joanna Sage’s journey into care began with a deeply personal experience: supporting a family member in need. That early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for helping others, especially older people, and laid the foundation for her career in care.

Joanna joined Stanborough Lodge in 2021 as a Care Coordinator. Her dedication and leadership quickly shone through, earning her a promotion to Deputy Manager by November of the same year. In May 2023, she proudly became the Home’s Registered Manager after completing her Level 5 qualification and successfully passing the rigorous CQC interview. She credits the unwavering support of the RMD Care Directors for believing in her and encouraging her every step of the way.

What Joanna Loves Most:
Joanna thrives on the strong sense of teamwork at Stanborough Lodge. “It feels like it's home from home,” she says, “not just a workplace.” Together, the team creates a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe, valued, and truly cared for.

A Meaningful Milestone:
Under Joanna’s leadership, the home has gone from strength to strength. She’s especially proud of the strong relationships her team has built with residents’ families, an achievement that reflects her commitment to open communication and compassionate care.

How Her Team Sees Her:
Fun, energetic, hardworking, and supportive—Joanna is known for lifting team morale and boosting confidence. Her leadership style is rooted in empathy and encouragement.

A Memory That Stands Out:
Joanna recalls welcoming a nervous new resident on their first day. She spent time getting to know them, showing them around, and chatting about their interests. By the end of the day, they were smiling and relaxed—a moment that reminded her of the power of kindness and patience.

What “Quality Care” Means to Joanna:
“To me, quality care is all about kindness, respect, and patience,” Joanna explains. “It’s about treating each resident as an individual, listening to what matters to them, and making them feel safe and valued. Reliability and compassion are key—so families know they can trust us.”

A Message to Families:

“When families come to view Stanborough Lodge, I want them to feel reassured and welcomed. Their loved one will be cared for with genuine kindness and attention to what matters most. As a family-run home, we pride ourselves on creating a caring community where every resident feels at home.”
