It’s early days, but we’re very happy with the care Nan has received to date. The staff genuinely seem to really care and build relationships with their residents, and despite being extremely busy, are helpful and friendly to family and friends when visiting. I love the updates on the FaceBook page,
as do my parents especially, who live in Greece - so lovely to still feel connected and see photos of her day.
Thank you.

My father has Alzheimer’s; he has been in Oakdene rest home for over five years. In all that time, he has been treated with respect, dignity and love. The staff and management look after residents as if they are family.
Communication with relatives is excellent; I can ring any time, and I am kept
informed of Dad's condition. The family are included in the care.
Daily activities are tailored to the individual. Musicians and singers come in from time to time.
There is no regime if a resident wants a day in bed or in their pyjamas, then that’s what they have as if they were in their own home.
The care given is second to none. The home is decorated like their own house. Pictures and decorations are what you would expect from their era.
During the recent pandemic, the staff went above and beyond.
I would not hesitate to recommend anybody to this wonderful home, and its truly hard-working, caring management and staff.

My mother-in-law has been at Oakdene for respite care for just over a week. The care and loving nature of this residence is clear. From the visit, we have had and the updates we can see, it is clear she is happy and safe in her new home. The carers we spoke to were professional and accommodating to
us during our visit. Her room is clean and decorated nicely. The facilities and activities laid on mean that the residents are kept occupied and engaged. A lovely place.
Reply from Sharon Cordrey, Registered Manager at Oakdene Rest HomeThank you for your kind words. We look forward to continuing to care for your mum-in-law.

My nan is staying at Oakdene for respite, and we are so impressed by it. As soon as you walk in, it feels like a home, not a care home, which is lovely. My nan is incredibly happy and very well looked after. All staff are so patient and kind with her, and we couldn’t ask for a better place for her to
be. Their social media page for families is absolutely brilliant and always updated, and we can see exactly how Nan is getting on daily.

Fantastic rest home with dedicated staff.
I couldn’t wish for my mother-in-law to be better cared for.

My mother has recently passed away, but the care she received for the two years she was at Oakdene was excellent.
All staff, including the managers, were extremely caring to both residents and their family members.
I would definitely have no hesitation recommending Oakdene Rest Home to friends, family
or other members of the public.

The staff at Oakdene care treat all residents as if they are personal family members and feel the trauma themselves when residents are unwell.
The standard of care is so high that we know we can trust them with every part of our relative's care.
They are transparent, honest, and, most of all, the
best team I have ever come across.
They know how to care for the residents and their family's rooms.
A huge thank you to you all.

My mum was a resident at Oakdene for three years until her death in January 2023. She was so happy there, and the staff showered her with love. They treated her as though she was their grandmother.
They cared for her in her final days when I was unable to visit due to Covid. My son, a doctor, was
able to visit and said the standard of care given was equal to anything he had seen on the intensive care wards.
We have nothing but praise for Oakdene.

My late father was in the wonderful care of Oakdene during the last year of his life. As his health deteriorated, the staff cared for him with dignity, respect and compassion. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for him and for all the support they gave us as a family during such a difficult
time. We stay in regular contact with the team at Oakdene because they became part of our family.

Very helpful staff. My mother-in-law was sent to Oakdene from hospital. She has been cared for by all concerned far better than we could have done.
Whenever we have been visiting we has always felt very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.693)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.693) out of 10 for Oakdene Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Oakdene Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (141 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakdene Rest Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
