Overall Experience
My father was resident in Oakdene from August 2018 until his death in March 2019 the staff were kind, caring and respectful of the needs of Dad and of the family that visited. There is always someone on hand to help and kept us up to date with all of Dad's needs, nothing is to much trouble for them.
While Dad was able, they took him out on trips and often sat with him in the garden.
Towards the end of Dad's life he was always treated with dignity and even when he was close to death there was always someone with him they played his favourite music and kept him company right to the end.
We were lucky enough to be with Dad when he passed. The staff were kind and comforting but not intrusive.
We cannot thank the manager and all her staff for their care and compassion in the short time Dad was with them and I would recommend this rest home to anyone who is in the position we were in last year.

The whole team deserve recognition for the high standards achieved in looking after the residents.

My first experiences when visitingOakdene was very pleasant and I immediately felt that it was the right place for my wife to be cared for, in my stress, which I felt at the time I was greatly relieved. Four months have passed since my wife was taken in. To know that she is very happy at Oakdean Rest Home is a relief.

My mother has settled here very well. All the staff are very caring. I have never seen a carer get cross or angry, only ever seen love and cuddles. There is plenty going on at all times whether it be verbal quizzing, puzzles or some kind of live entertainment.

Mum was with Oakdene for 10 months before having to go into a nursing home.
Oakdene met all of mums needs.

The staff were all kind, friendly and professional. She was well looked after. The food was lovely and varied. We were very sad when mum had to leave. I would recommend Oakdene to anyone looking for a caring 'home from home' care home.

So pleased with the care my Dad receives. The carers take the time to chat to him and make him feel comfortable. My Dad never liked the sound of a home until he went to Oakdene where he is happy.

Mum has been at Oakdene for a year now, even though she has advanced dementia, she seems happy.

The management and staff are all very attentive and caring. Mum's health is not always good but we are kept well informed and the staff call on the doctor if they are worried. The home is small and very well kept with individual rooms kept nice and clean. I am very happy with mum's care.

All the staff are caring and understanding of individual needs. The staff seem to be consistent and not much change of personnel so clients feel comfortable, they are known.

The actual care home is always being updated and decorated which is good.

Dad moved into Oakdene Rest Home earlier in the year and enjoyed his time immensely. The staff are second to none, always happy and/or smiling and willing to dance when dad wanted to, he loved that. The food was plentiful, good and enjoyable. Events at the home were fantastic.

Review from Linda H (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 13 December 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mother-in-law was a resident at Oakdene Rest Home for 3 years during which she treated with care, support, dignity and good humour. I never saw any residents treated with anything less. I did have some concerns about personal care under previous management, which I raised with the manager when the response was unsatisfactory I raised the issues with the owner. The current (new) manager has vastly improved the morale of both staff and residents.

In the last few days of her life, my mother-in-law was nursed with genuine affection by the staff. My only concern has been with laundry. Clothes are washed and dried too hot and colours obviously mixed.
