My mum is a resident (since May 2017). It's a new experience for us all. All of the staff at Oakdene Rest Home have been kind, helpful and welcoming to Mum, but also to us.
We can visit anytime unannounced and I've always found my mum happy and with other residents, joining in activities.

Mum's health and general wellbeing have improved enormously since being at Oakdene. I can't thank them enough.

I find Oakdene to be extremely homely. Staff are friendly, caring and always helpful.

The professionalism is second to none. Staff are kind and caring towards the residents and are always helpful when you need them. Oakdene is well run, family orientated, clean and the elderly are very smart, clean and tidy. Beautiful.

Overall Experience

My mum has been in the home for nearly 4 yrs. I'm happy that my mum loved it as soon as she went in. She's not happy when you want to take her anywhere. My mum has a lovely room which she can get to when she wants. If she wants to stay in her room she can. She does like to join the other residents in the lounge, sometimes she joins in with the activities she enjoys that, especially when I visit and join in with them. They all end up laughing or clapping each other. The home is very clean and mum enjoys the food. The staff can't be faulted they are brilliant in their care.

I have found the care of my father to be wonderful. He is definitely treated as a person. He has shown to us that he is very happy at the home, even though his dementia prevents him from verbalising his feelings staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Overall Experience
I have much admiration for the care staff at Oakdene, over the last two years they have worked under much pressure. With a change of management, I feel this has been a very challenging time for the original staff, many have left unable to cope with the new management's changes.
My mother has been there for over four years, she is probably the longest resident there now, she is a real character and probably not the easiest resident to care for, she say what she thinks, and certainty staff at Oakdene know just how to handle her, I appreciate that.
There have been many times my wife has had to speak to the management, with complaints, on their part but never complained about the care staff, that is the reason my mother remains at Oakdene, as she is self-funding we could easily move her on.

My wife visits regularly to the home, she has had many issues over the last two years, with health and hygiene regarding my mother.
