My nan and granddad have been residents of Woodstock Residential Care Centre for over a year now. It is always a challenging time for the family to deal with initially but for us seeing them happy and content means a lot. We know that they are well looked after together. Thank you to all the staff for
your continued hard work.

The staff are very much aware of my mums needs and keep me up dated with any medical needs and changes. They always engage with her and offer her different activities that they feel she will enjoy. The activities team are marvellous. Many times my mum has been up dancing and signing with them and loves
dressing up. I am grateful for all they do.
Reply from Silvia Barret, Operations & Compliance Manager at Woodstock Care CentreThank you so much for such positive feedback. I'm so happy to hear that your mum is well looked after and enjoys her life at Woodstock. I will pass your review on to the team - I know they will be over the moon to be recognised for their love and care.

If you are looking for a care home in Sittingbourne for your loved one, I recommend you pay a visit to Woodstock Care Home. It is such a happy, homely place to be. All the staff are amazing, they do their best to help and keep the residents happy. They really are lovely. The home has so much going
on. It is up to the individuals if they want to take part or not in various activities. They also have quiet areas and beautiful grounds to sit out in. The home is run by a brilliant dedicated manager. she is so very caring, thoughtful and professional ( I hope Nellsar management read this review! As your company has the most genuine Woodstock manager, she is fully committed). I must add that relatives are made very welcome and can visit when they wish.
It is well worth looking at the Woodstock Care Home videos and photos, also, write ups as there are far too many things to mention in a review.
Reply from Glenda Osmotherly, Director of Operations at Woodstock Care CentreThank you so much for this positive feedback and yes Nellsar Management do read all the reviews and use the information as a vehicle for positive change. I will, as always contact the staff team following this review and remind them how proud they should be and the benefit their excellent care and kindness provides which extends to the whole family. The manager is exceptional, she cares with a passion about her residents and families and always strives for her home and her staff to be the best they can be, excellent care and lots of opportunities for fun.

My nan came to Woodstock for respite and we were so pleased with how quickly she settled. The staff are so caring and attentive so supportive to us as a family. My nan settled so well that as a family we decided for her to stay as a permanent resident. To see my nan so well looked after, settled, clean
and well fed is such a relief for us. We definitely made the right decision for her as she is so happy there. She absolutely loves the activities.

Unfortunately, I feel that standards have slipped a little. There seems to be an issue with the washing and often I find clothes in my mum's wardrobe that are not hers. The toilet near the dining room area the other day did smell and I feel that the home inside is looking a bit tired.
My mum's room
looks a bit tired and the curtains do too. Also, her window is still wooden framed.
I think that the money we pay each month that things are getting a bit neglected.
The care staff do a wonderful job and my mum is well looked after.

My mum has been ‘working’ here for 3 years now! She is well looked after and seems happy enough, she loves a bit of banter and enjoys joining in with the activities and going on outings out. The staff are absolutely fantastic, they work so hard to make everyone feel welcome. I’m not in generally at
meal times but the one time I did pop in at tea time, Mum had sandwiches that in my opinion didn’t look very appetising and were stale! So maybe a little more attention to the food/menu. I appreciate it’s not easy feeding so many but at the same time, it’s at least got to be appealing and fresh. With regards to the laundry, I think the home is back on track as I know they were having a few problems, but as long as everything is named it makes their life easier for them, being understaffed doesn’t help. Overall though Mum is really happy there with her friends and I don’t have to worry about her as I’m kept up to speed with everything.
Reply from Silvia Barret, Operations & Compliance Manager at Woodstock Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Woodstock Residential home. I am so glad that your Mum is happy joining in day-by-day activities, and is well looked after. I will pass your lovely comments to the staff in relation to their hard work, and responsiveness to our resident's needs and wishes. I am happy to hear that the laundry service has improved. Thank you for bringing to our attention the issues related to supper time. I will discuss this with the home manager and head chef, and we will review the Menu taking into consideration the resident's wishes and needs. Your opinion is very important to us, helping to improve our service and provide better quality care for our dear residents.

My dear father has been a resident for more than two years now and regards Woodstock as his home. He is treated with loving care and kindness by the wonderful staff. My family and I know that he is safe and secure. The activities are varied. I enjoy being able to take part in recent Christmas fun! The
home is always decorated in a way that reflects the season or celebration, e.g. Halloween, Valentine's and Christmas. My father particularly likes the regular church services. I am always made to feel welcome by all the staff, and I appreciate the time they spend listening to any questions or concerns that I may have, whether speaking to me in person or on the telephone.

My mum, who has Alzheimer’s, has been at Woodstock for nearly six years now. She has been and is very happy at Woodstock. Everyone at Woodstock has gone out of their way to make Mum feel at home.
The care home manager is very approachable and does listen.
As Mum's condition has worsened, staff have
adapted their care to suit her needs.
As a regular visitor to Woodstock, I feel that I am always welcome, and I appreciate the way that staff keep me in the loop, albeit with regards to the need for Mum's shower gel to be replaced or the fact that Mum has been seen by the GP.
Woodstock is a warm, friendly place to be with excellent care facilities and enough things going on for everyone to be kept busy if they want to be. I would and do recommend Woodstock if you are looking for a care home for your loved one.

Unfortunately my father passed away at Woodstock Care Home on the morning of 18/12/2023. My mother and l were made to feel very welcome to stay at the home during his final days, in fact, we actually stayed at his bedside for 5 nights prior to his passing.
The care my father received in his final days
was exemplary, with kind and caring staff who all showed him compassion and dignity throughout.
My mother and l can not praise the staff enough. They also provided us with 3 meals a day and a constant supply of tea. Coffee and cold beverages. Their support for us both was also phenomenal and we will forever be in their debt.
My father spent his last year at Woodstock and was extremely happy.
Thank you all so very much. My mother has also said if she needs care in the future can she book now.
Reply from Silvia Barret, Operations & Compliance Manager at Woodstock Care CentreWe are so sorry for your sad loss. Your Dad was such a gentle nature and he will be greatly missed.

My mother-in-law is always happy and content when I go to visit her, often surrounded by other residents with a trusty cup of tea in hand. Over the years I have known her to be quite nervous and anxious, since living at Woodstock she is no longer that way at all and that's down to the carers supporting

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.713)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.713) out of 10 for Woodstock Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.713 for Woodstock Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (241 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 320 Ratings = 4.713
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodstock Care Centre is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Collectively, our team has a wide range of exceptional skills that enable us to focus on the well-being of our residents, and deliver tailored, person-centred care.

Our Unit Managers make sure our residents’ clinical care and medical needs are expertly catered for, and our care staff work extremely hard to ensure that residents receive the best all-round care, in a way that is of their choosing. Ensuring our residents’ happiness and contentment is of the utmost importance, as is making sure they feel like Woodstock is their home.

Our Recreation and Well-Being Team provides a broad range of meaningful activities that allow residents to enjoy life; family and friends are very much a part of it all. We have a fabulous Catering Team that provides delicious meals for our residents – varied menus that cater for all tastes and medical needs.

Our Housekeeping department ensures our Home is kept clean, tidy and maintained to a high standard, providing a comfortable and attractive environment our residents can enjoy and feel proud to live in.

Put all our wonderful teams and shared values together and this is Woodstock; we care about providing a real home environment for our residents and are very proud to be part of the Nellsar family."

Job Title: Senior Recreation and Well-Being Lead Joined: 2016

“Hello, my name is Marina Foreman. I am the Senior Recreation and Well-Being Lead at Woodstock Residential Care Home and I started in December 2016. I’m very proud of completing multiple training courses over the years, including Mental Health Level 3, the Care Certificate, Advanced Course Dementia, NVQ Level 2 in Principles of Dementia and Virtual Dementia Tour.

I passionately believe meaningful activities are the key to good mental health and well-being. I believe that everyone has a value and I want to support people to lead their best possible lives. My job role allows me to bring smiles to people's faces and seeing the residents having fun, laughing and enjoying themselves makes me happy. It gives me great pleasure to know that I’m making a difference. I am also very proud of getting Woodstock in the newspaper and the good feedback I receive from families about the Activities that we provide at the Home.

Over the years, Activities has become more widely recognised as a very important part of care for our residents’ well-being. Nellsar and the team I work with at Woodstock are very supportive with my ideas and helping me to achieve my goals and bring activities to the Home.”

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

“I currently work at Woodstock as a Kitchen Assistant, and I have been an assistant cook since June 2019. I previously worked as a Kitchen Assistant from 2007 to 2009 and I came back in June 2020 on a teatime duty.

I became a Care Assistant at Woodstock for a year after leaving my job in Sittingbourne Community School as a Catering Assistant, which I worked at for nearly eleven years. When the pandemic started my job role changed as I became a full time Kitchen Assistant and Assistant Cook. I even became employee of the month on the year of 2019!

I have been provided with lots of different training from the Home including Dementia Care, First Aid, Nutrition and Hydration and much more. I also achieved a certificate for the Nellsar Chef Masterclass in 2019.

I love and enjoy my job – especially in the cooking. Over the years working at Woodstock, I gained a lot of confidence. Working with such a friendly and supportive team has helped me grow throughout my journey and I feel I have become stronger in myself.”
