Whether this involves arts and crafts, singing along with live entertainers, gardening and cooking, one-on-one time solving a crossword, or a gentle hand massage, residents’ individual preferences are always considered.

Championing the importance of person-centred nutrition for older people and those with dementia, Nellsar employs a Head of Nutrition and Wellness for their homes. The Woodstock catering team recognises that nutrition and hydration are integral to good health and well-being, providing delicious and nutritious meals and snacks every day.

Woodstock also benefits from a well-being team of fully qualified holistic therapists who use nurturing touch, complementary therapies, and relaxing treatments to enhance residents’ quality of life and sense of well-being.

Woodstock is a beautifully run care home, most friendly and welcoming. The staff are highly professional and most caring, treating residents with respect and caring for them as individuals according to their various needs. There is such a happy atmosphere and just looking at the residents shows just
how much they are cared for and respected. Visitors are always made to feel most welcome and the whole place presents as a home in the nicest possible sense. Within days of my father-in-law becoming a resident, his demeanour and appearance improved considerably and his happiness and contentment is so evident thanks to the excellent care he now receives. The contact made with relatives and the providing of information as necessary is also excellent.

My mum has only been in Woodstock for 3 months, in that period of time I have found Woodstock staff exceptional in their handling of any queries or concerns I have had, they understood our apprehensions with the new way of life for mum and the family. I have seen how very considerate and caring they
are towards all the residents, I know my mum is safe.
I did visit a few homes before choosing Woodstock but I did not like their clinical vinyl floors and lack of homely feeling. I chose Woodstock because the building is a 'proper' home, it is warm and welcoming with the décor and clean without having a clinical (hospital) feel. Right choice.

Whenever I visit Woodstock, I am welcomed at the door by a smiling member of staff, whether that is a senior member of staff, general helper or cleaner. The staff are easy to approach, always listen to any concerns and are happy to help even in difficult circumstances. I feel my mother is being looked
after well and seems as happy as a 97-year-old with problems associated with old age may expect to be.

My mother received exceptional care. She was given choices in her diet and activities. All her needs have been met by pleasant caring staff. My mother went in for respite care but has chosen to stay as she enjoys her life at Woodstock Residential Care Centre.

We find the care home to be well managed, clean and tidy with plenty of activities for the residents to keep their minds active. The staff are always helpful to families visiting, and courteous to residents respecting their personal needs. The overall care in the home is extremely good, it takes time
for residents to adapt to their new environment and to the staff, both seem patient and respectful of each others situations. Additional facilities for hair, nails etc are welcomed by residents.

My mum currently receives a daycare service from Woodstock since January 2016. I find the manager and staff kind, friendly and helpful. I also know she is well cared for and safe in a clean and pleasant environment. She herself speaks very highly of the staff and always enjoys her time spent there
.
There would appear to be a variety of games and activities on a daily basis, which stimulates her. In the future when mum needs full-time care, I would have no doubt Woodstock would be most suitable for her. Thank you to the manager and all the staff

My mum has been in Woodstock since December 2016. She seems to have settled in well. She is a lot calmer and I feel she is safe so I don't have to worry. The staff are friendly and look after the residents well.
It is a very bright and spacious home and has many activities for residents to join in.

My mother has been a resident of Woodstock for 17 months. She has most of her faculties and can to an extent look after herself. We (as a family) are and always have been very satisfied with my mother's care.
The manager and all the staff are very kind, caring and understanding. The home environment
is bright, cheerful and aimed at residents stimulation.

Amazing home. Fantastic staff, kind, caring and compassionate. Loved seeing them and interacting with all the residents. Nothing was too much trouble. When my friend had to go into a Nursing home the manager helped and supported me in finding one. Priceless care and support. Thank you, Woodstock Residential

The first impression of the Centre was lasting, bright, airing and welcoming. Staff always welcomed us like friends. They quickly settled my best friend, my mother-in-law in. She unfortunately only managed a month there before she was poorly and had to go to the hospital, but whilst in hospital she
kept asking to go home. She did not mean her house, but her new home at Woodstock where she had settled, made friends and got involved with all the activities they run on a daily basis. The home looks bright, light and airy, smells sweet and has beautiful gardens. It is a lovely place, and we looked at a number before settling on this one. A very good choice for us and mum.

My mother is extremely well looked after. The manager is helpful and always on call to answer any questions or worries we might have. The staff generally are helpful. Considering my mother has dementia all the staff are very patient with her. There are activities every day and a mini bus which takes
the residents out on lots of occasions. In the summer there is a bright and cheerful garden with seats and umbrellas to sit outside. Coffee mornings are held and entertainment provided which is excellent.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.713)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.713) out of 10 for Woodstock Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.713 for Woodstock Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (241 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 320 Ratings = 4.713
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodstock Care Centre is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Our Unit Managers make sure our residents’ clinical care and medical needs are expertly catered for, and our care staff work extremely hard to ensure that residents receive the best all-round care, in a way that is of their choosing. “Hello, my name is Marina Foreman. I am the Senior Recreation and Well-Being Lead at Woodstock Residential Care Home and I started in December 2016. I’m very proud of completing multiple training courses over the years, including Mental Health Level 3, the Care Certificate, Advanced Course Dementia, NVQ Level 2 in Principles of Dementia and Virtual Dementia Tour.

I passionately believe meaningful activities are the key to good mental health and well-being. I believe that everyone has a value and I want to support people to lead their best possible lives. My job role allows me to bring smiles to people's faces and seeing the residents having fun, laughing and enjoying themselves makes me happy. It gives me great pleasure to know that I’m making a difference. I am also very proud of getting Woodstock in the newspaper and the good feedback I receive from families about the Activities that we provide at the Home.

Over the years, Activities has become more widely recognised as a very important part of care for our residents’ well-being. Nellsar and the team I work with at Woodstock are very supportive with my ideas and helping me to achieve my goals and bring activities to the Home.”

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

“I currently work at Woodstock as a Kitchen Assistant, and I have been an assistant cook since June 2019. I previously worked as a Kitchen Assistant from 2007 to 2009 and I came back in June 2020 on a teatime duty.

I became a Care Assistant at Woodstock for a year after leaving my job in Sittingbourne Community School as a Catering Assistant, which I worked at for nearly eleven years. When the pandemic started my job role changed as I became a full time Kitchen Assistant and Assistant Cook. I even became employee of the month on the year of 2019!

I have been provided with lots of different training from the Home including Dementia Care, First Aid, Nutrition and Hydration and much more. I also achieved a certificate for the Nellsar Chef Masterclass in 2019.

I love and enjoy my job – especially in the cooking. Over the years working at Woodstock, I gained a lot of confidence. Working with such a friendly and supportive team has helped me grow throughout my journey and I feel I have become stronger in myself.”
