Located in the market town of Sittingbourne, Woodstock Care Home provides person-centred residential, nursing, and dementia care for up to 45 residents in single or companion rooms. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated, most of which have ensuite facilities. The home comprises six different lounges and private seating areas, a large garden and patio area, a light and airy conservatory, and an onsite hair salon.

Woodstock's Recreation and Well-being team ensure residents receive tailored care, a fun social lifestyle, and entertainment seven days a week. They pride themselves on a wonderfully varied programme of activities designed to appeal to every resident. Whether this involves arts and crafts, singing along with live entertainers, gardening and cooking, one-on-one time solving a crossword, or a gentle hand massage, residents’ individual preferences are always considered.

Championing the importance of person-centred nutrition for older people and those with dementia, Nellsar employs a Head of Nutrition and Wellness for their homes. The Woodstock catering team recognises that nutrition and hydration are integral to good health and well-being, providing delicious and nutritious meals and snacks every day.

Woodstock also benefits from a well-being team of fully qualified holistic therapists who use nurturing touch, complementary therapies, and relaxing treatments to enhance residents’ quality of life and sense of well-being.

Implementing the Care Vision® digital care management system throughout the Home ensures that the entire care service delivery, recording, and reporting process is optimised and centred around residents and their personalised care.

The care home at Woodstock Residential Care Centre always feels welcoming and relaxed, the staff are always very friendly and seem happy in their job. My mum always speaks highly of the staff, saying everybody is nice to her and helps her. There is always some sort of activity going on which makes the
home an interesting place and considers their residents' well-being.

My overall impression of Woodstock Residential Care Centre is very good. The staff are very pleasant and caring and I know my sister is well looked after and treated with compassion. My only concern is the loss of her hearing aids as it isolates her and makes it difficult to converse with her.

I have only good things to say about Woodstock Residential Care Centre. Each time I've called on the phone all the staff have been friendly, kind and efficient and also very caring - similarly, when I actually visit (not that often as I live in Bournemouth) I'm always impressed by everyone here. Please
don't change what you're doing - it works great! Many thanks to all.

Every visit to Woodstock is very enjoyable. The staff are all very friendly and the residents are very well cared for! There are loads of activities planned each week. Personal care i.e. hair, nails and pedicures for the ladies are carried out regularly to keep the ladies feeling and looking good. We
have no issues with the care home, they go out of their way to be helpful, 100%.

Mum has been at Woodstock for over ten years now. They go above and beyond in her care and wellbeing. Recently, Mum's eating has become a concern, but all of the staff really try and encourage her to eat and drink and are all trying very hard with her. I am always kept well informed by the staff and
can't thank them enough for all they do to keep Mum safe and comfortable. Can't praise them enough, especially during Covid's hard times.

Since the home has fully opened after Covid, it has become so much easier to visit. The activities on offer to the residents are first class. I was lucky enough to arrive as an entertainer was setting up his equipment and was able to stay and watch everybody dancing and enjoying themselves. The jubilee
garden party was brilliant, and the food was excellent. The highlight was the ice cream van arriving in the garden.

From our first visit to Woodstock, when we were looking around for a placement for Dad, we loved it. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the home is beautifully presented, and the residents looked well cared for. Dad has now been at Woodstock for a couple of months and has settled very well. He
is very happy, and particularly enjoys getting outside in the lovely garden. He says the food is lovely and the staff are very kind and attentive. He is never lonely and enjoys an array of activities. We are always welcomed when we visit and really enjoyed the celebration party they had for the Queen's Jubilee. I would most definitely recommend Woodstock.

The home, Woodstock Residential Care Centre, is a lovely home. They look after the residents so well, all the people that work there are great, the carers really do take care of the residents as if they are their own family. They deal with all the needs, never ignore them. All the games are all good
and help residents. What lovely, helpful staff they all are and I hope they are appreciated by the owners of the home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.720)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.720) out of 10 for Woodstock Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.720 for Woodstock Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (252 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 332 Ratings = 4.72
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodstock Care Centre is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

"The staff and I here at Woodstock are very committed to providing excellent care and upholding the values of our residents and their families. Collectively, our team has a wide range of exceptional skills that enable us to focus on the well-being of our residents, and deliver tailored, person-centred care.

Our Unit Managers make sure our residents’ clinical care and medical needs are expertly catered for, and our care staff work extremely hard to ensure that residents receive the best all-round care, in a way that is of their choosing. Ensuring our residents’ happiness and contentment is of the utmost importance, as is making sure they feel like Woodstock is their home.

Our Recreation and Well-Being Team provides a broad range of meaningful activities that allow residents to enjoy life; family and friends are very much a part of it all. We have a fabulous Catering Team that provides delicious meals for our residents – varied menus that cater for all tastes and medical needs.

Our Housekeeping department ensures our Home is kept clean, tidy and maintained to a high standard, providing a comfortable and attractive environment our residents can enjoy and feel proud to live in.

Put all our wonderful teams and shared values together and this is Woodstock; we care about providing a real home environment for our residents and are very proud to be part of the Nellsar family."

“Hello, my name is Marina Foreman. I am the Senior Recreation and Well-Being Lead at Woodstock Residential Care Home and I started in December 2016. I’m very proud of completing multiple training courses over the years, including Mental Health Level 3, the Care Certificate, Advanced Course Dementia, NVQ Level 2 in Principles of Dementia and Virtual Dementia Tour.

I passionately believe meaningful activities are the key to good mental health and well-being. I believe that everyone has a value and I want to support people to lead their best possible lives. My job role allows me to bring smiles to people's faces and seeing the residents having fun, laughing and enjoying themselves makes me happy. It gives me great pleasure to know that I’m making a difference. I am also very proud of getting Woodstock in the newspaper and the good feedback I receive from families about the Activities that we provide at the Home.

Over the years, Activities has become more widely recognised as a very important part of care for our residents’ well-being. Nellsar and the team I work with at Woodstock are very supportive with my ideas and helping me to achieve my goals and bring activities to the Home.”

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

“I currently work at Woodstock as a Kitchen Assistant, and I have been an assistant cook since June 2019. I previously worked as a Kitchen Assistant from 2007 to 2009 and I came back in June 2020 on a teatime duty.

I became a Care Assistant at Woodstock for a year after leaving my job in Sittingbourne Community School as a Catering Assistant, which I worked at for nearly eleven years. When the pandemic started my job role changed as I became a full time Kitchen Assistant and Assistant Cook. I even became employee of the month on the year of 2019!

I have been provided with lots of different training from the Home including Dementia Care, First Aid, Nutrition and Hydration and much more. I also achieved a certificate for the Nellsar Chef Masterclass in 2019.

I love and enjoy my job – especially in the cooking. Over the years working at Woodstock, I gained a lot of confidence. Working with such a friendly and supportive team has helped me grow throughout my journey and I feel I have become stronger in myself.”
