Henry Cornish Care Centre

This intermediate care unit is excellent. Staff are excellent. Food is excellent - Tasty, just right - got a good chef, clinicians excellent.

I arrived at this care centre following hospital treatment due to the norovirus illness leaving me dehydrated and not wanting to eat and lacking energy. I am so grateful to Henry Cornish Care - the staff at the care centre were lovely, caring, cheerful and helpful all day and every day. Food was delicious, activities enjoyable.

My husband received excellent treatment. Everyone was friendly and could not do enough for him. I would certainly recommend it to my friends.

Really cared for well. This was my second visit to the Cornish and again I had no complaints.

My Grandmother has spent several, very happy, years at the Henry Cornish Care Centre. She has had a lovely room, enjoyed the activities and facilities eg., hairdresser. Above all, she has been well cared for by lovely staff who go out of their way to support her. Thank you!

Did not want to come here but on arrival was surprised to find such a friendly, caring and efficient rehabilitation centre. I had no idea such a place existed. Well done St John's.

I was transferred to this intermediate care unit from the trauma ward at the hospital without any option. However, it proved a very good move as it made visiting much easier for my wife and, having a relatively peaceful room to myself, has been a real bonus. I have been very well cared for during my three-week stay, have been well fed (too well to judge by my waist-line!) and very comfortable. Because of my limited mobility, I have been unable to make use of the facilities. My one concern is that the wonderful staff are frequently under too much pressure and must be praised for coping.

My mother's care was conducted in a friendly, caring manner, but was also professional and efficient. Apparently "the food was good and everyone was very friendly"!

As a resident, I find the staff friendly, helpful and caring. The lunchtime food is always good but sometimes the tea time food leaves a little to be desired.

My mother was looked after following a spell in hospital after falling at home. She had broken her right arm and hip and needed a lot of support both physically and mentally. All staff were amazing - very caring, professional and proficient in their dealings with both mum and her family. I very much appreciate the help and advice given to me in finding a suitable care home for mum's permanent residence after leaving.

Being purpose built gives the facility many advantages over a converted property. En-suite, light and airy communal areas wide corridors etc. My mother has made friendships and is now clearly benefitting from the range of activities provided. Weekly GP surgeries and on-site hairdressing salon are positive bonuses.

My elderly aunt, who was frail and had developed Alzheimer’s disease, was cared for in Henry Cornish Care Centre from 2014 until her death in 2017. The family were delighted she could be cared for in Chipping Norton as she was born there and had lived there all her life. The care was excellent throughout. My aunt was always clean, tidily dressed, smiling and content when we visited, and the staff always cheerful and friendly. The regular hairdresser and podiatry service were appreciated too. On her 90th birthday, the home laid on a splendid buffet and made the day really special. The family will always be grateful to this care home for making my aunt’s final years, despite her many care needs, as comfortable and happy as they were.

My Mother spent 13 very happy months at Henry Cornish. During her time there she was treated with respect, care and dignity. Her wish was to have end of life care here, which she did, and during this time was treated with the same dignity, care and compassion as in previous months. Apart from my mother's experience my family, especially myself and my husband were supported well throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone in the future.

Staff are very welcoming and the home is a lovely place full of light, good fragrant atmosphere with fruit bowls available all the time. Meals are brilliant, choice and good quality. Activities are good in the week but after 6 pm nothing happens - I feel very lonely and want company in the evenings. Laundry is very well looked after. However, respite room is very basic without any 'softness'. The bed was very slippery and sheet kept coming off. Resident rooms look great, but a stark contrast to the respite room, but I like the home.

You were all very welcoming and kindly hosted our friend's meeting. As she said we were really welcome in her home - not "the care home" but her home.

Staff are invariably helpful and welcoming, including on the occasion that one of the residents and a group of her Quaker friends found that their usual venue in the Town Hall had been "occupied" by another group. The staff at Henry Cornish were happy for us to use the sitting room at the home for an hour or so that evening and even produced tea and coffee for us. My friend is vegetarian and is often not offered a good variety of meal choices to cover her dietary needs.
