I visit once a week from 10am until 4pm. Sometimes it's noisy with other residents shouting. I like the fact that I can go into another quieter room, at times and watch TV. The staff are very attentive and kind. The food is very good.

My mother came into Lake House for respite after a fall at home initially for two weeks, and in that time, we realised she was not safe to return home. The care and support she has had is fantastic. All staff and management are so lovely. Nothing has been too much trouble for them. Within a week of Mum being there, she also realised she wasn't safe to return home and asked if she could stay there. She said it is so lovely and feels like home, which makes all the family very happy as we know she is safe and well looked after.

Reply from Rowen Campbell, On behalf of the team at Lake House

I'm so pleased your mother has come to feel at home with us at Lake House. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your family's experience - I'm sure it will be reassuring to others in a similar situation.

I have been at Lake House for three months and in that time I have been very well looked after. I have felt very cared for by all the staff, carers, kitchen and domestic staff. All of these are very cheerful and friendly which means the home has a good, positive atmosphere.

Support is fine in every area including encouragement to eat food which is good, and organised activities to help avoid boredom and including crafts and quizzes.

For me, it's all about the quality of care and knowing that your loved one is well looked after when you can't be there. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile to make residents feel that they matter, that they feel happy and supported. This is because the staff are genuinely interested in the residents' lives, what they used to do, and who their family members are. The interaction I have seen between all staff and residents radiates warmth and fun. Would definitely recommend.

Both my mum and dad came here for care. They both have had 5 star care and I would recommend it very highly to anyone. Sadly my dad passed away the palliative care he received was 5 star and the staff go above and beyond for all the residents here at Lake House.

The quality of the care staff is so good more caring than other organisations I have dealt with. The food is excellent. The whole care home is very clean and there are no plastic armchairs. Laundry is done regularly. The staff are so friendly and have time to talk to both residents and relatives.

When my mother first came to Lake House she was very unsettled. The staff were so patient with her and eventually helped her to settle here. The care given to her is excellent so the anxiety the family were experiencing initially soon disappeared. Mum seems very happy.

Mum has only been in Lake House for a few weeks so far and myself and my family have been happy. Mum is taking a while to settle but she is very happy with the food and she says the carers are good. Mum enjoys the outside entertainment and sometimes joins in the in-house activities. The gardens are/ will be beautiful and I take my mum out when I can.

I was worried and took a lot of persuading that my husband needed more care than I could provide, but it was a good decision to move him into Lake House. His walking and talking have improved tremendously. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them to deal with

Alexandra Grindle
Alexandra GrindleJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2018

Alexandra (Alex) joined the Trust in April 2018 as a Trainee Home Manager and quickly advanced to become the Home Manager of Lake House in December 2018.

Her career in care began in 2008 as a domiciliary carer. Over the years, Alex has progressed through various roles, eventually becoming a registered Domiciliary Care Manager. At that point, she decided to take her career in a new direction by applying her skills and experience to the care home sector. This led her to apply for and secure the Trainee Home Manager position. Alex holds a Level 5 qualification in Care Management and is currently pursuing a degree in social care through the Open University.

Outside of her role at Lake House, Alex enjoys spending time with her young family, walking her dog, and exploring the countryside.

Sarah Chilton
Sarah ChiltonJob Title:Admin AssistantJoined: 2015

Sarah is Lake House’s Admin Assistant and will be the first to offer a very warm welcome to all visitors. She joined Lake House in 2015 and brought with her many years’ experience of working in care and nursing. Along with nursing qualifications, Sarah holds an NVQ Level 4 (Management) and Certificate in Health and Social Services Management.

Sarah enjoys the varied and busy nature of her role; whether she is organising staff rotas, reviewing residents’ financial accounts or meeting a new resident and their family, Sarah is often the go-to person for information in the home and she is always willing to assist where she can.

Sarah feels privileged to work in the residents’ home and is dedicated to fulfilling residents’ wishes, whether that involves popping to the shop for them or something as simple as making them a cup of tea. She even donned an Easter bunny onesie and hopped around the home for their Easter party. For someone who, by her own admission, “doesn’t do fancy dress”, this speaks volumes about the lengths that Sarah will go to for the home!
