Hill Brow is a purpose-designed 30-bed family owned and run care home, which is rated outstanding by CQC (April 2022). Friendly trained carers contribute towards a homely and happy atmosphere in which residents are supported in their choices and lifestyles. All of the team are permanent, agency staff are never used allowing strong relationships to form between residents and team.

The resident’s independence, dignity and care is at the centre of everything the staff of Hill Brow do. The home also works closely with other health care professionals in providing 24-hour care, which helps to reduce the need for hospital admissions.

There is a full and diverse activities programme, providing many opportunities to socialise. Outside there are beautiful landscaped gardens with flat paths and a large fish pond for residents to enjoy. The residents take an active role in running the home, helping to create the menu's, activities and social programme. Hill Brow is a happy home, where the resident's happiness and welfare comes first.

My mother has been at Hillbrow for over 3 years, it's was originally emotionally so hard to move her from her home and I was so worried she would decline.
However the opposite happened my mum gained weight and her health improved.
I cannot thank the team enough, they are amazing, kind and loving
mixed in with a lot of laughter.

I have been visiting my friend's Mum here for nearly two years and I have to say what a warm and friendly, more like family, environment the home is. She is usually having a laugh with one of the staff who are all polite, helpful and caring. There is a wide variety of activities to keep the residents
stimulated, including outings each week. The food is excellent, again a varied choice each day. The family BBQ's and quiz nights are very popular. A lovely place for loved ones to be cared for and safe.

My mother used to be a resident at Hillbrow and I have been a regular volunteer there for the last 3 years. All the staff are caring and all the residents are treated with kindness and respect. There is always a lot of laughter and the residents all look relaxed, happy and cared for. It is a very

Friendly and helpful staff. There is nothing that is too much trouble for them. The staff members seem to have been employed at the home for long periods, therefore marvelous continuity. Lovely public rooms to sit in, and a marvelous conservatory.

My mother has been at Hill Brow for just over a year now and it has been heart warming to see the way staff treat my mum with such kindness, respect and dignity. Hill Brow is now like my extended family too, as I am always made to feel so at home whenever I visit, by both staff and residents! Both my
adult children have recently commented that they feel that their grandma is in a great home that has lovely staff. We all know that she is safe and well cared for and enjoying all the fabulous activities that Hill Brow offer. She loves having a giggle with the staff and residents and it's a joy to see her looking so relaxed. It's very reassuring to know that the home is managed so well. You can always ask questions, arrange a meeting, discuss a concern, etc. and they are always ready to listen. Thank you, Hill Brow.

Hill Brow is a wonderful care home with kind and helpful staff who are always on hand to support and care for my mum. There is a wide range of activities and outings that mum enjoys and if she wants to sit quietly in the conservatory then that is fine too. As relatives, we feel welcomed and communication
between the staff and us is excellent. I feel so reassured that mum is safe and happy in such a caring environment.

My mother in law has been exceptionally well looked after and the process of getting her settled in over the past few weeks has been fantastic. My Mum moved in a couple of months ago and has settled in fabulously. She has flourished here, her confidence has soared and she is back to her normal bubbly, chatty self after a tough time before moving. We can't praise the staff enough for welcoming her so kindly, involving her in all the activities,

The home runs a comprehensive themed weekly activity schedule well suited to a variety of different abilities. The well thought out group activities get the residents moving/ thinking/ creating/ laughing/ dancing.
It's been such a comfort to see the updates and see my Nan smiling and having great
experiences.

My mum moved in to Hill Brow in December 2024 and she has settled in so quickly. The staff have made her feel so welcome and there are so many engaging activities, I've seen a real improvement. She loves the food and the green location with space to walk outdoors. It's great to see my mum so much happier
and it's a really nice place to go and visit her as well.

My dad joined Hill Brow in October 2024. When he arrived, he was very low and underweight.
I cannot believe the change in him! He has got back to a healthy weight, he is happy and content.
The staff are so lovely. They are all friendly, warm and caring. There is a real sense of community in the
home and I always feel welcomed there. I love that my dad is treated with dignity and respect.
Dad is really impressed with the choice of food and if he ever asks for anything, the staff make it happen!

My mother has been a resident for over a year at Hill Brow Residential Care Home and the home continues to provide the same level of outstanding care for her as they did at the beginning The staff are always so polite and welcoming and the atmosphere created is reminiscent of a very large family home.
There are many outings and activities to stimulate the residents including a dementia choir, arts and crafts, visits to local garden centers and visiting entertainers.

Three months after arriving, Mum endured a traumatic event when she broke her leg, requiring surgery within 24 hours. The ordeal was harrowing; a 3-hour ambulance wait and the hospital staff's poor bedside manner left her delusional, convinced she was part of a medical experiment. Her distress deepened
under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). The hospital's emotional care was appalling. Communication with next of kin was confusing and uncaring. Even after being cleared for discharge, Mum was held unnecessarily for 5 days for a procedure that could have been done as an outpatient. By the end, she believed she would never leave the hospital. Hill Brow stepped in with the persistence, care and expertise the hospital lacked. Thanks to their support, Mum returned to Hill Brow on Christmas Eve, safe and surrounded by kindness. Hill Brow's professionalism, compassion, and adaptability make them exceptional and easy to recommend. They have been a lifeline for my family.

Both my parents have recently moved into Hill Brow Residential Care Home together. Care and attention has been made to help them feel welcome, to settle them into their new environment and to feel safe and valued within the care home community.
My mother also suffers from celiac disease and can become
very ill very quickly if food is contaminated or offered food that contains gluten. There have been no incidents of this occurring, this is down to the excellent chef and care staff.
I also would like to thank all the staff and especially the manager for also helping myself and my family with this huge change.

My mother (96 years old) was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we recognised that it was time for her to have 24 hour care. My daughter and I looked at 6 different establishments in the area and Hill Brow Residential Care Home absolutely stood out as the place for her. We definitely made the right
decision! I honestly could not imagine a better place for her to enjoy her latter years. The staff are organised, engaged, but most importantly caring, and their interaction with the residents is exemplary. The atmosphere is lovely and homely and there is a wide range of activities in which to participate, should they choose. All the meals are cooked from scratch and are delicious and nutritious. The manager and her assistant keep in regular contact and there are also periodic one-to-one meetings. I would not hesitate to recommend HIll Brow.

When putting my grandma into placement we looked at multiple different residential and nursing homes. Hill Brow Residential Care Home was by far our favourite and since my grandma has moved in has continued to impress us. My grandma loves it, they have a load of activities to join in with and lovely
food and drink options. My grandma constantly tells us how safe she feels and how well looked after she is. Thank you to the team for helping her settle in so well and making her feel so safe.

My mum was very resistant to becoming a care home resident. However when eventually, at ninety-seven years old, she agreed to give it a try she loved it. This is totally down to the wonderful ambience at Hill Brow generated by a kind and loving staff. She joined in with most of the activities and although
her stay proved to be a relatively short one I was totally happy with the care and attention she received during that time. My whole family would like to thank the staff for looking after her so well.

I am Alison and the proud Proprietor of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd. I am a nurse holding a Degree in Nursing with a Diploma in Elderly Care. I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at The Royal Free Hospital, to assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow following my mother's retirement in 1998. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in our homes, providing the highest standards of care which are built on an ethos of family-centred care. I am also a teacher and assessor ensuring I can support our staff through their development and training.

Hello, my name is Laura Cooper, I have worked for the Lee family for over 8 years and I am extremely proud to be the General Manager for Woodlands and Hill Brow’s four homes. With over 20 years of previous Leadership and HR experience behind me, I work with the homes daily to promote and ensure that the happiness of our residents and all our permanent staff members remains at the heart of all we do.

My passion is caring for the elderly. I believe everyone should receive compassion and outstanding care in their later years and that this can be achieved with well-trained and good staff working in partnership with our residents and their families and other Health Care Specialists and Professionals.

I'm Lynn, and I work as a Chef at Hill Brow. I absolutely love being part of such a caring company that values and supports its employees. The management team is incredibly supportive and always prioritizes the well-being of the residents and staff.


One of the best parts of my job is preparing meals for the residents at Hill Brow. I make sure to have individual conversations with each resident to learn about their favourite foods and preferred drinks. It's important to me that they are happy, so I strive to provide them with wholesome, delicious, and nutritious meals that they truly enjoy.

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2012

I love my job as an activities coordinator. The most important part of my day to me is spending quality time with the residents whether in a group activity or chatting on a one to one basis. I particularly enjoy the art and craft activities. When I first started the Wednesday afternoon Art Club I could only persuade a few of the residents to join in, now I have residents and their family join in!


A regular Friday afternoon activity which I introduced soon after I started in this role is Word Association. I always get full attendance for this as the associations can be very unpredictable and humorous.


Story writing is another popular activity. I usually try to tie the theme into a current event or choose a popular childhood memory to develop into a story, however by far the most popular theme is a murder mystery. All of the residents have an opportunity to add a suggestion which is included in the story. The stories are a great way to bring out their sense of humour and it never fails to surprise me how inventive they can be.


I have also introduced food and cooking activities where I have helped the residents pipe onto cakes and biscuits with chocolate or icing and they get to eat their own creations! I use my love of art, cake decorating and watercolour painting to develop new projects and my latest creation is a giant bingo game which can also be used for quiz questions. We always look forward to our weekly outings and also the musicians that come to perform.


It’s a real privilege to be able to spend so much time with our residents. I feel very much appreciated by our residents and enjoy being part of the team at Hill Brow.

Job Title: Facilities Manager

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
