My great aunt went into Linwood at the beginning of September. She was 99 years old and had lived on her own for many years albeit with carers coming in during the last few years. Having been hospitalised early in the year for 10 weeks it was apparent when she returned home that her ability to look
after herself wasn't possible.
She had very poor vision and hearing and her mobility was much worse than when she went into hospital. She decided to go into a home and although she really wanted to go back home this was not an option. Unfortunately she passed away on the 30th October.
The care that she received from the staff was excellent. They were very caring to someone who could be a bit awkward!
Whilst we were only allowed in the home at the end stage of her life the facilities looked amazing and certainly they made it feel as much like a home from home as possible. I would highly recommend this home as a loving caring place if a loved one needs to be in a home

I have been very impressed with the level of care provided. Staff are approachable, friendly, and genuinely care. I feel confident leaving my mother at Linwood. She is happy and feels support both physically and emotionally. Staff are open and transparent giving help whenever possible. Linwood is not
just a care home, it is primarily a residents 'home'

My great(x3) aunt became a resident at Linwood in September 2021 after living independently on her own for 99 years. The home itself is like a hotel, the staff are very friendly and respectable. In October 2021 we had to put my aunt on end of life care plan, which was devastating for us as a family
but the staff at Linwood was compassionate and understanding and was a really good support network during this time. We sadly lost our aunt on the 30th October. The support from the staff I cannot fault, as they had also grown a relationship with her and was upset themselves. Linwood staff look at the residents as family and couldn’t do any more for us. I would just like to thank all the staff for all they had done for my aunt we as a family really appreciate all their work.

My aunt has been a resident of Linwood for 18 months and they have looked after her very well. She settled in well with thier help and care. She is always well kept, clean and tidy and, more to the point, a very happy resident.

I think Linwood care home is an excellent comfortable home and very caring. I have told all my friends to come here when they need a home that's so warm and just like a family. Two of them have already applied and one is here with me. There is lots of fun with games and lots of lovely food.

Staff are always helpful to family members and we are kept informed of any changes by email or phone.
In COVID times, on the whole, staff have been very professional.
After the loss of my dad, who also lived at Linwood, staff were very supportive to Mum.

Since the relaxation of COVID visiting restrictions I have visited my 94 year old friend and her husband on a couple of occasions. Both are recent residents to Linwood and have settled in very well. The staff I have met are unwaverigly kind and respectful and my friends speak very highly of the home.

My dad stayed recently for respite care and whilst Covid restrictions meant I couldn’t help settle him in, the staff were really great at keeping me informed of how he was settling in and were great at trying to support him and us as his family through a time he was quite distressed at being away from
home.
When we could visit, the staff were friendly and really helpful and always followed up any actions we asked them to take.
Also, Dad informs me that the food he had there was really lovely!!

We moved Mum into Linwood on day one of lockdown so just had time to unpack her bags and get her settled so I feel lucky we could look around. It's a well-designed, bright environment with good-sized rooms and the benefit of en-suites too. I like the hair salon/nail bar (a treat for Mum) and the lounge
areas. Everywhere was clean and in good decorative order.
It was a long 12 weeks not being able to see Mum but the carers were wonderful and I really appreciated the FaceTime calls with her. Since then, Linwood were so good in facilitating visits behind a screen as soon as they had the go-ahead and similarly when face-to-face visits were possible with hand-holding, they made this happen quickly thankfully because we know how much this benefits Mum.
We've now got to know the office staff and team of carers and they are such a wonderful bunch! They are kind and compassionate to both Mum and our family and we do appreciate the happy, cheerfulness they exude!

Mum has been a resident at Linwood for around 10 years now. Although it has been a difficult time and the pandemic has made it impossible to visit, I feel confident that she is loved and well looked after by the care home staff. I would happily recommend the home to others looking for a suitable home
for their loved ones.

We had POA for our old friend (she was in her 90s) and was happy and well cared for in the 4 and a half years she lived there. There were regular activities on offer and also communion services for those who wished to attend. She was always clean and tidy and there was a hairdresser in attendance and
chiropody available if required.
An attractive garden was a popular facility and the staff were caring and a constant presence. Visitors were welcome and we never felt we were an intrusion or a nuisance. Had we wished, there was always someone to talk to or with whom to raise any concerns had we had them.

From the first time we visited when looking at Linwood for our Mum we were welcomed warmly and made to feel extremely welcome. After our Mum only having been in there for a month before lockdown it made us feel so much better knowing that she was in safe hands and would be looked after! The staff are
friendly and available and look after the families which is reassuring. They have helped make a hard time much easier! I would recommend Linwood to anyone for a family member.

My mother lived at Linwood for nearly three years. Sadly she died in October. It is a very hard decision to seek a care home for your loved one. We were so grateful that we chose Linwood. In her first two years, she was so stimulated and joined in with all the activities, despite her increasing dementia.
We always felt welcome as a family visiting and friends too, were always greeted and offered cups of tea in a quiet space to sit with Mum. Lovely touches, having a family group Christmas meal with Mum. And birthdays too. We felt like part of the Linwood family. Unfortunately, many things had to change with the Covid pandemic from March this year. Linwood did their best to help us keep in touch. We were able to Skype call, and a staff member would help Mum with the technology. We had a few window and garden visits, which were also great to see her in person, albeit with such big restrictions. When Mum came to her end of life, we were impressed by the compassion and care shown.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.693)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.693) out of 10 for Linwood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.693 for Linwood is calculated as follows: ( (329 Excellents x 5) + (114 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 456 Ratings = 4.693
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Linwood is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
