My 90 yr old mum, with advanced dementia came to Shannon Court after a stay in hospital. She was resident for a year.
I can't speak highly enough of all the staff and the manager Matthew, who work together to create a calm, professional, friendly environment.
I was welcomed and made to feel at home too ... I enjoyed going in !

But when a loved one is ill and visits are tough, there are also welcoming spaces to step back and take a moment, too ...so thoughtfully organised.

Every aspect of my mum's care was superlative and she always said how safe she felt and happy to be there.

I miss the lovely team at Shannon Court and will always be grateful for everything they did for my mother.

When dad went downhill with Parkinson's we were in the inevitable position of having to navigate care homes, finances and emotions. The team at Shannon Court were fabulous. Led by the manager Matthew they could not has been more welcoming, understanding or accommodating.
I asks his dad his impression of the staff before writing this review and he said they were all fantastic people.

He loves his cooked breakfast and is looking forward to the weather getting better so can enjoy the expansive gardens

We as a family cannot speak too highly about Shannon Court and the team within. The care and consideration that they have given to both our parents/grandparents has been outstanding. After 73 years together they did not want to be seperated and the staff have gone out of their way to ensure that that is the case. From the manager to the cleaner and everyone in between they genuinely care about the residents and treat them with the greatest respect. It is a wonderful environment , welcoming, safe and secure. Relatives are encouraged to walk freely around the residential home. They have nothing to hide.

My mother was moved to Shannon Court for the final few months of her life. Sadly she was no longer able to appreciate the lovely surroundings and grounds nor the activities that were on offer. What she did get to benefit from was the total dedication of the staff to making her final month's as comfortable as possible. As a visitor it was lovely to see the other residents enjoying their twilight years, I would often see the staff up the drive way with the residents in their wheel chairs out in the fresh air, those who are more able can enjoy the stunning grounds with the woodland walk, fish pond and outdoor seating. Who knew that more disabled residents could enjoy a rickshaw ride rather than being stuck indoors. The care shown to my mother and to me will never be forgotten, as a relative you feel part of the family of carers, same faces rather than agency strangers, name tags you can read and memories of exceptional kindness made

Before my father was admitted at the beginning of May, my wife and I went to visit the home. We were shown around and made to feel very welcome, and at no point did we feel that our initial visit was being rushed. On my father's admission, the staff have settled him in and made him feel very welcome, and have been monitoring him every day to try and integrate him into the home as quickly as possible. I don't think that any care home could do a better job than what Shannon Court has done for my father and our family. When I have visited my father, when there is no one around, he has said to me on a number of occasions that all of the staff there are really caring and lovely. I could not recommend this care home highly enough.

My mum has been living at Shannon Court for six years now. The care staff treat her like a member of their own family, with such kindness and respect. Mum is in the late stages of dementia and it is important to me that her beliefs and wishes are still respected, I can truly say, all the staff endeavour to achieve this. It is testament to the care she is receiving, by seeing how content and happy she is. Thank you all.

Shannon Court is a warm and welcoming place with a dedicated and caring team. The staff go above and beyond to support residents, treating them with kindness, patience, and respect. The management team is fantastic - always approachable, communicative, and genuinely invested in the well-being of both residents and their families. The facilities are well-maintained, clean, and comfortable, creating a homely and secure environment. There's a great variety of activities to keep residents engaged, and the meals are well-prepared and enjoyable. While it wasn't the right long-term fit in this instance, I'm truly grateful for the care and effort provided. I would highly recommend Shannon Court to families looking for a professional, compassionate, and supportive home for their loved ones.

Shannon Court took my father at short notice - although we had already visited last year as potential for my father when the need arose. The Shannon Court team went above and beyond when we needed help, during the Christmas period. The team are very kind and caring, and my father has remarked repeatedly on how lovely the team of carers are. Everyone is friendly, positive, and enormously supportive at a particularly difficult time for the family and my father. The food is great and plenty of it. Shannon Court has a lovely fresh and bright, welcoming feel to it.

Visiting my nan is always such a good time. She is so happy in the home and has made so many friends. I've seen first hand how amazing the carers are with her - they've taken the time to introduce themselves to us as family members too. It is always a clean and happy environment. There are lots of great activities for the residents, which my nan enjoys doing! Great facilities too with tea and coffee/hot chocolate available for visitors. Cosy living rooms so everyone in the family can join in too! Would definitely recommend Shannon Court!

Mum was admitted as an emergency respite to Shannon Court in May 2024 before deciding to stay permanently at the home. All the staff have been wonderful in helping her to settle in, nothing has been too much trouble.
It has taken a few weeks for her to settle but she is now loving what Shannon has to offer. She has made new friends and enjoys the activities, doing things she wouldn't have had the chance to enjoy living at home alone.

Her room is lovely and looks out onto the grounds, she enjoys going for a walk around the grounds or sitting out weather permitting. The community team who visit the home has also been amazing. Thank you, the manager and all your team at Shannon for all you do for Mum.

Mum became unable to live alone safely and as we already knew them, we approached Shannon Court to see if it were feasible for her to move there. The management was helpful, professional and sympathetic throughout the whole process, and Mum moved in a week later. She took a while to settle in after such a big upheaval in her life, but the staff have been fantastic, and having now been there for well over a year, she has made many friends amongst both the staff and other residents. The District Nurse service partners brilliantly with Shannon Court's care team to provide Mum with the best care she has ever had. She is now happy and feels totally at home, eats and sleeps well, joins in with many organised activities, is safe, and approaches each day with such enthusiasm that she has become an inspiration to many. As a family, we are immensely grateful to all at Shannon Court for giving Mum a wonderful place to live and us the peace of mind to know she is in the best possible place.

The management are excellent and have been so helpful and the whole team are definitely led from the top in the very best way.
Any queries or emails are answered clearly and promptly.
The grounds and gardens are beautiful for the residents to sit in and take in the sunny days too.

My mum was at Shannon Court for approximately eleven months. Thanks to all the lovely staff there Mum was able to live out her last days in the cocoon of warmth, kindness and dignity. I am in Australia but communicated every day with her while she was there. She would tell me what she had for breakfast, lunch and supper. I'd know when she'd asked for a cup of tea, had a bath or her nails and hair done. She told me about Max - the beautiful dog that visits from time to time; about a fun Italian lunch, a donkey trotting down the hallway and coronation chicken. Through her eyes I saw the daffodils flower outside her window and always knew when the pheasant was visiting. All these things brought Mum great joy and earlier this year I went there and saw it all for myself. Thank you Shannon Court for everything you did for Mum, I don't think anyone could have done more. And thank you from Mum too, I know she would want us to say that.

Mum was only there for a few months and was initially confused, due to dementia, not being in her childhood home, but the staff were caring and kind to her and she appeared more settled after a few weeks, although would still want to go home to see her mother. She had the option of joining the daily activities if she felt inclined and could go to her room for quiet time. Her room had a lovely dual aspect overlooking the enclosed garden on one side and the wider grounds and woods on the other. I knew between visits that she was safe and well looked after by the lovely staff.

After a couple of hesitant days, Mum soon settled in and realised that she was in the best place for her needs.
She joins in with the plentiful activities, has made a few good friends and has a brilliant interaction with the caring staff.
If mum needs anything that is not “the norm”, she or I only have to ask for or suggest an activity and it is considered and something is arranged.

Mum wants for nothing and regularly thanks me for introducing her to all of the lovely staff.

I spent two weeks at Shannon Court for respite care. I was treated with care and respect. My repeat medical prescription was undertaken professionally. The menu and dining room provided a good choice of meals, and three meals a day were available. I was registered with the local GP practice, and a district nurse attended to my leg dressing.

In all, I have no doubt Shannon Court is a very well-managed care home for the elderly. There is a relaxed and contented atmosphere at the home.

Matthew Bryans
Matthew BryansJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

My name is Matthew Bryans, and I am proud to introduce myself as the Home Manager. I began this role in November 2025, having previously worked as Deputy Manager at Shannon Court.

I have been working in the care sector for the past eight years, during which time I have developed a strong commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care. My experience has allowed me to build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and staff, and to understand the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone.

Before moving into social care, I worked as a qualified ILS paramedic in South Africa. This background has given me valuable clinical knowledge, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a deep understanding of the importance of dignity, compassion, and quick decision-making in care settings.

I am passionate about what I do and believe I bring a wide range of skills to my role as Home Manager. I am committed to leading a dedicated team, continuously improving standards, and ensuring that every resident receives the respect, care, and quality of life they deserve.

I look forward to being part of this community and making a positive difference every day.
